:00:28. > :00:37.conference. There are concerns tonight that many

:00:38. > :00:39.thousands of patients in Wales suspected of having breast cancer

:00:40. > :00:42.are waiting too long to get David Cameron is criticised

:00:43. > :00:45.for focusing on the UI That's despite a pledge

:00:46. > :00:47.by the Health Minister that all potential cancer cases should be

:00:48. > :00:50.seen by an expert within 10 days. Steffan Messenger has

:00:51. > :00:56.this excluse report. Still proudly on display,

:00:57. > :00:58.the many Mothering Sunday cards sent to 63-year-old Andrea

:00:59. > :01:01.Evans from Bari. After battling breast cancer

:01:02. > :01:06.for the last three years, she says every moment

:01:07. > :01:10.spent with her six I found a lump in my breast and went

:01:11. > :01:14.to my doctor the same day and I was referred to the breast

:01:15. > :01:18.centre and I had a telephone call the following Tuesday

:01:19. > :01:21.for an appointment. It was 12 days but it

:01:22. > :01:23.seems like an eternity. What was going through your mind

:01:24. > :01:26.during that period? If you don't count the weekend

:01:27. > :01:34.in between going to see the doctor and getting a first hospital

:01:35. > :01:37.appointment, Andrea was seen Back in 2013, the health

:01:38. > :01:43.minister Mark Drakeford said he expected all potential cancer

:01:44. > :01:47.cases to be referred to a specialist But today's figures

:01:48. > :01:52.show that is not been happening in the vast majority

:01:53. > :01:55.of suspected breast cancer A Freedom of Information request

:01:56. > :01:58.by the Welsh Liberal Democrats revealed that across four

:01:59. > :02:02.of Wales' seven health boards, more than 11,000

:02:03. > :02:05.suspected breast cancer patients have waited longer than ten

:02:06. > :02:10.days to see a specialist since 2013. That's at least two thirds

:02:11. > :02:12.of all breast cancer referrals in those areas and there

:02:13. > :02:16.are wide variations in average waits, with patients

:02:17. > :02:19.waiting 24 days on average in the Aneurin Bevan

:02:20. > :02:21.Health Board area, compared to just 8.3

:02:22. > :02:25.days in Cwm Taf. The Minister was quite clear

:02:26. > :02:28.in his expectations back in 2013. It seems to me it was one

:02:29. > :02:33.of his top priorities, yet two and a half years down

:02:34. > :02:36.the line, far too many patients are not being seen within

:02:37. > :02:38.the timescale for the Welsh government had set itself and has

:02:39. > :02:42.set for the National Health Service. Cancer charities point to a rise

:02:43. > :02:45.in the number of cases of breast cancer in Wales as one

:02:46. > :02:47.reason behind the delays. It affects more women

:02:48. > :02:50.here than any other type of cancer. Once you've been diagnosed

:02:51. > :02:57.with breast cancer, you want your treatment

:02:58. > :03:00.to start as as possible. This may actually impact

:03:01. > :03:03.on your recovery and The Welsh Government says more

:03:04. > :03:09.people are surviving cancer in Wales They claim many women

:03:10. > :03:13.with breast cancer here starts treatment on the same day

:03:14. > :03:19.as the first appointment. There's been criticism tonight

:03:20. > :03:22.of a speech by the Prime Minister at the Welsh Conservative

:03:23. > :03:25.conference, which was dominated by arguments to remain

:03:26. > :03:27.in the European Union. Former Welsh Secretary David Jones

:03:28. > :03:31.said he was disappointed David Cameron had used the platform

:03:32. > :03:34.to promote the EU cause. Other senior Welsh Conservatives

:03:35. > :03:37.have also expressed concern at the focus on Europe

:03:38. > :03:40.rather than the Assembly. From Llangollen, here's

:03:41. > :03:42.our Political Editor, Welsh lamb was on the menu

:03:43. > :03:50.for David Cameron today. He used the visit to a farm

:03:51. > :03:56.in Denbighshire to stress the importance of remaining

:03:57. > :03:59.in the EU for among other things, the good of

:04:00. > :04:01.Welsh lamb experts. And then onto the conference

:04:02. > :04:04.and the very public and workmanlike handshake with probably the most

:04:05. > :04:07.high-profile farmer in Wales, Andrew RT Davies, the Labour --

:04:08. > :04:12.leader of the Welsh Conservatives The strain was there for all to see

:04:13. > :04:18.when David Cameron used large chunks of his speech to try to persuade

