:03:44. > :03:45.But Tata's board rejected the survival plan, and put
:03:46. > :03:52.That was like sending a tsunami through the plant.
:03:53. > :03:55.The one thing we'd been told up until that point was, it was either
:03:56. > :03:58.we were going to survive or we would end up closing.
:03:59. > :04:01.Nobody expected to be put up for sale.
:04:02. > :04:04.The UK Government agreed to taking a stake of up to 25%,
:04:05. > :04:08.with any interested buyer and the Prime Minister
:04:09. > :04:14.Seven potential buyers came forward, including Liberty Steel
:04:15. > :04:16.and the management buy-out, Team Excalibur.
:04:17. > :04:19.Things started to turn around as steel prices rose and the EU put
:04:20. > :04:27.The company and unions set out its new plan this month -
:04:28. > :04:30.?1 billion investment in Port Talbot over ten years,
:04:31. > :04:34.if savings can be made in the business and a commitment
:04:35. > :04:40.to keep the two blast furnaces for five years but workers must
:04:41. > :04:43.vote to move from the final salary scheme to a much less
:04:44. > :04:47.It sounds very positive and then you read into it a little bit more.
:04:48. > :04:49.And you start worrying a little bit more.
:04:50. > :04:54.People's opinions seem to change on a day-to-day basis,
:04:55. > :04:59.so I don't feel any more secure now than I did back in January.
:05:00. > :05:03.This has been a year of twists and turns for Tata's workers,
:05:04. > :05:08.their families and the communities that surround the sites.
:05:09. > :05:16.And it may very well continue new into the New Year.
