:00:18. > :00:18.securing more than 470 jobs on Anglesey.

:00:22. > :00:34.It's where almost all British fighter pilots come to train.

:00:35. > :00:37.The people flying these aircraft at RAF Valley could one day be

:00:38. > :00:40.carrying out a strikes over Iraq or Syria.

:00:41. > :00:44.And these are the Hawk jet planes they used to learn their skills.

:00:45. > :00:47.Today the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the Hawks will be

:00:48. > :00:55.Contracts worth over ?300 million have been awarded to maintain

:00:56. > :00:58.the planes and their engines, and to design and build

:00:59. > :01:06.Those contracts mean jobs, over 470 people work here at RAF

:01:07. > :01:08.Valley maintaining and servicing the Hawks.

:01:09. > :01:10.The announcement does not necessarily mean new jobs,

:01:11. > :01:11.but business as usual for tjhose already working

:01:12. > :01:24.It also means business as usual for those companies on Anglesey

:01:25. > :01:26.and further afield to supply RAF Valley with everything from catering

:01:27. > :01:33.Although it is a military facility it is of vital

:01:34. > :01:36.It offers high-quality employment, and creates disposable income

:01:37. > :01:44.which is distributed and spent across the island.

:01:45. > :01:47.RAF Valley is still one of the largest employers on Anglesey.

:01:48. > :01:50.There were threats of job losses are to be end of last year,

:01:51. > :01:52.but the Ministry of Defence confirmed in February that it

:01:53. > :01:55.will remain the fast jet training base until at least 2033.

:01:56. > :02:05.Officials say today's announcement makes the future even more secure.

:02:06. > :02:07.The delegation from the Welsh steel industry has had preliminary talks

:02:08. > :02:10.with Tata Steel representatives in Mumbai ahead of the Tata board

:02:11. > :02:12.meeting tomorrow when the company discusses the future of the works

:02:13. > :02:16.More than 700 job losses were announced at the site in January.

:02:17. > :02:18.Union representatives and the Aberavon MP,

:02:19. > :02:20.Stephen Kinnock, met Tata officials to make the case

:02:21. > :02:34.We've come here resolute and determined to make that case.
