:01:03. > :01:05.That's the challenge for these pupils in Merthyr.

:01:06. > :01:14.Could you write then underneath for me?

:01:15. > :01:16.But each of the children at the school has autism,

:01:17. > :01:19.a condition that affects how they see the world and interact

:01:20. > :01:22.It is quite different to a mainstream classroom,

:01:23. > :01:29.mainly because distractions are kept to a minimum in the classroom.

:01:30. > :01:32.There are other strategies like visual timetables,

:01:33. > :01:36.which helps them deal with transition during the day

:01:37. > :01:39.so that when they move through activities they know

:01:40. > :01:43.what is going to happen next and they are prepared.

:01:44. > :01:46.Wales was the first country in the UK to introduce a national

:01:47. > :01:48.autism plan six years ago, raising awareness of the condition

:01:49. > :01:51.and forcing councils to develop services.

:01:52. > :01:56.Some children still have to wait too long for diagnosis.

:01:57. > :01:58.Guidelines say it should happen within three months.

:01:59. > :02:03.Charities claim some wait up to seven years.

:02:04. > :02:06.People don't recognise autism is a condition in itself

:02:07. > :02:09.and they are often bandied back and forth between mental health

:02:10. > :02:11.services and learning disabilities and that is one of the issues

:02:12. > :02:16.Autism isn't either of those conditions, it is a condition

:02:17. > :02:23.Faced with criticism that autism services across Wales are patchy

:02:24. > :02:26.at best, the National Autism Plan has been revamped to establish

:02:27. > :02:33.a National Autism Service by 2019, supporting children and adults

:02:34. > :02:36.within health, education, social services and housing together

:02:37. > :02:39.to try and make sure you get the same support wherever

:02:40. > :02:43.As far as I understand it is the first in the world,

:02:44. > :02:48.It is Wales leading the way because we listen to what has worked

:02:49. > :02:52.in the past and hasn't been successful and to understand our

:02:53. > :02:55.problem as it exists and try and do something about it.

:02:56. > :03:03.Generally speaking, the new plan has been welcomed although there

:03:04. > :03:05.are concerns there aren't enough concrete targets in it.

:03:06. > :03:09.It is argued a new law is needed to back it up but if the new plan

:03:10. > :03:12.means these pupils and others like them benefit, there will be

:03:13. > :03:17.Hundreds of people gathered outside the Senedd in Cardiff Bay,

:03:18. > :03:22.calling on politicians to put housing top of the agenda.

:03:23. > :03:25.The event was organised by eight separate organisations under

:03:26. > :03:27.the name "Homes for Wales" campaign - they claim the country is facing

:03:28. > :03:34.All the political parties at the assembly say housing

:03:35. > :03:40.The remains of a woman who went missing 14 years ago,

:03:41. > :03:42.have been found at a quarry in Monmouthshire.

:03:43. > :03:44.53-year-old Margaret Llewellyn was last seen at her home

:03:45. > :03:49.Her disappearance prompted a major search operation, and relatives

:03:50. > :03:54.Gwent Police say her remains were found at Beaufort Quarry,

:03:55. > :04:02.An injured woman was forced to wait for an ambulance on the side

:04:03. > :04:05.of a busy road in Cardiff for over four hours.

:04:06. > :04:08.The 58-year-old tripped on a kerb on Penarth Road at around 10:30am,

:04:09. > :04:11.hurting her back, but an ambulance didn't reach her until around

:04:12. > :04:17.The Chief Executive of the Wales Ambulance Service has

:04:18. > :04:19.apologised, saying current pressure on services meant they did not

:04:20. > :04:24.have the resources to send a crew quicker.

:04:25. > :04:27.The Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood's speech to her party conference

:04:28. > :04:30.in Llanelli has been dominated by attacks on Welsh Labour's

:04:31. > :04:35.She also set out the party's offering to voters ahead

:05:07. > :05:08.the involvement of what he calls Welsh government "bureaucrats"

:05:09. > :05:14.Mike Young, who is now a Hollywood film producer, says a lack

:05:15. > :05:18.of support has forced him to make his next film outside Wales.

:05:19. > :05:25.Our arts and media correspondent, Huw Thomas, has more.

:05:34. > :05:38.His next film isn't animated, it will feature the legendary

:05:39. > :05:53.He was refused support from the Welsh

:05:54. > :05:56.He still has close links with Wales and launched

:05:57. > :05:58.his latest big-screen animation in Wales this week.

:05:59. > :06:00.Asked what he thought of the film and TV industry

:06:01. > :06:02.here, his recent experience left him concerned.

:06:03. > :06:06.I am a commercial director and I think if the industry

:06:07. > :06:12.is going to work in Wales, they have got to become very commercial.

:06:13. > :06:14.They have got around them people who know

:06:15. > :06:28.how package films and how to market and sell them.

:06:29. > :06:29.Rather than, you know, office workers.

:06:30. > :06:31.The Welsh government said its support for the industry

:06:32. > :06:33.has given Wales a global reputation for productions.

:06:34. > :06:35.Its media production budget is delivering tangible results

:06:36. > :06:37.and it made commercial decisions based on

:06:38. > :06:43.Four more productions still have access to funds and will be released

:06:44. > :06:54.Norm of the North is Mike's latest animation.

:06:55. > :06:57.The tale of a polar bear charged with saving his home in the Arctic.

:06:58. > :07:00.But it is SuperTed who has defined his career and is a character

:07:01. > :07:08.We are at the beginning of writing a new SuperTed series and we hope

:07:09. > :07:11.to start producing it and we will produce it

:07:18. > :07:20.S4C have shown interest in being part of it.

:07:21. > :07:23.Mike Young is still passionate about Wales and accepts

:07:24. > :07:26.its funding rejection might have coloured his attitude

:07:27. > :07:28.towards the way the industry is run but it

:07:29. > :07:31.hasn't put him off regularly returning from LA and bringing

:07:32. > :07:38.with him one of the most iconic characters in Welsh television.

:07:39. > :07:40.Sport and Welsh cylcists Elinor Barker and Keira Horne

:07:41. > :07:43.were both part of Great Britain's Women's Team Pursuit that won bronze

:07:44. > :07:47.this evening at the World Track Cycling Championships in London.

:09:37. > :09:41.with lighter winds. Temperatures getting down to minus one Celsius.

:09:42. > :09:45.On Sunday, lighter winds making it feel less cold with some sunshine
