:01:19. > :01:26.for their heads, it can have devastating consequences.
:01:27. > :01:27.That's what happened to 19-year-old Georgia Fairthorne.
:01:28. > :01:29.She fell off her skateboard in Pembrokeshire while playing
:01:30. > :01:31.with her brother and sister ten days ago.
:01:32. > :01:33.She's now recovering in hospital in Cardiff,
:01:34. > :01:35.but for a while she was in an induced coma.
:01:36. > :01:38.As a result, her mother, Emma, has launched a social media campaign
:01:39. > :01:48.Take care of your kids and get them a helmet while they're
:01:49. > :01:50.on their skates and skateboards, because it only took
:01:51. > :01:59.The Headway charity here at this hospital in Cardiff helps people
:02:00. > :02:01.who had brain injuries, some from accidents.
:02:02. > :02:04.They believe a sizable proportion of those injuries could have been
:02:05. > :02:07.Every three minutes, a person is admitted to hospital
:02:08. > :02:12.A head injury can affect people in terms of their behaviour,
:02:13. > :02:14.in terms of their emotional well-being.
:02:15. > :02:16.And also, obviously physically people can be affected and left
:02:17. > :02:19.And that is just what happened to Jeff.
:02:20. > :02:22.He's now 41, but as a teenager he came off his skateboard
:02:23. > :02:43.He was in a coma for six weeks, and has suffered brain injuries which
:02:44. > :02:52.still affect him 24 years on. You were a keen advocate of helmets,
:02:53. > :03:16.then? I am, yes. When children are young...
:03:17. > :03:23.But the message is not getting through. None of these teenagers at
:03:24. > :03:29.this skate park are wearing helmets and they say that they rarely do.
:03:30. > :03:34.The better you get, the more you learn to fall safely. I have nothing
:03:35. > :03:39.against helmets, I think they are helpful, but nothing has happened
:03:40. > :03:45.around my head area ever. But the consequences can be life-changing,
:03:46. > :03:48.as Jeff knows. With injuries -- head injuries on the increase, their
:03:49. > :03:49.families are determined to keep the pressure.
:03:50. > :03:51.A teenager is in hospital with spinal injuries
:03:52. > :03:54.after the branch of a tree fell on her at a National Trust
:03:55. > :03:57.18-year-old Amy Brooke was struck by the branch
:03:58. > :04:01.Her family have been waiting to hear whether or not she'll
:04:02. > :04:04.From the investigations that have been carried out so far,

:04:10. > :04:11.a phenomenon known as summer drop, where a healthy tree
