:00:38. > :00:39.That's according to the leader of Torfaen Council.

:00:40. > :00:41.Labour's Anthony Hunt told Wales Today that he and other

:00:42. > :00:43.council leaders would work with the Home Office,

:00:44. > :00:47.350 child refugees will have arrived in the UK by the time

:00:48. > :00:49.the scheme ends in March, with 32 having already

:00:50. > :01:03.Fire lights up the sky above Calais in France last year as the makeshift

:01:04. > :01:06.Sam from Newport was part of a volunteer group which took

:01:07. > :01:16.There were children there sleeping under those blankets.

:01:17. > :01:19.We had to go to the warehouse and fetch blankets.

:01:20. > :01:22.She claims in several short visits over 18 months she met more than 150

:01:23. > :01:28.children who had no one at all to look after them.

:01:29. > :01:30.These children are alone and all they have learnt

:01:31. > :01:33.to do is keep walking, keep walking, keep walking,

:01:34. > :01:36.and then they get to Calais, which is the end of the road,

:01:37. > :01:39.and they don't know where to walk now because all they knew

:01:40. > :01:41.was that they lost their parents somewhere along the road

:01:42. > :01:46.From places like Syria, the UK accepted around 8000 child

:01:47. > :01:50.Many who leave war zones make their own way to Europe, many

:01:51. > :01:55.Some hoped as many as 3000 might be resettled here who don't have any

:01:56. > :02:00.The government has confirmed that it will be far lower than that.

:02:01. > :02:09.Many councils in Wales say that announcement was premature.

:02:10. > :02:10.We have not reached a definite position

:02:11. > :02:14.This is disappointing really that we find out that the government

:02:15. > :02:22.seemed to have given up on the situation.

:02:29. > :02:31.given the funding and given that we get the technicalities right
