:00:47. > :00:49.from Newport because she was late for an emergency appointment.

:00:50. > :00:51.Five-year-old Ellie-May Clark died later the same evening

:00:52. > :00:57.Dr Joanna Rowe was been given a warning by the GMC and has now

:00:58. > :01:08.That's how Brandi Clarke from Newport remembers her granddaughter,

:01:09. > :01:13.You don't cope, you just get on, take each day as it comes.

:01:14. > :01:17.You just try and get through it the best you can.

:01:18. > :01:31.Ellie-May had a history of severe asthma, ending up in a high

:01:32. > :01:35.dependency unit five times before receiving help from her local

:01:36. > :01:40.surgery a further five times in the six months before her death.

:01:41. > :01:43.On 22nd of January 2015, short of breath, Ellie-May came

:01:44. > :01:51.Her mother rang the surgery to book an emergency appointment.

:01:52. > :01:55.Due at the Grange clinic in Newport at five, Ellie-May's mother said

:01:56. > :01:58.she arrived at eight minutes past, although the receptionist said

:01:59. > :02:05.Dr Joanne Rowe refused to see Ellie-May because she was late

:02:06. > :02:09.and said she could come back the following morning.

:02:10. > :02:14.Later that night, while Ellie-May Mae was in bed,

:02:17. > :02:18.her parents discovered she was having a seizure

:02:19. > :02:22.She died that night after doctors at the Royal Gwent Hospital

:02:23. > :02:25.An internal investigation by Aneurin Bevan Health Board found

:02:26. > :02:29.that doctors at the surgery had been alerted to the risk Ellie-May faced

:02:30. > :02:33.of having an episode of severe life-threatening asthma.

:02:34. > :02:38.It also adds that whilst some doctors turned no-one away,

:02:39. > :02:42.Dr Rowe was most likely to turn patients away who turned up late.

:02:43. > :02:46.And the report also says that there was a consensus amongst

:02:47. > :02:51.reception staff here that Dr Rowe was unapproachable and volatile,

:02:52. > :02:55.The GP's case was passed to the disciplinary panel.

:02:56. > :02:59.Although Dr Rowe has been issued with a five-year warning,

:03:00. > :03:03.the General Medical Council or GMC dealt with her hearing

:03:04. > :03:11.Ellie-May's family received a copy of the Aneurin Bevan report

:03:12. > :03:16.They've apologised but some are calling for greater transparency.

:03:17. > :03:20.If a warning is given, and there is no explanation,

:03:21. > :03:25.the relatives of that patient who's been hurt have no idea on what basis

:03:26. > :03:34.Dr Joanne Rowe was suspended on full pay for six months but continues

:03:35. > :03:39.to practice at this surgery in the Splott area of Cardiff.

:03:40. > :03:43.She has declined to comment on five-year

:03:44. > :04:08.The MP for Arfon has said that the student to be deported has had her

:04:09. > :04:14.deportation order lifted. She was to be deported three months before she

:04:15. > :04:15.completes her degree. The MP says he expected to be released later

:04:57. > :04:59.to the murders. In Zoe Morgan, it was said

:05:00. > :05:04.Lee Simmons had found love. They worked together in Matalan

:05:05. > :05:11.and were waiting outside the city centre store in Queen Street

:05:12. > :05:13.when they were attacked. Andrew Saunders was Zoe's

:05:14. > :05:15.previous boyfriend. The court heard how in the days

:05:16. > :05:20.leading up to the murders Witnesses described how

:05:21. > :05:25.he had first attacked Lee, ignoring his pleas for help

:05:26. > :05:30.and when Zoe failed to stop him and ran away, he had caught her,

:05:31. > :05:33.and with a second knife, he stabbed her too, before

:05:34. > :05:35.casually walking away. Investigations revealed he'd been

:05:36. > :05:39.watching YouTube videos about revenge and googling

:05:40. > :05:42.methods of killing. In mitigation, his lawyer said

:05:43. > :05:45.in school, teachers had described him as a gentle giant,

:05:46. > :05:51.a young man with outstanding grades He'd won a scholarship

:05:52. > :05:56.to play American football at University in Canada,

:05:57. > :06:00.but the death of his grandfather and the break-up with Zoe had

:06:01. > :06:04.left him in emotional After the murders, he was diagnosed

:06:05. > :06:08.with adjustment disorder . His lawyer said he was an adolescent

:06:09. > :06:12.who couldn't manage. In the weeks following their deaths,

:06:13. > :06:16.friends held vigils for Zoe and Lee. Today, statements were read out

:06:17. > :06:20.from the couple's families. Zoe's mother said their world has

:06:21. > :06:26.been turned upside down and they've padlocked her daughter's room so it

:06:27. > :06:28.remains as she left it. Lee's father said he cannot look

:06:29. > :06:31.at pictures of his son. Andrew Saunders is said to be

:06:32. > :06:37.genuinely remorseful and wishes Sentencing is expected

:06:38. > :06:50.to take place tomorrow. Nearly ?14 million of improvements

:06:51. > :06:53.have been approved for the accident and emergency department
