:00:00. > :00:11.Tonight's headlines: Claims Welsh patients' lives will be at risk

:00:12. > :00:13.if an A department in England is moved further away

:00:14. > :00:17.And a man is in a serious condition after slitting

:00:18. > :00:36.his throat in the dock at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court.

:00:37. > :00:40.Welsh lives could be put at risk if an Accident and Emergency

:00:41. > :00:42.department is relocated from Shrewsbury in Shropshire

:00:43. > :00:44.to Telford, which is further away from the Welsh border.

:00:45. > :00:46.That's according to the MP for Montgomeryshire, Glyn Davies.

:00:47. > :00:49.He's taken part in a debate in Westminster tonight

:00:50. > :01:04.It's a short walk for Joy Jones from Newtown to her local cafe but

:01:05. > :01:09.getting to her nearest accident and emergency department is not easy.

:01:10. > :01:13.She knows the journey to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital too well. Person

:01:14. > :01:18.has epilepsy. Even though it's a 45 minutes away there is no nearer

:01:19. > :01:23.department for her in Wales so like many others in this area she has to

:01:24. > :01:27.travel over the border. During Joshua's childhood she made many a

:01:28. > :01:31.junior in a Amblin 's. It is terrifying because you are very

:01:32. > :01:37.frightened for his life and what's going to happen. You start counting

:01:38. > :01:44.down the miles and trying to work out where you were on the road. It's

:01:45. > :01:47.very frightening in the night and it feels even more frightening. Joy

:01:48. > :01:52.believed in the event of an actual emergency time as a critical factor

:01:53. > :01:57.and people could end up dying on the road trying to reach the AMD

:01:58. > :02:00.department in Telford. I headed out to see how long the journey would

:02:01. > :02:05.take. I have just driven past Welshpool and 17 miles from screws

:02:06. > :02:10.buddy. It's all single track road so it's slow journey. If the AMD

:02:11. > :02:18.department was moved to Telford my sat nav tells me I would have 34

:02:19. > :02:22.mile journey. So it will effectively double the distance. The two main

:02:23. > :02:27.hospitals in Shropshire service only around 400,000 people and they have

:02:28. > :02:31.been problems recruiting consultants so and plans it has to be

:02:32. > :02:34.reorganised. The trust says when emergency department would put

:02:35. > :02:40.specialist consultants in one place improving patient care. But a

:02:41. > :02:44.recommendation to downgrade services in Telford in favour of one

:02:45. > :02:48.emergency department basis Roseberry was rejected by the commissioning

:02:49. > :02:51.group for the area last month. This evening debate was held in the House

:02:52. > :02:57.of Commons on services in Shropshire and mid Wales. The MPs gone Richard

:02:58. > :03:02.described his constituents as being flabbergasted by the latest

:03:03. > :03:05.decision. All I want is up for them in give us an idea how we can move

:03:06. > :03:13.forward from what is a shambles which is putting the interests of my

:03:14. > :03:15.constituents, to put their care at the centre of the plans we have in

:03:16. > :03:19.structure. Tonight the minister announced that the joint

:03:20. > :03:22.commissioning group will meet next week to start the review of the

:03:23. > :03:27.options which could last up to three months. He also stated a new

:03:28. > :03:32.independent chair would be appointed with the casting vote to help decide

:03:33. > :03:34.on a favoured location. It will then go to public consultation.

:03:35. > :03:37.A man is in a serious condition at Morriston Hospital

:03:38. > :03:39.after cutting his own throat in the dock at Haverfordwest

:03:40. > :03:42.Lukasz Robert Pawlowskiwas waiting to be sentenced

:03:43. > :03:54.33-year-old Lukasz Robert Pawlowski had admitted grabbing and strength

:03:55. > :04:01.to kiss a shop assistant back in October. Sitting in the dock he was

:04:02. > :04:04.read his impact statement. She said the incident had left her feeling

:04:05. > :04:10.dirty unboned balloon work and that she's no longer to work at night.

:04:11. > :04:13.Witnesses said he went to the bathroom and not long after

:04:14. > :04:20.returning began making several frantic jabs at his throat.

