:00:00. > :00:09.UK Independence Party's leader in Wales, Nathan Gill,

:00:10. > :00:12.says he is leaving the party's group in the Senedd and will instead,

:00:13. > :00:25.And Hannah Mills will have to wait another day to get her gold medal

:00:26. > :00:32.after the final event was postponed. UK Independence Party's leader

:00:33. > :00:37.in Wales, Nathan Gill, says he is leaving the party's group

:00:38. > :00:40.in the Senedd and will instead, But he won't leave the party

:00:41. > :00:47.and will stay as a UKIP Member It follows weeks of infighting

:00:48. > :00:51.over his position in the party. I, Nathan Gill, do swear

:00:52. > :00:55.that I will be faithful Just over three months

:00:56. > :01:01.since the election and the Ukip assembly group is down

:01:02. > :01:04.from seven to six. Nathan Gill was the face

:01:05. > :01:07.of the party's election campaign, but he was then beaten

:01:08. > :01:09.by Neil Hamilton in a vote

:01:10. > :01:15.to become group leader. The relationship has been

:01:16. > :01:17.strained ever since, with Gill's supporters

:01:18. > :01:19.criticising Hamilton and Hamilton and his supporters

:01:20. > :01:27.attacking Gill for double-jobbing, Today Nathan Gill decided

:01:28. > :01:32.enough is enough. He said the infighting had

:01:33. > :01:34.become a distraction. Since Hamilton has been

:01:35. > :01:39.elected group leader, there's been calls for Nathan Gill

:01:40. > :01:42.to step down from one of the roles, although structurally Nathan really

:01:43. > :01:45.cannot do that, he cannot be replaced as an MEP,

:01:46. > :01:56.so he cannot step down from that position,

:01:57. > :01:58.and as the face of the campaign and leader in Wales,

:01:59. > :02:01.it seems a bit of a slight to turn round and think, therefore you must

:02:02. > :02:04.give up your job in the assembly. And I think that as a result

:02:05. > :02:07.Nathan Gill is feeling rather harried out of position

:02:08. > :02:10.through no fault of his own. Hamilton's immediate

:02:11. > :02:14.response to the news - to say the group won't

:02:15. > :02:16.notice much difference. I would rather be a group

:02:17. > :02:33.of seven and a group of six, --

:02:34. > :02:35.than a group of seven, but given that he is a part-time AM

:02:36. > :02:38.and we don't really see much of him, in practical terms it is not

:02:39. > :02:41.going to make a great He should now do the honourable

:02:42. > :02:45.thing and resign his seat as an AM, The factionalism represents a wider

:02:46. > :02:50.split in the party across the UK. Put simplistically, a split

:02:51. > :02:52.between those like Nathan Gill, loyal to outgoing leader

:02:53. > :02:54.Nigel Farage, and those I think it's a symptom

:02:55. > :02:58.of the wider turmoil. The party, not just in Wales,

:02:59. > :03:02.but across the UK, are in turmoil and it is a symptom

:03:03. > :03:04.of their infighting as well. I think we might even see more

:03:05. > :03:07.of this, more disruption within the party in the next coming

:03:08. > :03:09.months and years. Candidates in the running to replace

:03:10. > :03:12.Nigel Farage as Ukip leader They were overshadowed

:03:13. > :03:16.by Nathan Gill's decision. One of the candidates, Lisa Duffy,

:03:17. > :03:18.called for Nathan Gill to now To some extent, today sums up

:03:19. > :03:24.the difficulties Ukip faces. On the one hand, the ongoing problem

:03:25. > :03:34.of infighting and personal disputes, and on the other, the bigger

:03:35. > :03:36.picture, the challenge for these candidates

:03:37. > :03:39.to try to set out a vision for the party post-Brexit

:03:40. > :03:40.and post-Nigel Farage. To Rio, and Wales' Hannah Mills

:03:41. > :03:43.will have to wait until tomorrow to be awarded gold in the sailing -

:03:44. > :03:47.a medal that will make it a record The final event was postponed

:03:48. > :03:52.due to a lack of wind. Instead, Hannah and her partner

:03:53. > :03:54.Saskia Clark will race tomorrow. They currently have a 20-point lead

:03:55. > :03:57.going into the final, and simply need to

:03:58. > :03:58.finish to win gold. If the weather stops them

:03:59. > :04:01.from racing again, they'll still be awarded the gold medal based

