:05:51. > :05:55.said it would consider co-investing with a private buyer for Port
:05:56. > :06:00.Talbot. MPs have been trying to find out exactly what that would mean. I
:06:01. > :06:05.am not entirely sure what coal investment means in his terms. I
:06:06. > :06:08.agree with the Secretary of State that nationalisation is not a

:06:12. > :06:17.what may, they will be able to purchase products from the sites.
:06:18. > :06:20.The Business Secretary said it could mean the government taking on some
:06:21. > :06:26.of the plant 's debts. The key point is that any co-investment would have
:06:27. > :06:32.to be on the commercial terms, it can take a variety of forms. For
:06:33. > :06:34.example, it could be debt but again, it is a demonstration of all the
:06:35. > :06:39.options the government is looking at. Sajid Javid was criticised for
:06:40. > :06:42.travelling to Australia last month as Tata which is owned by an Indian
:06:43. > :06:52.conglomerate prepared to announced its sale plans. Under fire from MPs
:06:53. > :06:57.on the committee, his deputy defended her boss. He would not have
:06:58. > :07:03.gone to Australia if they thought they were closing their works. The
:07:04. > :07:07.mistake we made was when we got this message that perhaps there was not
:07:08. > :07:11.going to be the period of time we wanted. She said Sajid Javid had
:07:12. > :07:18.persuaded Adas deal to keep Port Talbot open while the search for a
:07:19. > :07:22.buyer goes on -- Tata Steel. What did we learn today? Three things.
:07:23. > :07:28.Firstly a clear signal from Sajid Javid on how far the government is
:07:29. > :07:34.prepared to go to keep Port Talbot open. He talked about possibly
:07:35. > :07:36.taking on the debts in terms of the future business with a potential
:07:37. > :07:40.buyer. The government determined really to oil the wheels for any
:07:41. > :07:48.deal for any potential buyer to take over the works there. Secondly, I
:07:49. > :07:52.think in terms of more British deal in defence Project, well, that
:07:53. > :07:57.sounds easier than it actually is. It can be more competent. Those
:07:58. > :08:00.tanks in Merthyr Tydfil, those light vehicles, they are being made with
:08:01. > :08:06.specialist steel from Sweden because that is the specialists deal that is
:08:07. > :08:09.required. Thirdly, MPs said they think they have a better sense of
:08:10. > :08:16.the timetable. Stephen Kinnock says Tata Steel started the sale process
:08:17. > :08:18.yesterday. They hope it will take 16 weeks, eight weeks for potential
:08:19. > :08:21.buyers to come forward, eight weeks for them to do due diligence. The
:08:22. > :08:30.clock is ticking. Thank you. Prison officials have rejected
:08:31. > :08:32.claims reported in some media outlets linking the death
:08:33. > :08:34.of an inmate to a smoking 40 year old Dean George was found
:08:35. > :08:38.dead in his cell on Sunday. An investigation into his death
:08:39. > :08:41.is due to be carried out. A man has been sentenced to life
:08:42. > :08:43.after being found guilty of murdering a Cardiff father
:08:44. > :08:45.with a hammer. 31-year-old James Williams,
:08:46. > :08:47.was with three friends when he chased Russell Peachey down
:08:48. > :08:50.the street in Grangetown The three other men
:08:51. > :08:56.were cleared of murder. How do we revive our high streets,
:08:57. > :08:59.struggling in the face of internet Well, a masterplan to revive Wrexham
:09:00. > :09:03.has been adopted by councillors with the hope that it can be
:09:04. > :09:06.improved for shoppers and traders. The aim is to fill empty shops,
:09:07. > :09:10.as well as attracting more cafe and leisure facilities to bring
:09:11. > :09:12.in more visitors in the evenings. You won't have to look hard to find
:09:13. > :09:19.vacant storefronts here, but Wrexham Council says
:09:20. > :09:21.the percentage of empty shops is around 14%,
:09:22. > :09:23.below the national average. The problem is the big brands have
:09:24. > :09:26.pulled out leaving discount The council's masterplan