:04:21. > :04:26.Paramedics and the court. He lost consciousness and a lot of lead and

:04:27. > :04:31.was flown to Morriston Hospital. It's not clear what he used to how

:04:32. > :04:34.he gained access to the weapon. Haverfordwest Magistrates' Court has

:04:35. > :04:38.been closed all day and questions are being asked about security. The

:04:39. > :04:43.whole community in Pembrokeshire and the staff working via found the

:04:44. > :04:47.whole incident shocking and disturbing. Serious questions now

:04:48. > :04:54.need to be asked of how is it that in a Magistrates' Court room a

:04:55. > :04:57.defendant was there to plead guilty was able to commit a serious act of

:04:58. > :05:07.violence against himself and potentially against other people.

:05:08. > :05:11.This court does have a pull style metal detectors and security guards

:05:12. > :05:14.at both entrances who check peoples bags" as they head into the

:05:15. > :05:21.building. A spokesman for the Court service said nobody else was injured

:05:22. > :05:24.in the incident but added it would be inappropriate to comment further

:05:25. > :05:29.because of the ongoing police investigation.

:05:30. > :05:33.30-year-old Dean Joseph Cody from Old Colwyn has tonight been

:05:34. > :05:34.charged with the murder of 35-year-old David

:05:35. > :05:53.Police have cordoned off a street in pod that hour after World War I bomb

:05:54. > :05:56.was brought into the local pub. The device has been isolated on Herbert

:05:57. > :06:00.Street and a number of houses have been evacuated. Experts are working

:06:01. > :06:03.to make sure the area is safe. The organisation behind

:06:04. > :06:05.the Wales Book of the Year ceremony says its ordered an independent

:06:06. > :06:07.review into the award. Literature Wales told Newyddion Naw

:06:08. > :06:10.a consultant will look at developing a new business model,

:06:11. > :06:12.identifying new funding as well as adding categories

:06:13. > :06:18.and new promotional activities. Rugby and Sam Warburton is set

:06:19. > :06:20.to step down as Wales captain after six years

:06:21. > :06:23.and 49 games in the role. His replacement will be named next

:06:24. > :06:26.week when interim coach Rob Howley Ospreys lock Alun Wyn Jones,

:06:27. > :06:32.who has 105 caps for Wales, is the favourite to take

:06:33. > :06:45.up the position. Alun Wyn Jones is a superb choice

:06:46. > :06:51.because of his consistency of performance. He is always up for the

:06:52. > :06:55.game. His performance level never drops and you would hope the

:06:56. > :07:00.captaincy would not affect him. He is a senior International and the

:07:01. > :07:03.burden of captaincy should not affect his performance. He is an

:07:04. > :07:05.obvious candidate. Football and the former

:07:06. > :07:06.French international Claude Makelele has joined

:07:07. > :07:08.Swansea City's coaching staff. The 43-year-old worked with head

:07:09. > :07:11.coach Paul Clement at Chelsea Meanwhile, defender Neil Taylor

:07:12. > :07:13.fractured his cheekbone in training and is expected

:07:14. > :07:15.to have an operation. Wales manager Chris Coleman,

:07:16. > :07:23.who today received an honorary degree from Swansea University,

:07:24. > :07:25.says reports suggesting Gareth Bale is ahead of schedule in his recovery

:07:26. > :07:31.from an ankle injury are accurate. Wales face the Republic of Ireland

:07:32. > :07:35.in a crucial World Cup qualifier Time for the weather, and we've

:07:36. > :07:51.avoided any snow so far Derek, I think there will be snow in some

:07:52. > :07:56.parts of the country tomorrow. The real wintry mix with snow for some

:08:02. > :08:08.forecast as well. A few showers around tonight. Some rain reaching

:08:24. > :08:29.some dry weather but showers as well. Snow warnings in force across

:08:30. > :08:34.many parts of the UK tomorrow including Scotland, Northern

:08:35. > :08:39.Ireland, parts of Wales and southern England. Windy in the north tomorrow

:08:40. > :08:46.with lots of snow showers for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Snow

:08:47. > :08:55.on bail is and we could see some snow in south-east England and East

:08:56. > :08:59.Anglia. Close to home in Wales, some rain, sleet and snow in parts of the

:09:00. > :09:05.south and south-east. They could be a few centimetres on the heads of

:09:06. > :09:08.the valleys before it clears away. The wind is picking up again

:09:09. > :09:15.tomorrow afternoon and that will make it feel cold. The wind tomorrow

:09:16. > :09:22.night is gale force on the north and west coast and it will blow lots of

:09:23. > :09:25.wintry showers across the country. A risk of ice with temperatures close
