:00:11. > :00:12.the government considers changes to their pension scheme.

:00:13. > :00:15.And a jury hears Finlay Thomas was murdered by his mother's boyfriend -

:00:16. > :00:39.The UK government is considering cuts to British

:00:40. > :00:42.It comes after concerns that the fund - and its

:00:43. > :00:51.?500 million deficit - are an obstacle for

:00:52. > :00:53.Ministers are expected to announce a consultation

:00:54. > :00:57.Meanwhile Tata is still assessing bids for its British operations,

:00:58. > :01:01.And today, hundreds of steelworkers gathered in London, to urge

:01:02. > :01:03.the UK government to give the industry more support.

:01:04. > :01:16.Here's our Business Correspondent, Brian Meechan.

:01:17. > :01:21.The ?500 million deficit in the pension scheme has been a troubling

:01:22. > :01:26.issue threatening to derail any attempts to sell the business. The

:01:27. > :01:30.UK Government are looking at a legal change meaning less money for those

:01:31. > :01:36.who pay into the scheme but also making a sale easier or encouraging

:01:37. > :01:37.them not to sell at all. It is the latest twist in another eventful

:01:38. > :01:37.day. Steelworkers from Wales joined

:01:38. > :01:41.colleagues to take their message As well as a strategy to help

:01:42. > :01:45.traditional industries, they want ministers to ensure that

:01:46. > :01:48.Tata remains a responsible seller. But these workers will have to wait

:01:49. > :01:51.a bit longer to find out which of the several bidders

:01:52. > :01:54.will progress to the next stage Union members at the rally say

:01:55. > :01:58.they have a lot to offer buyers. We've got the best

:01:59. > :02:03.workforce in Wales. We believe, we passionately believe

:02:04. > :02:06.that we've got a long-term Steel and Port Talbot go

:02:07. > :02:10.hand-in-hand. This town was built

:02:11. > :02:13.in the steel industry. Without it the town would die,

:02:14. > :02:15.a ghost town. Thousands of residents relying

:02:16. > :02:24.on the steel so much. It's a rare sight to see

:02:25. > :02:26.a Conservative Government minister We have looked at everything,

:02:27. > :02:33.and continue to look at everything, because we want to make sure

:02:34. > :02:36.that they stay open. The business secretary, Sajid Javid,

:02:37. > :02:42.has been in Mumbai meeting the company's bosses ahead

:02:43. > :02:43.of the board meeting According to the UK government,

:02:44. > :02:50.discussions are positive but there Tata bosses say the

:02:51. > :02:56.process is ongoing. At all points in time we have been

:02:57. > :02:59.working closely with the British government both at the central level

:03:00. > :03:02.with the Business Minister and regional level in

:03:03. > :03:09.the Welsh government. I think, fundamentally,

:03:10. > :03:15.the premise of conversation is how to make this

:03:16. > :03:20.into an orderly transaction. Carwyn Jones also went to Mumbai

:03:21. > :03:23.to meet Tata bosses after first He surprised many by saying

:03:24. > :03:30.the Excalibur management buyout bid to takeover the company didn't yet

:03:31. > :03:33.have the funding it needed and he would like to see them

:03:34. > :03:36.working with the Liberty bid. The first minister is also raising

:03:37. > :03:50.concerns about the deficit It's for them to decide how they

:03:51. > :03:53.want to work together or not but what I want to see is thence that

:03:54. > :03:55.are sustainable and that will provide a future.

:03:56. > :03:58.So the wait goes on for the workers but it's clear they'll continue

:03:59. > :04:02.to make their voices heard as this sales process marches on.

:04:03. > :04:05.A jury at Cardiff Crown Court has been hearing how a 17-month-old

:04:06. > :04:07.toddler from the Rhondda was murdered in a "deliberate

:04:08. > :04:13.Prosecutors say Finley Thomas was killed by his mother's boyfriend

:04:14. > :04:18.Sean Buckley denies murder, and both he and Chloe Thomas

:04:19. > :04:28.Finlay Thomas lived for just 17 months.

:04:29. > :04:31.The toddler's life ended abruptly following incident at his home

:04:32. > :04:34.in this street in Clydach Vale, near Tonypandy.

:04:35. > :04:36.He lived in the house with his mother, Chloe Thomas,

:04:37. > :04:42.When ambulances were called to the house on the afternoon

:04:43. > :04:44.of the 23rd of September 2014 paramedics were told

:04:45. > :04:49.by Sean Buckley that Finlay had fallen down the stairs.