:09:27. > :09:40.is a blueprint to try and make Wrexham a better place
:09:41. > :09:42.to stop and shop. Those who do visit the town
:09:43. > :09:44.centre have their own I think what could be done
:09:45. > :09:52.is like cheaper shop rent really. Like try and encourage more
:09:53. > :09:55.businesses to come into the towns, that would make it
:09:56. > :10:00.a lot better really. A lot of the shops have gone out
:10:01. > :10:04.of town but a lot of the shops that are opening our kind
:10:05. > :10:06.of reduced price ones. It would be good if they had
:10:07. > :10:10.some big names back in. This street has been described
:10:11. > :10:13.by some traders as a ghost town because so many businesses have
:10:14. > :10:15.either moved away or The council wants to stop
:10:16. > :10:19.the decline by keeping Wrexham The man leading the regeneration
:10:20. > :10:22.plan says it's about Why can't we be aspirational
:10:23. > :10:27.and have a hotel right I think there's a good opportunity
:10:28. > :10:34.there and it is working with landlords and valid in this
:10:35. > :10:37.framework that will enhance Filling empty shops with art
:10:38. > :10:39.galleries like this But the big problem is that
:10:40. > :10:48.there's little money When the big-name chains pull-out,
:10:49. > :10:52.it can also have an adverse financial effect on the smaller
:10:53. > :10:54.independent stores like this one. Alun Hughes runs a shop selling
:10:55. > :10:56.music, books and films. He says high business rates
:10:57. > :10:59.are keeping people away. It would be helpful if people
:11:00. > :11:01.shopped locally but people will shop And we have got to offer the best
:11:02. > :11:06.things and we cannot offer it if our cost base is too high
:11:07. > :11:09.and that is one of the problems. It would be really nice
:11:10. > :11:12.if people came into my shop. But I do appreciate they shop
:11:13. > :11:15.where their interests lie. And there are ways to revive
:11:16. > :11:17.fortunes without massive council spending according to a business
:11:18. > :11:19.expert at Glyndwr University. You can have as many facilities
:11:20. > :11:22.as you like. It needs support from people
:11:23. > :11:24.who both live here and work here. For example, I do go into town
:11:25. > :11:28.and I'd buy a lot of my provisions, The roadmap has been drawn up
:11:29. > :11:39.and the destination is clear, but some think it'll take more
:11:40. > :11:55.than that to bring some hope back Well, the long-term dream seems to
:11:56. > :12:01.be that on evenings like this people can do late-night shopping and six
:12:02. > :12:04.down outside and enjoy a coffee but there is not any money for this at
:12:05. > :12:09.the moment. In investment would have to come in from outside but at least
:12:10. > :12:12.they have now got this blueprint, if there is future government funding
:12:13. > :12:16.possible for the town centre, they will at East know what they want to
:12:17. > :12:24.do with that many and how they want to spend it. Still to come before
:12:25. > :12:26.7pm. War's broken out in the usually
:12:27. > :12:29.peaceful surroundings of Laugharne. There's a right old battle
:12:30. > :12:31.raging over parking. And it felt more like
:12:32. > :12:33.spring again today. Over 15 Celsius in Cardiff this
:12:34. > :12:36.afternoon but have we seen the last The deadly combination
:12:37. > :12:49.of an inexperienced driver travelling at speed and peer
:12:50. > :12:52.pressure led to the deaths of four The inquest heard 17-year-old
:12:53. > :12:56.Rhodri Miller-Binding had only passed his test two days
:12:57. > :12:59.before his car was involved in a head on crash with another car,
:13:00. > :13:02.bringing a grandmother home The inquest was told the teenagers
:13:03. > :13:06.were travelling in a nine car convoy and had been texting
:13:07. > :13:24.photos of the speedometer. It was a crash which ended the lives
:13:25. > :13:29.of four people and ruined the lives of many more. Rhodri Miller-Binding
:13:30. > :13:32.had just passed his test and he lost control of his car.

