:02:17. > :02:21.Walkers took pictures and video of the unfolding drama. We were

:02:35. > :02:40.You could smell the fumes in the air. I didn't pay too much attention

:21:11. > :21:14.real medal prospect European champion Joe Cortina's polemics have
:21:15. > :21:24.come to an end. This but this vision by the judges meant he lost. He
:21:25. > :21:28.dominated the last round and hit me a lot on the body. He slowed me
:21:29. > :21:42.down. I could not pick the place back up. It could have gone my way
:21:43. > :21:49.maybe. Better news for Welsh roller Victoria Thornley and Katherine
:21:50. > :21:52.Grainger. Second in their heat and through to the double sculls final
:21:53. > :21:58.on Thursday and ever closer to fulfilling their Olympic dream. We
:21:59. > :22:02.wanted to win the race but we are in the final and that is the one we
:22:03. > :22:07.need to bring more with God. Fellow Welshman Chris Barclay will not be
:22:08. > :22:11.competing again. Fourth in the men's lightweight four semifinal and
:22:12. > :22:14.narrowly missing out on Thursday's final.
:22:15. > :22:17.Wales' Geraint Thomas will represent Great Britain in the Olympic Games
:22:18. > :22:18.time trial alongside three-time Tour de France winner
:22:19. > :22:22.It comes after the 30-year-old escaped unscathed from a crash
:22:23. > :22:25.Several competitors from other nations
:22:26. > :22:28.Now, it might not be the Maracana Stadium in Rio,
:22:29. > :22:31.but in its own way the handball court in the village
:22:32. > :22:33.of Nelson near Caerphilly is just as important.
:22:34. > :22:35.Back in the 19th century, courts were dotted throughout
:22:36. > :22:52.but this is the very last one remaining.
:22:53. > :22:59.This is Nelson. This is the Nelson handball court which was built in
:23:00. > :23:05.the 1860s. It has been continuously played on since then and we play
:23:06. > :23:09.handball. The mining history of the handball history are so interwoven
:23:10. > :23:14.it's difficult to separate. When this was built there were three
:23:15. > :23:26.collieries in Nelson. It was built to service those miners. There were
:23:27. > :23:31.handball courts throughout Wales from Anglesey all the way down to
:23:32. > :23:35.Aberystwyth. This is the last one. This is the last handball court in
:23:36. > :23:40.Wales. It was built by a coal miner who was the landlord of the Royal
:23:41. > :23:43.public house and he built it to attract the trade away from the
:23:44. > :23:49.Nelson in which also had a handball court. But this one was a handball
:23:50. > :23:54.court which could get all the spectators around the outside. It's
:23:55. > :24:02.amazing to see someone people watching a game of handball. They
:24:03. > :24:05.were all minors. This is 1906. I started watching the older
:24:06. > :24:13.generation of men when I was a boy. I used to stand in the corner. They
:24:14. > :24:18.would show you how to play the game. It was just something you did.
:24:19. > :24:21.Simplicity is all you need because all you need is a ball and a wall.
:24:22. > :24:31.To me it's the best game in the world. You are outdoors and it is
:24:32. > :24:35.purulent energy I think. Especially difficult at the moment to get
:24:36. > :24:40.youngsters away from their computers. I want to see people
:24:41. > :24:42.playing the game. I want to see this court being used for another 150
:24:43. > :24:47.years. Let's get the latest weather
:24:48. > :24:50.forecast for Wales now with Derek. I'm going to stick my neck out,
:24:51. > :24:54.but if all goes to plan we could be Temperatures soaring
:24:55. > :24:58.to 28C in places. In the meantime, it's a little
:24:59. > :25:00.on the cool side. This evening, a few heavy
:25:01. > :25:09.showers in the north. These will spread
:25:10. > :25:11.further south overnight. Temperatures inland falling as low
:25:12. > :25:19.as 8C in the countryside. Tomorrow's chart shows high pressure
:25:20. > :25:24.south west of Ireland with a frontal system moving
:25:25. > :25:28.in from the Atlantic across the UK. Here's the picture for
:25:29. > :25:31.8:00am in the morning. A reasonable start to the day
:25:32. > :25:34.for most of us. The far west and northwest
:25:35. > :25:42.cloudy with spots of rain. During the day, it will
:25:43. > :25:50.cloud over everywhere Most of the rain in
:25:51. > :25:55.the west and northwest. The cloud cover won't
:25:56. > :26:00.help temperatures. Disappointing and cooler
:26:01. > :26:03.than today with a light It's the last day of
:26:04. > :26:06.the Anglesey Show tomorrow. The Annual Vale of Glamorgan Show
:26:07. > :26:13.is taking place tomorrow. The morning the best
:26:14. > :26:15.part of the day. Dry and bright but clouding over
:26:16. > :26:18.with spots of light rain afternoon. Tomorrow night will be cloudy
:26:19. > :26:20.and damp, especially Drier in the south east
:26:21. > :26:26.and by the end of the night more On Thursday, a little
:26:27. > :26:32.rain in the north. The cloud breaking with some
:26:33. > :26:36.sunshine and warmer. Drizzle possible in the Brecon
:26:37. > :26:45.Beacons and Snowdonia. Highest temperatures in Flintshire
:26:46. > :26:50.with a southwesterly breeze. Over the weekend, spots of light
:26:51. > :26:53.rain on Saturday will clear. The best of the sunshine
:26:54. > :27:00.in the south. Next week, a brief hot spell lasting
:27:01. > :27:19.for a couple of days. A reminder of our top story. An RAF
:27:20. > :27:23.helicopter has caught fire on Tim Peake in Snowdonia after a Catalan
:27:24. > :27:29.and unexpectedly due to a technical problem. Clouds of thick smoke were
:27:30. > :27:32.billowing from Yr Aran south of Snowdon itself. Emergency services
:27:33. > :27:34.rushed to the scene and all five people on board are safe and did not
:27:35. > :27:37.need hospital treatment. We'll be back after
:27:38. > :27:40.the BBC News at 10:00pm. From all of us here,
:27:41. > :27:43.have a good evening.
