:00:44. > :00:48.Tidal Lagoon Power is waiting for the green light from the UK
:00:49. > :00:51.government, on the billion pound project - but says other countries
:00:52. > :00:58.It comes as the former energy minister, Charles Hendry -
:00:59. > :01:00.who led an independent review into the lagoon - urged
:01:01. > :01:04.the government to give their backing "sooner rather than later".

:01:15. > :01:17.The company behind plan say they are ready to go.
:01:18. > :01:21.But building work has been held up due to negotiations with the UK
:01:22. > :01:24.Government over the price they will guarantee to pay
:01:25. > :01:28.for the electricity from the scheme to be fed into the National Grid.
:01:29. > :01:31.In the meantime other countries like India, they claim,
:01:32. > :01:41.Deliver the jobs and deliver the value throughout Wales
:01:42. > :01:45.If we are a first mover other countries will follow, not lead.
:01:46. > :01:48.It's been two weeks since a former energy minister gave that reality
:01:49. > :01:53.Today Charles Hendry was in Wales to meet politicians and business
:01:54. > :01:58.leaders who gave evidence to the review about
:01:59. > :02:06.He concluded they provide affordable green energy,
:02:07. > :02:10.and building one as a test would be in the national interests.
:02:11. > :02:13.We have to make decisions now for how we generate the power
:02:14. > :02:17.We have 100 billion to invest in new energy and infrastructure.
:02:18. > :02:20.If we don't do that we are going to have a real crisis.
:02:21. > :02:24.We want the supply chain to invest in new jobs and we need to give them
:02:25. > :02:31.Charles Hendry said that what he found striking was the level
:02:32. > :02:35.of enthusiasm shown by locals for what is, in essence, a new power
:02:36. > :02:41.He'd never seen anything like it, he said.
:02:42. > :02:45.He urged people to write to the Government and Theresa May
:02:46. > :02:52.Andrew Scott Ltd, acivil engineering firm hopes they'll
:02:53. > :02:57.They've spent ?100,000 on the tendering project.
:02:58. > :03:01.We've been frustrated waiting for a decision to be made,
:03:02. > :03:07.This is a brilliant project for the region.
:03:08. > :03:10.We've got skills that are drizzly transferable,
:03:11. > :03:14.to the tidal lagoon project, and skills that,
:03:15. > :03:19.Ministers say they are considering the findings of the review carefully
:03:20. > :03:22.and will make a decision on whether to give the scheme
:03:23. > :03:27.There are outstanding environmental concerns though,
:03:28. > :03:30.the developers are yet to be granted a Marine license from
:03:31. > :03:36.But the pressure is certainly mounting on all involved to make
:03:37. > :03:42.As the Tidal Lagoon waits to be given the go-ahead tonight
:03:43. > :03:44.there are serious questions over the future of the multi
:03:45. > :03:48.million pound race track, planned near Ebbw Vale.
:03:49. > :03:51.Those behind the Circuit of Wales, have been given a two week deadline
:03:52. > :03:54.by the Welsh government, to show that they have
:03:55. > :03:56.enough financial backing for the scheme to go ahead.

:04:01. > :04:02.It's an ambitious and expensive project, supporters believe it
:04:03. > :04:05.could transform Ebbw Vale attracting international events
:04:06. > :04:15.But they have been significant delays to the work
:04:16. > :04:21.It had asked the Welsh government to underwrite the entire
:04:22. > :04:23.cost of the project, ministers told the circuit of Wales
:04:24. > :04:26.to find more investors who were willing to accept more
:04:27. > :04:31.Then they would consider underwriting 50% of the cost.
:04:32. > :04:34.The economy secretary previously said this could not be allowed
:04:35. > :04:38.This afternoon Ken Scates issued a deadline.
:04:39. > :04:41.I have therefore written to the heads of the valleys
:04:42. > :04:44.development Corporation today, asking them to make faster
:04:45. > :04:52.Asking for evidence of named investor term sheets
:04:53. > :04:58.The company has worked hard to get backing for the project,
:04:59. > :05:00.not least with the local community in Blaenau Gwent.
:05:01. > :05:02.Claiming it would bring 6000 new jobs.
:05:03. > :05:05.But many, including investors, privately question how strong
:05:06. > :05:08.the business case is for the circuit of Wales, and whether it
:05:09. > :05:13.The company says it welcomes the Welsh government
:05:14. > :05:19.deadline, which it adds, ties in with its own timetable.
:05:20. > :05:23.A man from Swansea has been charged with terrorism offences.
:05:24. > :05:26.26-year-old Lee Edward Griffiths is due to appear at Westminster
