:04:32. > :04:34.of the attack. His newborn son will be 25 years old before his father is

:04:35. > :04:36.even eligible for parole. A secondary school teacher

:04:37. > :04:38.from Bridgend has appeared before a disciplinary panel -

:04:39. > :04:40.accused of having sex with a pupil on a school trip,

:04:41. > :04:43.after a night drinking with her. The teacher denies those

:04:44. > :04:46.allegations, but admits he spent the evening

:04:47. > :04:48.with her in the hotel bar. A panel from the Education Workforce

:04:49. > :04:51.Council must now decide whether his actions amount

:04:52. > :04:52.to unacceptable From the hearing in Cardiff

:04:53. > :05:05.here's Nick Palit. The hearing of the education

:05:06. > :05:10.workforce council is being held at this central Cardiff hotel and the

:05:11. > :05:16.panel heard how a teacher at a comprehensive School in Bridgend is

:05:17. > :05:20.facing a number of allegations concerning his behaviour during a

:05:21. > :05:25.school trip and they have to decide whether it is unacceptable

:05:26. > :05:30.professional conduct. It is alleged on the last might of the trip the

:05:31. > :05:34.teacher and girl, over 16, were in the bar until the early hours,

:05:35. > :05:44.drinking alcohol. The girl, who cannot be named, was referred to as

:05:45. > :05:48.people A. The tribunal heard another teacher described how he was woken

:05:49. > :06:00.up when his colleague returned to their room at 6am and told him he

:06:01. > :06:05.had just had sex with people A. -- pupil A. He said his roommate was

:06:06. > :06:09.boastful and said the girl was a willing participant and they had

:06:10. > :06:18.gone to the basement to avoid CCTV. However the teacher told the panel

:06:19. > :06:20.it was banter, mail bravado. He denied having sex or even drinking

:07:26. > :07:28.Leader of the Welsh Conservatives Andrew RT Davies

:07:29. > :07:30.and Ukip's Caroline Jones also voted this morning.

:07:45. > :07:54.Throughout the day voters in Wales and the UK have been having their

:08:00. > :08:04.the results as they come in on television, radio, online and on

:08:05. > :08:09.your mobile. A panel of politicians and experts will be with me in the

:08:10. > :08:15.studio and we will have reporters at every count in the country as the

:08:16. > :08:20.picture of who will form the next Westminster government becomes

:08:21. > :08:23.clear. Join us for election 2017 Wales tonight from 9:55pm on BBC One

:08:24. > :08:39.Wales and BBC Radio Wales. A dairy will have to pay costs

:08:40. > :08:43.totalling ?44,000 after slurry leaked into a stream. It is one of

:08:44. > :08:47.the biggest dairy farms in Wales. The company that runs it said heavy

:08:48. > :08:56.rainfall has contributed to the problem. Mega dairies are a

:08:57. > :09:01.controversial development. Here, 1900 cows spent most of their lives

:09:02. > :09:08.indoors. Although welfare standards are high, dealing with the waste of

:09:09. > :09:12.the animals presents problems. Between December 2015 March 2016

:09:13. > :09:18.slurry flowed into a nearby stream. Readings taken after the incident

:09:19. > :09:23.showed a significant impact on water quality. One of the owners was in

:09:24. > :09:28.court as the company pleaded guilty to six breaches of environmental

:09:29. > :09:35.regulations. The judge said the incident had a serious impact on the

:09:36. > :09:45.watercourses around the farm. He ordered the farm to pay fines and

:09:46. > :09:48.costs totalling ?44,500. The firm's solicitor said unprecedented

:09:49. > :09:53.rainfall has contributed to the problem and it was a well-run farm.

:09:54. > :09:57.At that time it was the highest rainfall seed in the UK in over a

:09:58. > :10:01.century and that was reflected in the level of sentencing. It showed

:10:02. > :10:06.some degree of sympathy with the battle the farmer was having at that

:10:07. > :10:12.time, as many did, to deal with conditions of a level not seen in a

:10:13. > :10:16.generation. Natural Resources Wales said the increasing size of dairy

:10:17. > :10:24.herds is a concern but farmers must plan for the future. If they think

:10:25. > :10:27.about increasing the size of the heard, they have to look at what

:10:28. > :10:31.they have got. Often there is investment around farm buildings but

:10:32. > :10:34.at times it can mean the slurry handling facilities are the last

:10:35. > :10:40.thing to be considered. It is looking at those considering those.

:10:41. > :10:44.The farm will have nine months to pay the fines and costs but the

:10:45. > :10:50.question about the impact of huge dairy farms is sure to continue.

:10:51. > :10:55.They're in fine voice - but almost half of male voice choirs

:10:56. > :10:57.in Wales say they're worried about the future.

