:00:20. > :00:22.flood prevention works in the region to be completed.

:00:23. > :00:26.On Boxing day last year, major roads were shut

:00:27. > :00:28.and Talybont in Gwynedd was underwater for several hours.

:00:29. > :00:31.A new flood defence system for the village

:00:32. > :00:34.was opened in the Autumn, but work on an advanced drainage

:00:35. > :00:36.system for part of the A55 is yet to be completed.

:00:37. > :00:49.Boxing Day, 2015, and Talybont in Gwynedd was underwater.

:00:50. > :00:52.The second bad flood in the village in less than four years.

:00:53. > :00:55.And the second time Mrs Evans watched helplessly as floodwaters

:00:56. > :00:58.About 8:15, I thought, you know, what is the noise?

:00:59. > :01:06.And the noise, the force, out here was like the river had

:01:07. > :01:11.A year later, and some residents have only just moved back.

:01:12. > :01:12.But now, villagers are cautiously optimistic it

:01:13. > :01:19.After the flooding in 2012, a flood defence plan was designed.

:01:20. > :01:22.But money for the project wasn't announced until February this year.

:01:23. > :01:26.And the work wasn't officially completed until October.

:01:27. > :01:28.But the local councillor says the scheme has already helped

:01:29. > :01:37.Following last year's flood, the scheme is now in place.

:01:38. > :01:40.And, as it showed a few weeks ago, when it rained quite

:01:41. > :01:42.heavily on the hills, it did actually divert a significant

:01:43. > :01:49.But it wasn't just parts of Gwynedd underwater a year ago today.

:01:50. > :01:53.Natural Resources Wales estimates 100 properties suffered

:01:54. > :01:55.flooding in 40 communities, from Conwy to Beaumaris

:01:56. > :02:01.on Anglesey, where the castle moat burst its banks.

:02:02. > :02:04.The pumps in attendance had travelled from Newtown in Powys.

:02:05. > :02:06.The appliance didn't get to the island because

:02:07. > :02:17.There's been criticism that a ?22 million advanced drainage

:02:18. > :02:24.system to prevent a repeat of this scene has yet to begin in earnest.

:02:25. > :02:26.But the Government says the negotiations with landowners

:02:27. > :02:36.For now, the residents are putting their faith in the work

:02:37. > :02:38.that has been completed, and keeping an eye on the forecasts.

:02:39. > :02:40.Prisoners caused a disturbance lasting 40 minutes at

:02:41. > :02:45.The Ministry of Justice says no staff or inmates were injured

:02:46. > :02:47.during the incident on one wing, and all prisoners were

:02:48. > :02:53.Hundreds of shoppers started queing in the middle
