:00:58. > :01:02.athletes should be asked to go to the Rio Olympics. The virus is

:01:03. > :01:07.linked to serious birth defects. The fear is that athletes could contract

:01:08. > :01:11.Zika and bring it home but the World Health Organisation has dismissed

:01:12. > :01:15.the concerns. The man responsible for the Welsh Olympic hopefuls says

:01:16. > :01:19.Sport Wales are confident in the official guidance given by the

:01:20. > :01:24.authorities. It is pretty simple guidance, to try to stay away from

:01:25. > :01:30.the areas where mosquitoes might proliferate, stagnant water areas,

:01:31. > :01:35.that type, swamp conditions. Their advice is to wear long clothing,

:01:36. > :01:39.long trousers rather than shorts, and use a particular type of

:01:40. > :01:47.repellent which has a high concentration of deet. Some Welsh

:01:48. > :01:51.athletes are considering flying into Rio for the event and flying out

:01:52. > :01:55.against rate afterwards in order to limit their risks but officials say

:01:56. > :02:00.in reality a lot of them won't even have considered the issue, they are

:02:01. > :02:04.so focused on performance and their main aim - coming home with a medal.

:02:05. > :02:06.BBC Wales understands around 100 jobs could be at risk