:04:19. > :04:22.people to remain in. People's livelihoods,

:04:23. > :04:28.people's life chances, people's families we are talking

:04:29. > :04:32.about and I say, don't put them at risk, don't take

:04:33. > :04:37.this leap in the dark. This was above all a speech

:04:38. > :04:41.by the Prime Minister to argue for the need to remain

:04:42. > :04:44.in the European Union, particularly

:04:45. > :04:47.for Welsh farmers. It was not though a speech that

:04:48. > :04:50.talked up Andrew RT Davies as a future First Minister,

:04:51. > :04:52.other than very briefly at the beginning, he hardly

:04:53. > :04:56.mentioned him at all by name. It went down well with those

:04:57. > :05:02.in the in camp but there was criticism from Conservatives

:05:03. > :05:04.campaigning to leave. It's understandable that people

:05:05. > :05:08.worry about a farm subsidies In actual reality,

:05:09. > :05:11.because the United Kingdom is in a net contributor of that

:05:12. > :05:15.over ?8 million a year, They are British

:05:16. > :05:20.subsidies for farmers. Those subsidies would still be

:05:21. > :05:23.there in the event of an exit. So it was wrong for

:05:24. > :05:26.the Prime Minister Earlier, Andrew RT Davies focus

:05:27. > :05:38.was firmly on the Assembly as he used his speech to set out

:05:39. > :05:40.the policies he'll be These include plans to allow people

:05:41. > :05:45.to keep ?100,000 of their assets before paying care home fees

:05:46. > :05:48.and to reduce income tax when it's The central message

:05:49. > :05:52.was the need for change. Conference, Labour have

:05:53. > :05:54.proven time and time again that they are bad

:05:55. > :05:57.for your business, bad for your school and

:05:58. > :06:00.bad for your health. Bad, lazy, complacent

:06:01. > :06:02.government, year after They've run out of steam

:06:03. > :06:07.and out of ideas. The Conservatives script over

:06:08. > :06:11.the past year has been to keep the momentum from the Welsh

:06:12. > :06:14.wins in the general election The challenge is keeping to that

:06:15. > :06:19.in the face of divisions over A man from Caernarfon

:06:20. > :06:28.who tried to kill his wife as they walked their children

:06:29. > :06:31.to school has been jailed for life 46-year-old Sylvan Parry attacked

:06:32. > :06:34.Fiona Parry on the first day Mold Crown Court heard how

:06:35. > :06:38.he repeatedly stamped on her head in front of their children

:06:39. > :06:40.and other parents. Mrs Parry, with the short blond

:06:41. > :06:47.hair, was left with a brain injury. Rugby and Wales' Under 20s

:06:48. > :06:50.are still on course for a junior Grand Slam, after a spectacular

:06:51. > :06:53.first-ever away win against England Wales won the Triple Crown

:06:54. > :07:00.in Bristol, beating England 42-16. Fly-half Dan Jones scored 17 points,

:07:01. > :07:09.including a try. Staying with rugby and Jamie Roberts

:07:10. > :07:12.says the Welsh players know how much is at stake when they take

:07:13. > :07:15.on England at Twickenham tomorrow. England go into the game

:07:16. > :07:17.with a point to prove, after Wales knocked them out

:07:18. > :07:39.of the Rugby World Cup. It's going to be a team that's very

:07:40. > :07:40.fired up and we have two weather the storm.

:07:41. > :07:45.The astronaut Tim Peake has posted this photo on social media tonight

:07:46. > :07:47.of Anglesey and part of the coast, taken from the International Space

:07:48. > :07:52.So let's see how the weekend weather's looking.

:07:53. > :07:58.It's not looking too bad weather wise for us here in Wales.

:07:59. > :08:01.This weekend, plenty of dry weather but there will be some cloud around,

:08:02. > :08:04.Sunday the best day with more in the way of sunshine.

:08:05. > :08:07.Tonight, most of the country dry but a few spots of light rain

:08:08. > :08:14.Cloud increasing later in the night in Powys and the South.

:08:15. > :08:20.A few mist and fog patches forming, not as cold as last night but chilly

:08:21. > :08:23.inland with a slight frost, temperatures in parts of mid Wales

:08:24. > :08:26.Tomorrow morning, cloudier than in the north

:08:27. > :08:29.A few spots of light rain, elsewhere dry.

:08:30. > :08:32.Bright in the south, with a few mist and fog

:08:33. > :08:36.Across the rest of the UK, there is a warning of a fog

:08:37. > :08:39.patches for southern, central and east England.

:08:40. > :08:42.These will slowly lift, most of England then dry and bright

:08:43. > :08:50.Cloud with outbreaks of rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland,

:08:51. > :08:53.wettest in the West of Scotland with a high of 12

:08:54. > :08:58.Closer to home, most places dry tomorrow afternoon,

:08:59. > :09:00.fairly cloudy, but some brighter spells likely.

:09:01. > :09:06.With a light to moderate breeze from the south.

:09:07. > :09:12.it's looking good for the rugby, dry and bright, with hardly

:09:13. > :09:16.Tomorrow night, most places dry but we may

:09:17. > :09:20.see a few spots of light rain in the West, and temperatures

:09:21. > :09:24.Sunday promises to be a better day, dry, a cloudy morning

:09:25. > :09:28.but it should brighten up quite nicely with more in the way

:09:29. > :09:31.of sunshine in the afternoon and it will turn out like spring,

:09:32. > :09:34.with a light breeze from the south or east.

:09:35. > :09:38.High pressure in charge as we head into next week,

:09:39. > :09:44.that means plenty more dry weather, some sunshine and overnight frost.

:09:45. > :09:52.In the meantime, from me and all of us on the programme,