:04:50. > :04:53.Adding that he had done it before, not so long ago.

:04:54. > :04:55.Finlay was taken to the local hospital, but later died

:04:56. > :04:57.after being transferred to the University Hospital

:04:58. > :04:59.A postmortem examination gave his cause of death

:05:00. > :05:07.The prosecutor, Roger Thomas, told the jury at Cardiff Crown Court

:05:08. > :05:09.that medical experts believe the severity of Finlay's brain

:05:10. > :05:14.injury meant it was highly unlikely it was caused by a simple fall down

:05:15. > :05:20.the stairs in a house in this street.

:05:21. > :05:22.He said it was more typically seen in abuse caused by shaking

:05:23. > :05:26.He told the court this was not caused by an accident,

:05:27. > :05:28.but a deliberate and vicious act by Sean Buckley,

:05:29. > :05:30.who had given a deceitful and manufactured account

:05:31. > :05:32.of what happened, assisted by the lies and support

:05:33. > :05:38.Cardiff Crown Court heard that doctors who examined Finlay's body

:05:39. > :05:43.found previous multiple bleeds and injuries to his head and spine.

:05:44. > :05:46.A garden chair was produced as an exhibit, and the jury was told

:05:47. > :05:48.the toddler also had injuries consistent with him either

:05:49. > :05:53.being struck with it, or struck against it.

:05:54. > :05:55.There was also evidence of bleeding to his eyes,

:05:56. > :06:06.As the case was outlined to the jury, Sean Buckley

:06:07. > :06:10.But Finley's mother often broke down in tears as she sat

:06:11. > :06:14.Sean Buckley denies murder, both he and Chloe Thomas deny

:06:15. > :06:16.cruelty to a child under the age of 16.

:06:17. > :06:18.The case is expected to last up to five weeks.

:06:19. > :06:22.Nick Palitt, BBC Wales Today, Cardiff Crown Court.

:06:23. > :06:24.The performance of the Welsh Ambulance Service has improved -

:06:25. > :06:26.after a deterioration in response times during the winter.

:06:27. > :06:29.In April - 71% of emergency vehicles responded to immediately

:06:30. > :06:30.life-threatening calls within eight minutes - that's up

:06:31. > :06:35.The target is that 65% of ambulances should get to so called 'red

:06:36. > :06:49.Black and minority ethnic communities in Wales do not think

:06:50. > :06:54.the EU referendum is 'for them', according to a campaign group.

:06:55. > :06:56.Simon Woolley, from Operation Black Vote,

:06:57. > :07:03.which has taken a neutral stance on the referendum, says communities

:07:04. > :07:08.Mr Woolley said he was disappointed at the turnout for its voter

:07:09. > :07:11.registration event in Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan this evening.

:07:12. > :07:13.Just the local assembly member and two members

:07:14. > :07:18.There is a disproportionality in minority communities

:07:19. > :07:20.engaging in this debate and politics in general.

:07:21. > :07:23.It belongs to us, the debate is enriched by our involvement

:07:24. > :07:25.and I would also say that our involvement should

:07:26. > :07:28.and could quell some of the toxicity that is out there particularly

:07:29. > :07:51.is the Wales striker Tom Bradshaw is out of contention for you go to

:07:52. > :07:53.extreme with a calf injury. He will now leave the training camp in

:07:54. > :08:00.Portugal. Another notable absentee is Gareth Bale. Joe Ledley has been

:08:01. > :08:09.training with the Wales squad a fortnight after fracturing his leg.

:08:10. > :08:13.We will be able to increase his Lord and tolerance as the days go by and

:08:14. > :08:17.hopefully by the end of the week, that is where we want to be and it

:08:18. > :08:19.allows him to be named to the squad. We will be looking to drop him and

:08:20. > :08:25.at some point in the week. Well, we're in for a bit

:08:26. > :08:27.of a mixed day tomorrow. Time to get the weather forecast

:08:29. > :08:31.day and we will hang A little bit of rain

:08:32. > :08:35.across North Wales, light Further south, drier and cloudy

:08:36. > :08:40.and the temperature and not The weather front lingering

:08:44. > :08:44.tomorrow and becoming drier from the south,

:08:45. > :08:47.certainly an improvement tomorrow. More in the way of sunshine building

:08:48. > :08:50.from the south as the rain clearing,

:08:51. > :08:54.some hints of brightness and a few showers as we head

:08:55. > :08:56.into the afternoon. For the rest of the British Isles