:04:02. > :04:03.on the preliminary races. We've had a marathon-long week

:04:04. > :04:08.so far, conditions have been wacky and tricky and up and down,

:04:09. > :04:11.so to have no wind The number of people out of work

:04:12. > :04:18.in Wales has fallen again and is now The latest Office for

:04:19. > :04:22.National Statistics figures shows Wales had an unemployment rate

:04:23. > :04:25.of 4.3% between April and June, Frog Bikes is owned by a couple

:04:26. > :04:31.from Surrey who chose to move their manufacturing

:04:32. > :04:40.from China to Wales. And we have got a big boot and

:04:41. > :04:47.nurses within South Wales that are pretty much untapped because of a

:04:48. > :04:50.lot of the redundancies that we have undergone over the past few years.

:04:51. > :04:52.Cash donations from the public collected by Machynlleth Town

:04:53. > :04:54.Council after the murder of five-year-old April Jones

:04:55. > :04:57.shouldn't have been accepted, according to an audit report.

:04:58. > :04:59.The council banked more than ?71,000 of public money before transferring

:05:00. > :05:01.it to April's Fund - something it didn't

:05:02. > :05:12.There's a risk that higher education in Wales will become second-rate

:05:13. > :05:15.if tuition fees here aren't increased in line with England -

:05:16. > :05:17.that's the warning tonight from Swansea University's Vice

:05:18. > :05:21.Chancellor, Professor Richard Davies.

:05:22. > :05:23.Fees at universities over the border will go up next year,

:05:24. > :05:27.but before any changes are made here, the Welsh Government

:05:28. > :05:29.want to see the findings of a review into funding

:05:30. > :05:36.Wales' only FTSE 100 company, Admiral, has reported a 4%

:05:37. > :05:38.rise in pre-tax profit, to more than ?193 million -

:05:39. > :05:46.It says prices have risen for UK car insurance

:05:47. > :05:48.and that the market is less volatile.

:05:49. > :05:51.Football, and in the Championship, Cardiff City beat Blackburn Rovers

:05:52. > :05:53.thanks to two own goals from the same Blackburn player.

:05:54. > :05:55.Shane Duffy gifted Cardiff an early 2-0 lead,

:05:56. > :06:14.Time to take a look at the weather now.

:06:15. > :06:17.It has been a lovely few days, with the weather turning more

:06:18. > :06:21.We do have wind and rain on Friday and very changeable

:06:22. > :06:25.We do have some rain over South Wales, further north

:06:26. > :06:27.is dry with clear skies, those temperatures not

:06:28. > :06:33.Low pressure controlling our weather tomorrow, this system bringing quite

:06:34. > :06:36.a bit of cloud with it and a little rain as well.

:06:37. > :06:40.First thing tomorrow morning, a little rain just across mid Wales,

:06:41. > :06:41.to the south dry, further north, dry,

:06:42. > :06:46.We will start to see drier conditions as we head

:06:47. > :06:52.For the rest of the British Isles, a lot of dry weather to look forward

:06:53. > :06:54.to, a little bit of rain for Northern Ireland and Wales,

:06:55. > :06:57.otherwise it's dry with sunny spells, highs of around 23 Celsius.

:06:58. > :06:59.Here in Wales tomorrow afternoon, best of the sunshine

:07:00. > :07:02.along the north coast, the north-east, parts of Powys,

:07:03. > :07:05.otherwise it is hazy sunshine with highs of around 22

:07:06. > :07:10.The winds are light, and there is the risk of a few showers.

:07:11. > :07:14.A fairly quiet night at first, but then overnight we'll start

:07:15. > :07:16.to see thicker cloud, patchy rain, spreading in from the south-west.

:07:17. > :07:20.A mild night, those temperatures no lower than around 15 Celsius.

:07:21. > :07:22.Friday, we do have wind and rain spreading in from the south.

:07:23. > :07:29.Might see some dry intervals later on in the day, temperatures cooler,

:07:30. > :07:35.Saturday - blustery, heavy showers, could be thundery

:07:36. > :07:38.at times, strong winds, not a nice day to be out and about.

:07:39. > :07:44.The chance of something drier and brighter as we head to Sunday.

:07:45. > :07:48.We'll be back from around 6:30am in Breakfast tomorrow morning.

:07:49. > :07:54.From all of us here on the late team, goodnight.
