:04:51. > :04:56.Today, the patient is a 30-stone dummy.

:04:57. > :04:59.This a new type of training course for a problem emergency services

:05:00. > :05:12.In a medical emergency there is no time to lose,

:05:13. > :05:23.There is no rescue where we can go in and do this

:05:24. > :05:26.very quickly, when we rescue these patients, it has to be preplanned

:05:27. > :05:33.It makes it safer and minimises the impact on the patient as well,

:05:34. > :05:40.so it may be simple things, like we have to walk the route

:05:41. > :05:43.all the way that the patient is going to travel with a tape

:05:44. > :05:46.measure, because we need to know whether we need to take doors off,

:05:49. > :05:51.I've probably been involved in up to 20 of these incidents

:05:52. > :05:55.They are not a daily event for us with this complexity,

:05:56. > :05:57.but we do transport patients who would be categorised

:05:58. > :06:00.as obese on a daily basis, and that is reflected in the change

:06:01. > :06:07.Since 2013, we have introduced a new stretcher which is an extra

:06:08. > :06:11.100 kilograms capacity, it is wider, and it is electrically

:06:17. > :06:19.The figures don't reveal why South Wales Fire Service were called

:06:20. > :06:25.They think the good relationship between ambulance and Fire Service

:06:26. > :06:28.makes such operations more likely here.

:06:29. > :06:33.Others claim that in some areas such incidents are going unreported.

:06:34. > :06:36.But it is also recognised that around one in four of us in Wales

:06:37. > :06:48.So obesity experts say these results are not surprising.

:06:49. > :06:50.It is getting worse and worse, as more and more fat

:06:51. > :06:54.It is all over the country, so South Wales, if you will,

:06:55. > :06:59.should not be terribly upset that they are unique.

:07:00. > :07:02.They are not unique at all, particularly in the north-west

:07:03. > :07:07.Some of the figures there, which in my belief have not

:07:08. > :07:08.been reported properly, will show the same

:07:09. > :07:15.This type of operation is the extreme end of what these

:07:16. > :07:18.specialist teams are required to do, but increasingly they say

:07:19. > :07:22.they are being called to people who get stuck not just in buildings

:07:23. > :07:26.but in cars and trains here in Wales.

:07:27. > :07:29.We'll get you out, get you in the ambulance, and get

:07:30. > :07:35.A PE teacher at Willows High School in Cardiff, has been cleared

:07:42. > :07:47.It took the jury four and a half hours to find him not guilty of rape

:07:48. > :07:51.after a week-long trial at Cardiff Crown Court.

:07:52. > :07:54.A ballot closed today on potential strike action at Welsh universities,

:07:55. > :07:59.Unison has accused higher education institutions of relying

:08:00. > :08:02.on temporary agency workers, and rewarding only

:08:03. > :08:07.In response, universities say the use of agency staff

:08:08. > :08:11.is widespread, and competitive salaries are needed to attract

:08:12. > :08:18.It's the busiest road through West Wales -

:08:19. > :08:21.used by tens of thousands of motorists every day -

:08:22. > :08:24.and roadworks starting tomorrow on the A48 near Carmarthen

:08:25. > :08:28.could mean severe disruption for the next six weeks.

:08:29. > :08:32.The eastbound carriageway between Pensarn and Nantycaws will

:08:33. > :08:38.High volumes of diverted traffic could cause long delays and disrupt

:08:39. > :08:47.Underneath this section of the A48 which heads eastwards

:08:48. > :08:51.from Carmarthen is a high-pressure pipeline carrying mainly diesel

:08:52. > :08:54.and aviation fuel from Pembroke refinery to terminals

:08:55. > :09:01.Tomorrow, work gets underway to repair a defect in the pipe.

:09:02. > :09:04.It will mean a 3.5 mile stretch of the eastbound carriageway will be

:09:05. > :09:10.Diversions will be in place, and one of the main alternative

:09:11. > :09:15.routes will be eventually bringing motorists back onto the A48

:09:16. > :09:22.This is the main road which links West and East Wales,

:09:23. > :09:26.it is also the main road which links the West with the rest of Europe.

:09:27. > :09:30.Every single day, heavy goods vehicles travel along the A48,

:09:31. > :09:33.but tomorrow when it closes and traffic is diverted to the

:09:34. > :09:36.side roads, it is believed it could significantly

:09:37. > :09:44.We are the sort of largest roadway that spans through.

:09:45. > :09:47.We understand we get a lot of Irish ferry traffic,

:09:48. > :09:49.and also from the whole of West Wales anyway.

:09:50. > :09:52.There is a lot of commerce that happens, and with anything

:09:53. > :09:55.that lasts up to six weeks you want to make sure

:09:56. > :09:59.One local councillor says there are concerns in his ward

:10:00. > :10:01.about how the diverted traffic along this road will affect

:10:02. > :10:08.The last time it was used as a diversion it had three lanes,

:10:09. > :10:11.but since then it has been reduced to just two.

:10:12. > :10:13.It is believed this could compound traffic problems

:10:14. > :10:19.I think we will face total chaos, especially after 3pm

:10:20. > :10:25.We are turning back into a village with only one lane up the hill.

:10:26. > :10:29.And we're introducing a 30mph speed limit, there are concerns

:10:30. > :10:33.I don't think there will be room for any speeding tomorrow.

:10:34. > :10:39.Today, temporary traffic lights were put out along the road

:10:40. > :10:43.to help people cross it, particularly schoolchildren.

:10:44. > :10:46.This bike shop and cafe is situated on what will be one

:10:47. > :10:52.It is anticipating the road closure to affect business to some extent.

:10:53. > :10:55.We get a few people dropping in to get their coffee,

:10:56. > :11:03.and we also have quite a few people coming in for their morning meeting,

:11:04. > :11:09.so potentially the congestion could put them off.

:11:10. > :11:13.Mainline Pipeline Ltd says repairs are essential, but it will endeavour

:11:14. > :11:17.to reduce the six-week closure as much as possible.

:11:18. > :11:19.The advice for motorists is to leave plenty of time

:11:53. > :11:58.and autumnal with some rain. Largely dry, fairly quiet, Mr patch is

:11:59. > :12:03.developing. Where we have clear spells, temperatures will drop into

:12:04. > :12:10.single figures across rural mid Wales, 7-13dC. The rain moves

:12:11. > :12:15.eastwards with high building from the South West. A few early mist

:12:16. > :12:19.patches and a few chilly start, some sunny spells around, and across the

:12:20. > :12:25.UK in the south and east, where that weather front lingers, cloudy with

:12:26. > :12:29.patchy rain. Elsewhere, largely fine with dry in sunny spells, variable

:12:30. > :12:33.cloud, the odd shower pushing into Northern Ireland and western

:12:50. > :12:56.Variable cloud, mist and fog patches, lows of 8-13dC in towns and

:12:57. > :13:00.cities, cooler in the countryside overnight. Some changes as we head

:13:01. > :13:04.into Wednesday. It starts dry but low pressure in the Atlantic edges

:13:05. > :13:09.closer, this cold front pushing in later in the day. Wednesday should

:13:10. > :13:13.start fine and dry with bright spells, a few showers developing,

:13:14. > :13:15.winds pick up, and turning increasingly cloudy from the West is
