:00:15. > :00:18.on maintaining its Hawk fast-jet training aircraft,

:00:19. > :00:21.securing more than 470 jobs at RAF Valley on Anglesey.

:00:22. > :00:26.The armed forces use the fleet for military flying training.

:00:27. > :00:35.It's where almost all British fighter pilots come to train.

:00:36. > :00:38.The people flying these aircraft at RAF Valley could one day be

:00:39. > :00:43.carrying out a strikes over Iraq or Syria.

:00:44. > :00:47.And these are the Hawk jet planes they used to learn their skills.

:00:48. > :00:51.Today the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the Hawks will be

:00:52. > :00:57.Contracts worth over ?300 million have been awarded to maintain

:00:58. > :01:00.the planes and their engines, and to design and build

:01:01. > :01:06.Those contracts mean jobs, over 470 people work here at RAF

:01:07. > :01:11.Valley maintaining and servicing the Hawks.

:01:12. > :01:13.The announcement does not necessarily mean new jobs,

:01:14. > :01:15.but business as usual for tjhose already working

:01:16. > :01:23.It also means business as usual for those companies on Anglesey

:01:24. > :01:26.and further afield to supply RAF Valley with everything from catering

:01:27. > :01:31.Although it is a military facility it is of vital

:01:32. > :01:37.It offers high-quality employment, and creates disposable income

:01:38. > :01:42.which is distributed and spent across the island.

:01:43. > :01:45.RAF Valley is still one of the largest employers on Anglesey.

:01:46. > :01:50.There were threats of job losses are to be end of last year,

:01:51. > :01:54.but the Ministry of Defence confirmed in February that it

:01:55. > :01:58.will remain the fast jet training base until at least 2033.

:01:59. > :02:03.Officials say today's announcement makes the future even more secure.

:02:04. > :02:06.The delegation from the Welsh steel industry has just ended preliminary

:02:07. > :02:07.talks with Tata Steel officials in Mumbai,

:02:08. > :02:13.ahead of the TATA board meeting tomorrow to discuss the future

:02:14. > :02:19.Union representatives, steel workers, and the Aberavon MP,

:02:20. > :02:24.Stephen Kinnock, met in India at the company's headquarters.

:02:25. > :02:31.More than 700 job losses were announced at Port Talbot in January.
