:00:31. > :00:35.The new curriculum proposed by Professor Graham Donaldson

:00:36. > :00:46.heralds the biggest shake-up in education in a generation.

:00:47. > :00:48.With learning divided into six areas, from the expressive arts,

:00:49. > :00:54.Covering pupils from the age of three right up to 16,

:00:55. > :00:56.it will expect all teachers to deliver learning and literacy,

:00:57. > :00:58.numeracy and digital competency and IT skills.

:00:59. > :01:01.It's less focused on formal testing and aims to give

:01:02. > :01:02.teachers more flexibility in tailoring their lessons around

:01:03. > :01:06.However, one union believes its implementation should be delayed

:01:07. > :01:09.after a survey revealed teachers just aren't ready for it to be fully

:01:10. > :01:16.We know, for example, that some 45% of teachers do not

:01:17. > :01:19.feel competent with regards to the introduction

:01:20. > :01:21.of the new digital competency framework, which is coming in,

:01:22. > :01:23.the first level of the new curriculum that's coming in.

:01:24. > :01:28.A higher proportion, 71% of supply teachers and nearly

:01:29. > :01:31.40% of schoolteachers lacked confidence or understanding

:01:32. > :01:36.of Donaldson itself and what is proposed.

:01:37. > :01:39.68 pioneer schools were chosen to lead the way in developing

:01:40. > :01:40.the new curriculum, and more have followed.

:01:41. > :01:43.The unions say though they are fully in favour

:01:44. > :01:46.of the changes, there is confusion about what they're

:01:47. > :01:50.They want Education Secretary Kirsty Williams to review

:01:51. > :01:51.the way the new curriculum will be introduced.

:01:52. > :01:53.The Welsh Government says it is collectively

:01:54. > :01:58.A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was seriously injured
