:00:08. > :00:11.Our Business Correspondent Brian Meechan will have the latest.

:00:12. > :00:13.Accused of forcing vulnerable men to work against their will.

:00:14. > :00:39.BBC Wales understands that the man who has been running Tata Steel's

:00:40. > :00:42.operations in Port Talbot and Llanwern is launching a bid

:00:43. > :00:44.for a management buyout of the company's

:00:45. > :00:48.Tata asked for expressions of interest in its UK businesses

:00:49. > :00:55.Over 6,000 jobs are at risk in Wales unless a buyer can be found.

:00:56. > :00:57.Our Business Correspondent Brian Meechan is here.

:00:58. > :01:12.We believe that Stuart Wilkie, who is one of the lead directors in the

:01:13. > :01:17.UK of Tata, he was at the forefront of the announcement and plan earlier

:01:18. > :01:24.in January for 750 job losses at Tata, mainly Port Talbot, he was the

:01:25. > :01:28.lead directors speaking to the media when Llanwern was mothballed last

:01:29. > :01:32.year, he is an incredibly significant figure and believe he is

:01:33. > :01:36.now in a position to launch a management buyout plan, bringing

:01:37. > :01:42.other people in the company and organisation together to put forward

:01:43. > :01:46.a proposal to take over country-mac's operations in the UK.

:01:47. > :01:57.Country-mac is losing ?1 million per day at Port Talbot. That is still a

:01:58. > :02:03.problem. Difficulties with the pension pot. This is a serious

:02:04. > :02:11.contender but it will need significant financial support. What

:02:12. > :02:14.would this mean for the Welsh sites? Ultimately, someone would come along

:02:15. > :02:17.with experience of running this industry and of these sites in

:02:18. > :02:24.particular and they would take that over. I think what is crucial is I

:02:25. > :02:28.believe the plan would to be remain with a blast furnace and make steel

:02:29. > :02:35.from scratch. The only other buyer has been bat liberty Steel in

:02:36. > :02:40.Newport. It wants to change to recycling steel, an arc furnace.

:02:41. > :02:43.There has been concern about that within the unions about potential

:02:44. > :02:48.job losses although Liberty say they can retrain people. The union said

:02:49. > :02:54.they would welcome any prompt discussion with Stuart Wilkie on any

:02:55. > :02:56.management buyout option, which is significant, they want the UK

:02:57. > :02:59.Government to look into that seriously.

:03:00. > :03:01.The trial has begun of four people accused of forcing two vulnerable

:03:02. > :03:04.men to carry out heavy labour under threat of violence.

:03:05. > :03:06.Cardiff Crown Court heard the men slept in cold sheds

:03:07. > :03:08.and on concrete floors and would be threatened

:03:09. > :03:15.with a beating if they refused to carry out their boss's demands.

:03:16. > :03:18.The jury heard one of them was expected to work

:03:19. > :03:25.Patrick Joseph Connors, now 59, ran a tarmacking business.

:03:26. > :03:30.Today the prosecution said he chose cunstomers who were vulnerable,

:03:31. > :03:33.charged inflated prices and forced two men to work for him

:03:34. > :03:41.When he bought Ton Y Pill Farm on the outskirts of Cardiff,

:03:42. > :03:45.the prosecution say it was derelict and initially the men lived

:03:46. > :03:49.there with no running water and no heat.

:03:50. > :03:51.Such were the conditions they endured over a long period,

:03:52. > :03:56.it was said, one of them tried to escape four times.

:03:57. > :03:59.When he ran away to Pontypridd, he was spotted, forced

:04:00. > :04:05.He was threatened with beating and told when he was gone

:04:06. > :04:09.The other man, it was said today, ran away to Scotland

:04:10. > :04:12.but was picked up in Aberdeen, put in the boot of a car

:04:13. > :04:19.The prosecution said that after this he thought he would never be free.

:04:20. > :04:22.Conditions, say the prosecution, were appalling.

:04:23. > :04:26.For years, the men worked long hours, living in sheds,

:04:27. > :04:31.Ill or injured, they were forced to work, treated like objects

:04:32. > :04:35.which could be abused, it was said.

