:05:01. > :05:12.It caused widespread disruption across new sport,

:05:13. > :05:17.the result of police precautions at a time when people say

:05:18. > :05:20.And with security heightened and an increased police presence

:05:21. > :05:25.Leanne Wood, has criticised funding cuts to the police in the wake

:05:26. > :05:28.She was appearing on BBC Wales' Ask The Leader programme.

:05:29. > :05:32.It is difficult to imagine doing a job where you have to run into a

:05:33. > :05:37.situation of danger when everybody else is running away.

:05:38. > :05:41.I know that, from the police officers that I have

:05:42. > :05:46.spoken to in recent times, there is a lot of anger there.

:05:47. > :05:53.Also appearing tonight's Ask The Leader programme -

:06:20. > :06:26.Meanwhile, launching Ukip's Welsh general

:06:33. > :06:33.by the democratic process continuing.

:06:34. > :06:41.Parties suspended their campaigns for two days

:07:15. > :07:22.It also includes pledges on devolved issues such as health and education,

:07:23. > :07:24.highly unlikely to be implemented, given that Ukip Assembly Members

:07:25. > :07:36.Entitled Wales Into The World, Ukip's manifesto offers a vision

:07:37. > :07:38.for the country after Brexit, but there are serious

:07:39. > :07:40.questions about Ukip's future now that we are leaving

:07:41. > :07:49.Since their breakthrough in last year's Assembly election,

:07:50. > :07:52.when they won seats for the very first time, the party's opinion poll

:07:53. > :07:56.It is hard, you are right, and that's why we are in the process

:07:57. > :07:57.of changing people's perceptions of us.

:07:58. > :08:05.Even on the most pessimistic polls,

:08:06. > :08:11.one in 20 of the population supports Ukip.

:08:12. > :08:14.But such support is unlikely to change the fact that Ukip

:08:15. > :08:23.In fact, the party is only standing candidates in 32

:08:24. > :08:26.of the 40 Welsh seats after having a full slate in 2015.

:08:27. > :08:28.Is Ukip going backwards with Neil Hamilton at the helm?

:08:29. > :08:33.You've seen the polls that suggest your personal

:08:34. > :08:38.Yes, but I'm not the leader of the party, I'm not seeking

:08:39. > :08:40.to become Prime Minister, I'm merely the leader

:08:41. > :08:43.of the group in the Assembly, and I can tell you...

:08:44. > :08:45.Even among your own supporters the numbers aren't great.

:08:46. > :08:51.When Christine first took me home to meet her mother,

:08:52. > :08:55.she took the same view of me but I grew on her over the years

:08:56. > :08:58.and I hope I have the same effect on the Welsh people.

:08:59. > :09:00.We'll see in exactly two weeks' time.

:09:01. > :09:07.Two men from north Wales have been charged with the murder

:09:08. > :09:12.21-year-old Shkelzen Dauti also known as "Genny" from Albania,

:09:13. > :09:14.died after being found stabbed in the early

:09:15. > :09:18.27-year-old Christopher Jones, from Denbigh, and Lee Williams,

:09:19. > :09:20.also 27 and from Flintshire, are due before Southampton

:09:21. > :09:27.Two men and two women have been charged following

:09:28. > :09:29.a Dyfed-Powys Police's investigation into historical child abuse

:09:30. > :09:42.place at Rhydygors School in the 70s and 80s, and Cartref-Y-Gelli

:09:43. > :09:56.children's home between 1986 and 1990.

:09:57. > :10:05.A bridge that block the river at the time and led to the flooding of more

:10:06. > :10:08.than 400 homes. Despite the disruption, inconvenience and

:10:09. > :10:15.timescale, this 30 tonne Reg Spann is a welcome arrival. It is one of

:10:16. > :10:20.five sections of a cross link that will provide protection against

:10:21. > :10:25.flooding. When they are ready, they will take out the old bridge and the

:10:26. > :10:32.new bridge will have a new level higher than the old bridge. The

:10:33. > :10:38.bridge would have to be replaced. When the rains came in 20 12,000 of

:10:39. > :10:43.people had to leave their homes and 91-year-old Margaret Hughes died. It

:10:44. > :10:49.was already high and debris piling up led in part to the water bursting

:10:50. > :10:55.its banks. After a couple of days of sunny weather, the river level is

:10:56. > :10:59.low. Hard to believe that the water over to the bridge at all of this

:11:00. > :11:04.area was submerged. Now a higher bridge should reduce that happening

:11:05. > :11:10.again. The spectacle of an 80 foot crane has attracted onlookers, one

:11:11. > :11:17.of the city mayor. He says this work is reassuring for many. When we get

:11:18. > :11:22.more than a day's rein in the winter, the residents are so worried

:11:23. > :11:27.about it. It is unbelievable. This will give tremendous relief to most

:11:28. > :11:31.of our residents. The old bridge will be removed and the project will

:11:32. > :11:34.be completed by winter, when its effectiveness could be put to the

:11:35. > :11:39.test. Time for a look at the weather. Is the sunshine going to

:11:40. > :11:47.continue? For one more day. The warmest day of the year so far. 28

:11:48. > :11:52.Celsius and if anything it could be even hotter tomorrow. If we take a

:11:53. > :11:59.look at the map, a coastal mist and largely clear. Large wins and very

:12:00. > :12:03.mild. Those of 13 Celsius. Closer to the average daytime temperatures for

:12:04. > :12:07.me. High pressure brings settled weather tomorrow, drawing up here

:12:08. > :12:12.from the continent. This front is edging closer. Tomorrow, any early

:12:13. > :12:21.Mr Cockburn back to the coast and turning warm and sunny. With strong

:12:22. > :12:27.sunshine and high UV levels. The weather cloud at times. Temperatures

:12:28. > :12:33.in the mid-20s and high 20s likely in south England. These sunny

:12:34. > :12:37.afternoon with temperatures in the high 20s. The breeze picking up in

:12:38. > :12:42.the west later. High-pressure is likely to break down as we head into

:12:43. > :12:47.the weekend. This cold front will push in from the west overnight on

:12:48. > :12:53.Saturday as it hits the air, increasing risk of thundery showers.

:12:54. > :12:57.Pleasantly warm tomorrow and cloud thickening from the west. Mild,

:12:58. > :13:02.Misty and muddy and thundery showers overnight. Those showers will come

:13:03. > :13:05.in from the south-west on Saturday morning. Improving through the day

:13:06. > :13:12.and south-westerly wins. Still quite warm. The 20s. A much fresher feel

:13:13. > :13:16.on Sunday. Sunny spells and cloud and maybe the odd shower.

:13:17. > :13:22.Temperatures back nearer the May average. And he very much. We will

:13:23. > :13:27.be back with updates from around 6:25am in to BBC Breakfast. From all

:13:28. > :13:28.of us here, thank you for your company and he very good night.

:13:29. > :13:32.Goodbye.
