:00:00. > :00:00.Tonight's headlines: Five bodies have now been recovered in Snowdonia

:00:07. > :00:12.And coracle fishermen choose to return their catch as salmon

:00:13. > :00:32.stocks on the River Teifi approach "crisis point".

:00:33. > :00:35.Five bodies have been recovered from a helicopter

:00:36. > :00:38.The operation had been hampered by poor weather

:00:39. > :00:41.Married couple Kevin and Ruth Burke owned the helicopter.

:00:42. > :00:45.They were on board with three other members of their family,

:00:46. > :00:47.named tonight as Donald, Barry and Sharon Burke.

:00:48. > :00:54.They were travelling from near Milton Keynes on Wednesday

:00:55. > :00:57.en route to Dublin when they crashed in the Rhinog mountains.

:00:58. > :00:59.More than 80 people have been involved in the recovery

:01:00. > :01:11.and investigation, as Roger Pinney reports.

:01:12. > :01:17.A break in the weather, and a search and rescue helicopter was able to

:01:18. > :01:20.fly over the scene. The area is known as the Celtic Badlands, so

:01:21. > :01:25.tough is the terrain there. At last a recovery operation could get

:01:26. > :01:29.underway. Convoys of vehicles making the tortuous journey to the site,

:01:30. > :01:34.carrying teams drafted in to help. This is as close as we are allowed

:01:35. > :01:41.to get to the crash site. From here, it is a half hour in a four by four

:01:42. > :01:44.and then to our climate for, scrambled to more than 400 metres

:01:45. > :01:47.above sea level. This evening, police confirmed that five bodies

:01:48. > :01:52.have not been recovered. More than 80 people have been involved in the

:01:53. > :01:55.operation, from the military, the police, coastguard and civilian

:01:56. > :01:59.mountain rescue teams. This photo, released at the request of the

:02:00. > :02:03.family of those who died, shows where the crash happened, and an

:02:04. > :02:07.indication of the conditions. That is something North Wales Police

:02:08. > :02:11.spoke about earlier in the day. We have got very skilled individuals of

:02:12. > :02:15.their the moment, but even they are finding it extremely difficult.

:02:16. > :02:21.The slopes are very slippery and treacherous, and the recent rains

:02:22. > :02:24.have not made the underfoot particularly easy either. Heather

:02:25. > :02:27.has become very slippery as well on the Downs, so it is particularly

:02:28. > :02:33.challenging up there. Those he died included Kevin and

:02:34. > :02:37.Ruth Burke from the Milton Keynes. The helicopter is registered to

:02:38. > :02:41.them. The others were members of their family, all travelling to a

:02:42. > :02:45.family baptism in Ireland. At home, there was this reaction.

:02:46. > :02:48.Very, very sad. And of course, terrible shock for people who live

:02:49. > :02:54.in this community. As you can see, it is a very small one, and Kevin

:02:55. > :02:58.Andrews had only just moved into this magnificent new house that they

:02:59. > :03:03.had been building for the last couple of years. -- Kevin and Ruth.

:03:04. > :03:08.For the aviation authorities, the main task now is to discover what

:03:09. > :03:14.went wrong. A team is already at work. Once recovered, the wreckage

:03:15. > :03:15.will be minutely examined at the Air Accident Investigation branch

:03:16. > :03:19.headquarters at Farnworth in Hampshire.

:03:20. > :03:22.If it is a fairly straightforward accident, the investigators will

:03:23. > :03:27.have a reasonable idea of what happened fairly soon. However, they

:03:28. > :03:35.have to cover all possibilities, and the investigation will follow the

:03:36. > :03:40.same processes as it would if they weren't certain of what happened.

:03:41. > :03:43.But nothing will happen quickly. The terrain and weather conspired to

:03:44. > :03:45.make this all an exacting, arduous operation.

:03:46. > :03:47.A Wrexham council binman has pleaded guilty to three terror offences.

:03:48. > :03:50.49-year-old Aabid Ali - from Yale Park in Wrexham -

:03:51. > :03:54.was known as Darren Glennon before he converted to Islam.

:03:55. > :03:58.He was found in possession of two terror manuals,

:03:59. > :04:01.and also published a statement on YouTube encouraging others

:04:02. > :04:05.He'll be sentenced next month in Manchester.

:04:06. > :04:08.A man in his twenties has been charged with murder,

:04:09. > :04:11.after the death of a disabled man in Wrexham.

:04:12. > :04:13.The body of 67-year-old Nicholas Anthony Churton

:04:14. > :04:16.was found at his home in Crescent Close on Monday morning.

:04:17. > :04:20.Jordan Davidson also faces three charges of robbery,

:04:21. > :04:23.two of burglary, and offences against police officers.

:04:24. > :04:27.He's due to appear before Wrexham magistrates in the morning.

:04:28. > :04:30.One of Britain's best known endurance cyclists has been killed

:04:31. > :04:36.35-year-old Mike Hall lived in Monmouthshire,

:04:37. > :04:40.He was competing in the Indian Pacific Wheel Race,

:04:41. > :04:43.south of Canberra, when he was hit by a car.

:04:44. > :04:50.The race, from Perth to Sydney, was cancelled after the crash.

:04:51. > :04:52.Coracle fishermen on the River Teifi are taking the unprecedented step

:04:53. > :04:59.It's because of increasing concerns about fish stocks.

:05:00. > :05:01.Natural Resources Wales says the situation is

:05:02. > :05:10.approaching "crisis point". Aled Scourfield reports.