:10:58. > :11:00.And left a bit - a statue of Pembroke's most famous son

:11:06. > :11:11.Virtual reality - or VR - is traditionally used

:11:12. > :11:17.But with the cost of it coming down some of Wales' biggest companies

:11:18. > :11:20.are turning to the technology to see how it can benefit their business.

:11:21. > :11:22.Brian Meechan has been finding out more.

:11:23. > :11:26.It could be the future when it comes to buying a house.

:11:27. > :11:30.No more traipsing around properties, only to discover all

:11:31. > :11:33.the flaws that were missing from the estate agent's photos.

:11:34. > :11:35.So you're able to look up, down, left, right,

:11:36. > :11:41.This estate agent is one of the first in Wales to introduce

:11:42. > :11:48.It gives you a 360 degrees view of the actual house,

:11:49. > :11:52.which doesn't allow much to be hidden.

:11:53. > :11:55.It has seen increased offers from viewings and even people

:11:56. > :11:57.making offers from abroad, after taking a VR tour.

:11:58. > :11:59.The goggles are gimmicky, but what the goggles show

:12:00. > :12:03.and replicate and with the desktop and mobile stuff, it is fantastic

:12:04. > :12:10.and it is about giving the client more than a high street

:12:11. > :12:12.or online market, so we have to move because

:12:13. > :12:18.It is not just small businesses that are looking for a boost from VR.

:12:19. > :12:20.BT has introduced it as part of its recruitment process,

:12:21. > :12:22.including letting applicants see whether they are cut out

:12:23. > :12:24.for engineering work at the top of telegraph poles.

:12:25. > :12:27.It means there are no surprises further down the line,

:12:28. > :12:30.so we don't get people dropping out, people unhappy in their work

:12:31. > :12:33.and sticking with a job they are really not comfortable doing.

:12:34. > :12:36.Costs of VR are coming down. Ordinary mobile phones can now be

:12:37. > :12:40.attached inside headsets that are cheap to buy.

:12:41. > :12:43.BT plans to roll out the technology to help train its workers.

:12:44. > :12:51.It is very similar to the real thing.

:12:52. > :12:54.It gives you a good insight into what the job entails.

:12:55. > :12:56.Rather than just watching videos, you can see what your day-to-day

:12:57. > :12:59.Another big company is already adapting

:13:00. > :13:01.the technology to its needs, but on a different scale.

:13:02. > :13:03.Here at Welsh Water, they are taking virtual reality

:13:04. > :13:12.This site, which has been operating for 18 months,

:13:13. > :13:15.is called the Igloo and it allows a team of people to work together,

:13:16. > :13:17.including engineers and designers, working on actual buildings

:13:18. > :13:21.in what will be their actual locations.

:13:22. > :13:24.The Igloo has paid for itself on its first scheme.

:13:25. > :13:26.A ?32 million water treatment works in Conwy.

:13:27. > :13:30.It is now being used on 50 other projects.

:13:31. > :13:35.What it effectively allows is to take a two-dimensional plan,

:13:36. > :13:37.converted into a three dimensional virtual model,

:13:38. > :13:39.which enables our operators and engineers to walk

:13:40. > :13:43.They can refine its health and safety, its operability,

:13:44. > :13:47.but we can also rehearse our builds, so we can reduce our cost to build.

:13:48. > :13:49.We are seeing significant savings from using the technology.

:13:50. > :13:52.So it looks like VR could increasingly become a reality both

:13:53. > :14:06.People with Parkinson's Disease who've have taken part

:14:07. > :14:09.in an innovative speech therapy course in north east Wales

:14:10. > :14:11.say it's helped them to make themselves heard again.

:14:12. > :14:13.The technique, developed in the United States,

:14:14. > :14:15.focuses on increasing how loudly people talk, giving those whose

:14:16. > :14:18.voices have become soft or slurred, the confidence to talk.

:14:19. > :14:22.We get people with Parkinson's to pay conscious attention

:14:23. > :14:25.to certain aspects of their speech, then we can improve

:14:26. > :14:38.Research over the last 20 years or so has shown that if we focus

:14:39. > :14:39.on increasing volume, then people's speech

:14:40. > :14:44.Nearly half of Welsh male voice choirs say they're

:14:45. > :14:49.That's according to research carried out by BBC Wales.

:14:50. > :14:52.The survey of more than one hundred choirs, also suggests many have

:14:53. > :15:03.A male voice choir, but not as you know it.

:15:04. > :15:07.A total departure from what we normally do.

:15:08. > :15:09.Singing male voice choir along with a rock band.

:15:10. > :15:14.That's been on the Radio One playlist for several weeks.