:13:41. > :13:44.The speed at which they were travelling, the amount of weight
:13:45. > :13:47.in his car, the dark, the adrenaline, the peer pressure,
:13:48. > :13:48.his inexperience, all of these factors contributed
:13:49. > :14:06.The court heard how his car was one of seven vehicles in a convoy
:14:07. > :14:10.heading for Brecon. One witness who saw them pull out of a lay-by at
:14:11. > :14:16.Storey Arms told his partner they were boy racers. After the crash,
:14:17. > :14:22.police seized 28 mobile phones from those at the scene and found
:14:23. > :14:25.messages about speed. One was recorded saying, it is madness,
:14:26. > :14:29.everyone is racing. But the coroner concluded that Rhodri Miller-Binding
:14:30. > :14:35.had not been breaking the speed limit. He said inexperience, his
:14:36. > :14:39.speed for the conditions of the road and peer pressure were a deadly
:14:40. > :14:43.combination which had caused him to lose control. After the hearing, the
:14:44. > :14:48.families of the other teenagers who died paid tribute to them. It has
:14:49. > :14:53.been almost impossible for us to put into words just how devastating the
:14:54. > :15:00.loss has been to us all. Not a day goes been high -- goes by without us
:15:01. > :15:07.knowing that lives will never be the same again. We would like to fight
:15:08. > :15:12.tag family and friends for love and support throughout this tragic time.
:15:13. > :15:19.We cannot be the same without our most caring loving son and brother.
:15:20. > :15:24.Not a day goes by without us thinking of that tragic night.
:15:25. > :15:29.Margaret Challis who was on her way home from the theatre in Brecon that
:15:30. > :15:33.night was no stranger to grieve. She had lost a brother and sister in the
:15:34. > :15:37.Aberfan disaster but she had gone on to rebuild life. Her son, one of her
:15:38. > :15:44.six children, said she would want to forgive. Today one important message
:15:45. > :15:49.for each family involved, your children are safe and they are being
:15:50. > :15:54.looked after by a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother
:15:55. > :16:00.who we are sure will wrap her arms around them and will continue to do
:16:01. > :16:03.so. The coroner is recommending a sign be put up at the scene to warn
:16:04. > :16:10.of the sweeping bend in the road. Welsh Labour have launched
:16:11. > :16:12.their assembly election campaign with a focus on the leadership
:16:13. > :16:15.of their leader Carwyn Jones. The party say their strategy based
:16:16. > :16:18.around personality is a reflection Our political editor Nick Servini

:16:36. > :16:37.all round in the sunshine We will have to wait until next week
:16:38. > :16:41.for the party's detailed In the meantime, this
:16:42. > :16:45.was all about Labour's intention to base much of their campaign
:16:46. > :16:47.on asking voters the simple question, who do you want
:16:48. > :16:49.as First Minister? It is all about personality
:16:50. > :16:52.and it is not about policy, It is partially about personality
:16:53. > :16:57.and partially about policy. I think we saw in the general
:16:58. > :17:04.election last year people literally at the last minute in the polling
:17:05. > :17:07.stations, I think, maybe thought, David Cameron looks the part
:17:08. > :17:09.more than anybody else. And they changed their
:17:10. > :17:11.minds there and then. So you cannot get away from the fact
:17:12. > :17:14.that people do make a judgment on who they think best looks
:17:15. > :17:20.the part for the job. Behind the scenes, Labour believe

:17:25. > :17:26.is playing well for them on the doorstep in the Assembly

:17:47. > :17:49.the Vale of Clwyd, it is the Ukip vote that lost us
:17:50. > :17:53.the Gower constituency. People understand this
:17:54. > :17:55.is a different election. This is an election for Wales
:17:56. > :17:58.and we are telling people the danger of them voting
:17:59. > :18:02.Ukip in this election, it is a fight between
:18:03. > :18:10.us and the Tories. So calm today but it may not last
:18:11. > :18:14.long, as opponents try to take the focus away from personality
:18:15. > :18:24.and on to Labour's record in power. Elsewhere on the campaign trail

:18:49. > :18:51.is the "main barrier" to higher education,
:18:52. > :18:54.not the cost of tuition. And the Welsh Conservatives have
:18:55. > :18:57.been on the campaign trail, in Swansea, and in Pembrokeshire,