:05:11. > :05:14.These fishermen have the guardians of a tradition that has been

:05:15. > :05:19.practised in the rivers of Wales since pre-Roman times. The Teifi

:05:20. > :05:24.coracle men still use their ancient craft to capture salmon and sea weed

:05:25. > :05:28.with nets. The river Teifi is often described as the Queen of Welsh game

:05:29. > :05:31.fishing rivers, but there is mounting concern about salmon

:05:32. > :05:35.numbers. These coracle men say they have taken the difficult the season

:05:36. > :05:39.to release the salmon they catch. From the 1st of April till the 1st

:05:40. > :05:43.of June, we have to release any salmon that we catch anyway, as part

:05:44. > :05:47.of the licence regulations. However, from that time on till the end of

:05:48. > :05:52.the season, we have made the decision now to actually release all

:05:53. > :05:55.salmon that we catch, and put them back into the system so they can

:05:56. > :05:59.follow on to spawn. What has prompted that? Is it purely

:06:00. > :06:02.witnessing this decline in the last few years?

:06:03. > :06:05.Yeah, definitely. A decline in the fish we are catching, you want to

:06:06. > :06:11.make sure this fishing style is kept for our children to be able to be

:06:12. > :06:14.done in generations to come. Latest figures from Natural

:06:15. > :06:19.Resources Wales show that there has been a sharp decline in the number

:06:20. > :06:24.of salmon caught on the Teifi. There were around 115 declared net catches

:06:25. > :06:31.of salmon in 2014. That's more than halved to around 45 in 2015.

:06:32. > :06:35.Declared rod catches of salmon are also down from 320 14 to around 210

:06:36. > :06:40.the following year. But what is responsible for the decline? There

:06:41. > :06:43.have been very well-publicised pollution incidents on other parts

:06:44. > :06:47.of the River Thames macro. More than a thousand fish were killed back in

:06:48. > :06:50.December by a slurry league. There is also concern global warming may

:06:51. > :06:55.be having an impact on the temperature of our rivers, which may

:06:56. > :07:00.in turn affects pawning. Coracle men on the Teifi say they have no option

:07:01. > :07:07.but to protect what is left. We would like the river to thrive,

:07:08. > :07:10.you know? It wouldn't be good to fish it out, for sure.

:07:11. > :07:13.Natural Resources Wales will be holding a consultation in me on

:07:14. > :07:17.whether to make catch and release compulsory across the country to

:07:18. > :07:22.help protect fish stocks, and they admit that salmon stocks on the

:07:23. > :07:25.Teifi are reaching crisis point. Generally, the number of salmon

:07:26. > :07:30.stocks in particular have been declining over the last few years.

:07:31. > :07:33.We picked this up to the ongoing monitoring work we undertake. So it

:07:34. > :07:36.is coming to a fairly critical position, especially in light of

:07:37. > :07:41.salmon stocks at the moment. Are we talking about a crisis?

:07:42. > :07:44.We're getting very close to a crisis situation, and it is now time that

:07:45. > :07:47.something is done to try and address this matter.

:07:48. > :07:50.These coracle men hope their decision to return their catches of

:07:51. > :07:52.salmon will be followed by other fishermen and the Teifi to help

:07:53. > :07:53.protect this river for future generations.

:07:54. > :08:01.Here's Derek Brockway with a full forecast.

:08:02. > :08:08.Hello. We are in for a mixed bag this weekend. That means sunshine

:08:09. > :08:11.and April showers tomorrow, but better on Sunday, fine and dry

:08:12. > :08:16.thanks to a ridge of high pressure. Tonight, more rain and showers on

:08:17. > :08:20.the way. Heavy in places. Drying up in the south-west later in the

:08:21. > :08:23.night, and slightly fresher than recent nights, with temperatures

:08:24. > :08:27.dropping into single figures. Tomorrow, there will be showers

:08:28. > :08:30.around in the morning. They could be having in places, but some dry,

:08:31. > :08:36.bright weather and sunshine as well. Across the rest of the UK, a similar

:08:37. > :08:40.story, really. Sunshine and showers, some showers heavy, hail and thunder

:08:41. > :08:44.possible. Some parts will be lucky and stay dry. The best of the

:08:45. > :08:50.sunshine on some of the coast. Top temperatures, 13 in Belfast, up to

:08:51. > :08:54.15 in London. Close to home, case of dodging showers tomorrow afternoon,

:08:55. > :08:57.and they could be heavy, with hail and thunder. Part of the north and

:08:58. > :09:03.West will become sunny later in the afternoon, with highs of 11 in

:09:04. > :09:06.Aberystwyth, 14 in Newport. Tomorrow evening, Lenny showers in South

:09:07. > :09:10.Wales will fade away, leaving us all dry overnight. The sky will be clear

:09:11. > :09:15.and it will turn chilly, with a touch of ground frost in the

:09:16. > :09:19.countryside. Sunday looks a nice day, dry with sunny spells. Some are

:09:20. > :09:21.building up inland. Temperatures not that high, but in the sunshine and

:09:22. > :09:28.light winds, it will feel pleasantly warm. On Monday, more dry weather to

:09:29. > :09:31.come, but it may not stay dry all day. Rain over Ireland will spread

:09:32. > :09:36.across Wales during the evening and on Monday night. And then beyond

:09:37. > :09:42.that, high pressure over the Atlantic is going to take control.

:09:43. > :09:45.So, sunshine and April showers tomorrow. Sunday, the better day of

:09:46. > :09:46.the weekend. A drop of rain on Monday night, and the rest of the

:09:47. > :09:48.week, fine and dry. We're back tomorrow evening

:09:49. > :09:49.at quarter to seven. From all of us on the

:09:50. > :09:54.programme goodnight -