:15:15. > :15:17.I think we have a duty to show what a male voice

:15:23. > :15:28.The choir starred in a documentary about Welsh male voice

:15:29. > :15:30.choirs a few years ago, which was made by a local film-maker

:15:31. > :15:33.and backed by the likes of Hollywood actor Michael Sheen and hundreds

:15:34. > :15:42.Publicity brought new members optimism, security.

:15:43. > :15:45.The custom-built choir hall is testament to the success

:15:46. > :15:56.Bill Nash has been coming here from Bristol twice

:15:57. > :16:19.Despite a determined recruitment drive.

:16:20. > :16:21.They have tried thousands of flyers, posters, and even moving

:16:22. > :16:28.You have taken the choir to the people?

:16:29. > :16:33.If the choir goes, it could have a big effect on the lives

:16:34. > :16:38.They just sit in the house, they watch television.

:16:39. > :16:41.So they get up every Monday and Thursday and come here.

:16:42. > :16:45.It is somewhere to go, something to do.

:16:46. > :16:48.We asked over 100 Welsh male voice choirs how they were doing.

:16:49. > :16:51.Nearly half said they were concerned about the future.

:16:52. > :16:56.A similar proportion said they had fewer members than a decade ago.

:16:57. > :17:01.In many ways it has been a barometer of Wales' economic health

:17:02. > :17:06.The repertoire has changed, the composition of the choirs has

:17:07. > :17:12.Much like the communities they live in, which have had to change

:17:13. > :17:18.I think it is a good sign that choirs are not complacent,

:17:19. > :17:26.to be concerned I think is a healthy trend.

:17:27. > :17:28.And in this village in Gwynnedd, one of the newest Male

:17:29. > :17:40.Just a few months old, no one here is over the age of 30.

:17:41. > :17:41.We started mainly with young families' competition.

:17:42. > :17:44.A few of the lads enjoyed it and carried on.

:17:45. > :17:47.There are mixed fortunes across the country, but also

:17:48. > :18:00.a determination to change and to survive.

:18:01. > :18:03.Time for tonight's sport, Claire is here with all the latest.

:18:04. > :18:07.Wales are making final preparations before they fly

:18:08. > :18:10.out to Serbia for their World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

:18:11. > :18:14.It's a huge game - star player Gareth Bale may be

:18:15. > :18:17.missing, but his team-mates say they can cope without him,

:18:18. > :18:21.as they aim to go all out against the group leaders.

:18:22. > :18:25.They have come a long way since their last visit to Serbia.

:18:26. > :18:27.It resulted in a humiliating 6-1 defeat and ended hopes

:18:28. > :18:34.But five years on, Wales are a different outfit,

:18:35. > :18:37.even without star man Gareth Bale, who has been suspended,

:18:38. > :18:39.the players say they believe they are capable of winning

:18:40. > :18:45.He is key to us, he is a world-class player, but, one of the main

:18:46. > :18:53.qualities of this group is that we are all about teamwork,

:18:54. > :18:56.we are all about resilience and we see it as a chance to sort

:18:57. > :19:05.We are confident we will still have enough in the squad to go out

:19:06. > :19:09.Also missing for the trip to Belgrade will be Liverpool's

:19:10. > :19:13.He has pulled out today because of a calf injury.

:19:19. > :19:26.Wales are in third after a series of draws.

:19:27. > :19:28.Four points behind, with five qualifying games remaining.

:19:29. > :19:34.I think we've been unfortunate and obviously some people may say

:19:35. > :19:36.maybe the lads have taken the foot off the gas, or whatever,

:19:37. > :19:39.but I can say that is definitely not the case.

:19:40. > :19:41.The boys have still got the same togetherness, same team spirit,

:19:42. > :19:44.same quality on the pitch, but sometimes this is football

:19:45. > :19:48.and we've just got to keep working to get where we know we can be.

:19:49. > :19:50.As for the manager himself, he has a contract with Wales

:19:51. > :19:53.until after the World Cup, but he has hinted he could

:19:54. > :19:55.walk away if Wales lose ground in qualification.

:19:56. > :19:57.He is returning this weekend to a country

:19:58. > :20:00.where he suffered the lowest point of his managerial career.

:20:01. > :20:02.He now says that defeat was the catalyst for their success.

:20:03. > :20:10.This weekend, we can see just how far they've come.

:20:11. > :20:15.A good result for Wales women, beating Portugal 2-1 in a friendly.

:20:16. > :20:16.Rugby. Alun Wyn Jones will captain

:20:17. > :20:19.the British and Irish Lions against the Crusaders

:20:36. > :20:38.for us, they are the form team in Super Rugby at the moment,

:20:39. > :20:41.but we need to make sure Obviously came into camp

:20:42. > :20:46.late and just excited to get out there now and,

:20:47. > :20:49.you know, get on the field and hopefully we can put a good
