:00:23. > :00:43.There are claims it'll bring thousands of jobs

:00:44. > :00:44.and millions of pounds to the Welsh economy.

:00:45. > :00:47.Many businesses and politicians here say a third runway

:00:48. > :00:52.But tonight the Welsh government stands accused of supporting

:00:53. > :00:55.the project without getting anything back in return,

:00:56. > :00:57.unlike ministers in Scotland, who have secured guaranteed building

:00:58. > :01:08.Here's our Business Correspondent Brian Meechan.

:01:09. > :01:11.It is still one of the busiest airports in the world but it has

:01:12. > :01:14.been slipping behind the competition, as they've expanded

:01:15. > :01:18.while Heathrow is operating at its limits.

:01:19. > :01:22.But it is about to get a lot bigger, bringing more people to the

:01:23. > :01:28.It helps to make sure that businesses from Wales can easily get

:01:29. > :01:34.We are looking forward to having the Western rail

:01:35. > :01:37.link, that will mean a rail link directly from Wales into Heathrow,

:01:38. > :01:39.making it much more convenient and much easier for students,

:01:40. > :01:41.overseas investors, tourists, to get to Wales

:01:42. > :01:43.According to the Independent airports commission,

:01:44. > :01:46.Wales will benefit from the expansion of that London hub.

:01:47. > :01:50.It estimated that 8400 jobs would be created but that's over the next 35

:01:51. > :02:01.It could also mean ?6.2 billion in benefits to the economy.

:02:02. > :02:03.But it can only fully bring international opportunities closer

:02:04. > :02:06.to Wales if they can get to Heathrow easily.

:02:07. > :02:09.We have important improvements around rail, I think we

:02:10. > :02:11.are desperately crying out for the M4 black route

:02:12. > :02:14.but all of that fits together in order to make Wales a

:02:15. > :02:21.Cardiff Airport has seen a significant increase in

:02:22. > :02:23.passenger numbers in the last 12 months.

:02:24. > :02:27.Madrid announced today shows it continues to attract allies and

:02:28. > :02:34.Cardiff airport has a target of increasing to 2 million

:02:35. > :02:40.And to 3 million in the next ten years.

:02:41. > :02:44.the expansion of Heathrow can help them deliver that grow.

:02:45. > :02:46.I asked the chairman of Cardiff Airport if he

:02:47. > :02:52.was worried about losing business to Heathrow.

:02:53. > :02:55.We will never ever compete with Heathrow but we can offer the

:02:56. > :02:58.people and passengers of Wales and enhanced service to fly

:02:59. > :02:59.potentially from Heathrow via Cardiff to

:03:00. > :03:16.In return for supporting the new runway

:03:17. > :03:19.in Heathrow, ministers in Edinburgh secured a guarantee that Scottish

:03:20. > :03:20.companies will get ?200 million worth

:03:21. > :03:31.of building contracts from the project.

:03:32. > :03:33.There are questions tonight about the Welsh Government's

:03:34. > :03:36.Wales is going to gain the consequential as

:03:37. > :03:47.We should have been asking for solid commitment and massive gains like

:03:48. > :03:48.the Scottish Government has already done.

:03:49. > :03:50.Welsh ministers say they are

:03:51. > :03:52.in ongoing talks with the airport and are discussing the possibility

:03:53. > :03:54.of securing manufacturing contracts for Welsh companies.

:03:55. > :03:56.There will be plenty of scrutiny from Wales and

:03:57. > :03:59.any economic benefits are by no means a done deal.

:04:00. > :04:01.The National Farmers Union Cymru says the price of milk is up,

:04:02. > :04:04.but profits are not being passed on to dairy farmers,

:04:05. > :04:15.The union called for change at the Welsh Dairy Show in Carmarthen.

:04:16. > :04:18.A message on a wreath placed by Prince Charles on the 50th

:04:19. > :04:20.anniversary of the Aberfan disaster has been taken.

:04:21. > :04:26.the village last week, where some of the 144 victims

:04:27. > :04:28.of the tragedy are buried, but by Sunday his message had gone.

:04:29. > :04:37.South Wales Police say they're investigating the incident.

:04:38. > :04:39.There's concern tonight that transgender people are waiting up

:04:40. > :04:45.A trans person doesn't identify with the gender

:04:46. > :04:48.they were born with - and many are referred to a gender

:04:49. > :04:52.The number of young people being referred to specialist

:04:53. > :04:54.clinics have more than doubled in the last year.

:04:55. > :05:05.Finding her feet as the person she wants to be.

:05:06. > :05:11.17, from Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan.

:05:12. > :05:16.She's studying circus skills at this college in Bristol and she's happy,

:05:17. > :05:23.I couldn't go out and make friends because they'd be trying to have

:05:24. > :05:28.Looking back at it now, I can see that other problems

:05:29. > :05:34.I was having like depression, anxiety, even just schoolwork,

:05:35. > :05:37.was actually stemming from me not being able to sort of express

:05:38. > :05:48.It's been two years since she first approached her GP to be referred

:05:49. > :05:51.There are none in Wales, so Welsh patients are referred

:05:52. > :05:58.Yes, in nine months, we are going to be seen

:05:59. > :06:02.And we are two years on and we still haven't been seen

:06:03. > :06:13.And I can't tell you how heartbreaking it is, actually.

:06:14. > :06:14.Abergavenny GP Helen Webberley offers private healthcare

:06:15. > :06:18.She says it's crucial to get the right treatment

:06:19. > :06:24.A huge number of children who I see have been to their GP several times,

:06:25. > :06:27.expressing gender variance but also expressing anxiety, depression

:06:28. > :06:30.and are put on antidepressants, so we've got young people being put

:06:31. > :06:32.on drugs for depression when actually the root

:06:33. > :06:43.cause of the depression isn't being addressed.

:06:44. > :06:46.The number of young people being referred to gender identity

:06:47. > :06:49.clinics from Wales has risen from 17 to 40 in the last year

:06:50. > :06:51.and the numbers are increasing year on year.

:06:52. > :06:53.Treatments, naturally, will vary for each individual,

:06:54. > :06:55.and in Wales a mental health assessment is done before

:06:56. > :07:02.Last week, the Welsh Government allocated ?1 million to be

:07:03. > :07:04.spent on gender identity and eating disorder clinics.

:07:05. > :07:15.The leader of Anglesey Council is calling on the developers

:07:16. > :07:17.of a proposed new nuclear power station on the island to guarantee

:07:18. > :07:23.Horizon says a consultation on Wylfa Newydd -

:07:24. > :07:26.which ends at midnight - will be the last one before it

:07:27. > :07:34.Anglesey Council says its backing of the project has certain

:07:35. > :07:42.They have got an assessment that only 45% of the operational

:07:43. > :07:45.Obviously, I am pushing for that to be nearer 100%.

:07:46. > :07:47.It's very important that the operational workforce comes
