:01:17. > :01:20.bringing to an end more than 40 years of electricity generation.

:01:21. > :01:23.Its operators say the decommissioning process

:01:24. > :01:26.is on track despite some problems with equipment.

:01:27. > :01:30.After two more years, it's expected all the most

:01:31. > :01:33.radioactive material will have been removed from the site.

:01:34. > :01:39.On its way off site, another flask of radioactive

:01:40. > :01:44.material, spent fuel cells leaving Wylfa for Sellafield in Cumbria.

:01:45. > :01:52.Ashley White heads up what is called safety case at the plant.

:01:53. > :01:55.Typically, we ship around five of these a week

:01:56. > :01:57.during the de-fuelling period and have around

:01:58. > :02:02.500 sent of site before we actually finish de-fuelling here at Wylfa.

:02:03. > :02:06.Before shutdown, Wylfa is being run from its control room.

:02:07. > :02:11.Now it is the de-fuelling operation rather than electricity generation

:02:12. > :02:16.But it is out on the floor of the massive reactor room

:02:17. > :02:18.that the real work is being done.

:02:19. > :02:22.Special equipment used to remove spent fuel elements from the

:02:23. > :02:29.They were allowed to cool for 100 days before de-fuelling.

:02:30. > :02:31.And there have been some problem since.

:02:32. > :02:34.For the shutdown of thing went according

:02:35. > :02:36.to plan, and through the 100 day outage.

:02:37. > :02:41.The reliability of the defuelling machinery through the sort of period

:02:42. > :02:44.up to now has not been what we would have liked

:02:45. > :02:47.but we're working our way through that.

:02:48. > :02:50.You can see the dedication of the people on site.

:02:51. > :02:53.A lot of work has been done in the machines getting them ready,

:02:54. > :02:58.there is also a maintenance schedule to make sure everything is safe

:02:59. > :03:01.on that machine so they are doing a lot of the checks on there before

:03:02. > :03:06.we hand it over from maintenance teams to the operation teams.

:03:07. > :03:10.It is estimated it will be another ten years before enough radioactive

:03:11. > :03:13.material is removed to put Wylfa into what is called,

:03:14. > :03:18.Another 100 years before the site can be cleared.

:03:19. > :03:22.Over time the buildings here will reduce in size but it

:03:23. > :03:25.will be a long time before Wylfa disappears

:03:26. > :03:31.Newly released papers show that Margaret Thatcher questioned

:03:32. > :03:34.whether more money should be given to thousands of people affected

:03:35. > :03:37.by severe flooding along the North Wales coast in 1990.

:03:38. > :03:40.In a raft of previously secret documents

:03:41. > :03:44.published by the National Archives, the former prime minister asks

:03:45. > :03:50.if the ?50,000 Welsh Office donation seemed low.

:03:51. > :03:53.They became known as the Towyn floods as the seaside resort

:03:54. > :03:57.was most badly affected by a major breach of its sea wall.

:03:58. > :04:00.But large stretches of coast across North Wales were also hit.

:04:01. > :04:03.5,000 people had to leave their homes and caravan parks

:04:04. > :04:08.A fund was established to offer relief to the worst hit.

:04:09. > :04:11.For the first time it's been revealed that Margaret Thatcher

:04:14. > :04:18.The National Archives have released cabinet minutes which show she urged

:04:19. > :04:22.the then Welsh Secretary to ask the Treasury for more.

:04:23. > :04:25.I dare say that within the Cabinet, different people had different views

:04:26. > :04:29.but of course we had the Mayor of Colwyn's fund which amounted

:04:30. > :04:32.to nearly ?1 million to which ordinary people

:04:33. > :04:37.Although public donations helped raise around ?1 million,

:04:38. > :04:39.Wyn Roberts was among the victims who felt

:04:40. > :04:45.There were nearly 2,000 homes flooded.

:04:46. > :04:56.I mean, the camps got a lot of money because their places were all upset.

:04:57. > :05:01.But they did nothing for the people living here, nothing at all.

:05:02. > :05:04.This area has flooded several more times since 1990

:05:05. > :05:06.although there are many defences in place.

:05:07. > :05:09.People whose homes were devastated 27 years ago are
