:00:58. > :01:01.And today, hundreds of steelworkers gathered in London, to urge
:01:02. > :01:03.the UK government to give the industry more support.
:01:04. > :01:16.Here's our Business Correspondent, Brian Meechan.
:01:17. > :01:21.The ?500 million deficit in the pension scheme has been a troubling
:01:22. > :01:26.issue threatening to derail any attempts to sell the business. The
:01:27. > :01:30.UK Government are looking at a legal change meaning less money for those
:01:31. > :01:36.who pay into the scheme but also making a sale easier or encouraging
:01:37. > :01:37.them not to sell at all. It is the latest twist in another eventful
:01:38. > :01:37.day. Steelworkers from Wales joined
:01:38. > :01:41.colleagues to take their message As well as a strategy to help
:01:42. > :01:45.traditional industries, they want ministers to ensure that
:01:46. > :01:48.Tata remains a responsible seller. But these workers will have to wait
:01:49. > :01:51.a bit longer to find out which of the several bidders
:01:52. > :01:54.will progress to the next stage Union members at the rally say
:01:55. > :01:58.they have a lot to offer buyers. We've got the best
:01:59. > :02:03.workforce in Wales. We believe, we passionately believe
:02:04. > :02:06.that we've got a long-term Steel and Port Talbot go
:02:07. > :02:10.hand-in-hand. This town was built
:02:11. > :02:13.in the steel industry. Without it the town would die,
:02:14. > :02:15.a ghost town. Thousands of residents relying
:02:16. > :02:24.on the steel so much. It's a rare sight to see
:02:25. > :02:26.a Conservative Government minister We have looked at everything,
:02:27. > :02:33.and continue to look at everything, because we want to make sure
:02:34. > :02:36.that they stay open. The business secretary, Sajid Javid,
:02:37. > :02:42.has been in Mumbai meeting the company's bosses ahead
:02:43. > :02:43.of the board meeting According to the UK government,
:02:44. > :02:50.discussions are positive but there Tata bosses say the
:02:51. > :02:56.process is ongoing. At all points in time we have been
:02:57. > :02:59.working closely with the British government both at the central level

:03:03. > :03:09.the Welsh government. I think, fundamentally,
:03:10. > :03:15.the premise of conversation is how to make this

:03:24. > :03:30.the Excalibur management buyout bid to takeover the company didn't yet

:04:03. > :04:05.A jury at Cardiff Crown Court has been hearing how a 17-month-old
:04:06. > :04:07.toddler from the Rhondda was murdered in a "deliberate
:04:08. > :04:13.Prosecutors say Finley Thomas was killed by his mother's boyfriend
:04:14. > :04:18.Sean Buckley denies murder, and both he and Chloe Thomas
:04:19. > :04:28.Finlay Thomas lived for just 17 months.
:04:29. > :04:31.The toddler's life ended abruptly following incident at his home
:04:32. > :04:34.in this street in Clydach Vale, near Tonypandy.
:04:35. > :04:36.He lived in the house with his mother, Chloe Thomas,
:04:37. > :04:42.When ambulances were called to the house on the afternoon
:04:43. > :04:44.of the 23rd of September 2014 paramedics were told
:04:45. > :04:49.by Sean Buckley that Finlay had fallen down the stairs.
:04:50. > :04:53.Adding that he had done it before, not so long ago.
:04:54. > :04:55.Finlay was taken to the local hospital, but later died
:04:56. > :04:57.after being transferred to the University Hospital
:04:58. > :04:59.A postmortem examination gave his cause of death
:05:00. > :05:07.The prosecutor, Roger Thomas, told the jury at Cardiff Crown Court
:05:08. > :05:09.that medical experts believe the severity of Finlay's brain
:05:10. > :05:14.injury meant it was highly unlikely it was caused by a simple fall down
:05:15. > :05:20.the stairs in a house in this street.
:05:21. > :05:22.He said it was more typically seen in abuse caused by shaking
:05:23. > :05:26.He told the court this was not caused by an accident,
:05:27. > :05:28.but a deliberate and vicious act by Sean Buckley,
:05:29. > :05:30.who had given a deceitful and manufactured account
:05:31. > :05:32.of what happened, assisted by the lies and support
:05:33. > :05:38.Cardiff Crown Court heard that doctors who examined Finlay's body
:05:39. > :05:43.found previous multiple bleeds and injuries to his head and spine.
:05:44. > :05:46.A garden chair was produced as an exhibit, and the jury was told
:05:47. > :05:48.the toddler also had injuries consistent with him either
:05:49. > :05:53.being struck with it, or struck against it.
:05:54. > :05:55.There was also evidence of bleeding to his eyes,
:05:56. > :06:06.As the case was outlined to the jury, Sean Buckley
:06:07. > :06:10.But Finley's mother often broke down in tears as she sat
:06:11. > :06:14.Sean Buckley denies murder, both he and Chloe Thomas deny
:06:15. > :06:16.cruelty to a child under the age of 16.
:06:17. > :06:18.The case is expected to last up to five weeks.