:04:36. > :04:37.The court heard, when interviewed by police, Patrick Joseph Connors

:04:38. > :04:40.denied any wrongdoing and insisted he had looked after the two men well

:04:41. > :04:48.He has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of assault, four of kidnap

:04:49. > :04:54.All four defendants deny all the charges against them,

:04:55. > :04:57.including one count of forced or compulsory labour.

:04:58. > :05:02.The case is expected to last six weeks.

:05:03. > :05:04.The mobile phone industry needs to be better regulated to stop

:05:05. > :05:09.That's according to Citizens Advice Cymru.

:05:10. > :05:12.The charity also told BBC Wales that action is needed to stop mobile

:05:13. > :05:15.phone companies using what appear to be 'bullying' tactics

:05:16. > :05:20.The regulator, Ofcom, says it's working to

:05:21. > :05:24.Citizens Advice Cymru would like phone companies

:05:25. > :05:29.to put a cap on bills, as credit card companies do.

:05:30. > :05:32.The credit card company will look at how much you can afford to pay

:05:33. > :05:36.and they will set a limit for that credit card.

:05:37. > :05:39.We think that should happen with mobile phones as well,

:05:40. > :05:41.they should look at how much you are able to afford

:05:42. > :05:47.and they should cap that bill then, for example, at ?30 a month.

:05:48. > :05:49.A businessman has been jailed for life after stabbing his mother

:05:50. > :05:52.to death with a carving knife and fork.

:05:53. > :05:55.44-year-old Mark Stephens attacked his mother at their family

:05:56. > :05:58.home in Pencoed, claiming she criticised the way he ran

:05:59. > :06:04.Rita Stephens, who was 67, confronted him about mounting

:06:05. > :06:08.debts after Mr Stephens had been out drinking.

:06:37. > :06:40.in Rhondda Cynon Taff, Labour said that after 17 years it

:06:41. > :06:45.would continue to 'deliver' jobs and investment.

:06:46. > :06:48.We need to build on what we've done, that's true.

:06:49. > :06:50.But what we didn't do in this election was say, "Vote

:06:51. > :06:53.for us because we're a bit better than the rest."

:06:54. > :06:56.We have six pledges that are ambitious,

:06:57. > :07:01.We can't promise any number of pie in the sky ideas because people

:07:02. > :07:05.It's a question of building on what we've done so far and also,

:07:06. > :07:07.of course, looking forward to the next five years.

:07:08. > :07:10.Two-time World Triathlon Champion Helen Jenkins says she's excited

:07:11. > :07:13.about moving on from four years of injuries and setbacks as she now

:07:17. > :07:19.The Great Britain Triathlon team will be confirmed in a few weeks,

:07:20. > :07:22.but after a Gold medal in Australia recently, the 32-year-old from

:07:37. > :07:39.I knew training had gone well and that's all I had focused

:07:45. > :07:46.I hadn't really considered it that much and now, yeah,

:07:47. > :07:48.I've got to start thinking about it a bit more.

:08:20. > :08:25.the day. Starry skies and light winds tonight, a touch of frost and

:08:26. > :08:28.the potential for some mist and fog forming tomorrow. High-pressure in

:08:29. > :08:34.charge tomorrow, blocking any weather systems coming in. Make the

:08:35. > :08:38.most of it as it all changes by the end of the week. First thing

:08:39. > :08:43.tomorrow, a chilly start but the sunshine will help temperatures to

:08:44. > :08:50.recover quickly. Breezy long to South coast but feeling warmth in

:08:51. > :09:01.the sunshine. Lovely sunny weather tomorrow, apart from the wind on the

:09:02. > :09:04.south coast taking the edge off. Here in Wales, a lovely afternoon

:09:05. > :09:07.and we will start to see some high-level cloud coming in from the

:09:08. > :09:12.south and it will make the sunshine hazy. A lovely afternoon and

:09:13. > :09:17.temperatures getting up to 16, light winds away from the coast. A fairly

:09:24. > :09:29.so temperatures will be held up. Clear skies, 2-3dC. Light winds into

:09:36. > :09:41.weather, more cloud but still dry so still an enjoyable day. 12-14dC. On

:09:42. > :09:48.Friday, thicker cloud, a little bit of rain, the wind picks up, and by

:09:49. > :09:51.the weekend turning colder with some wintry showers.
