:00:38. > :00:41.after he promised to stand down as an MEP, if he were elected

:00:42. > :00:45.Our political correspondent, Arwyn Jones has more.

:00:46. > :01:11.He's been the face of UKIP in Wales for years, more prominent

:01:12. > :01:13.than any other member of his party during the assembly election

:01:14. > :01:16.But tonight it's unclear if Nathan Gill is still

:01:17. > :01:21.Before being elected to the Assembly, Mr Gill had

:01:22. > :01:27.But now he says that would cause a by-election, so problems

:01:28. > :01:30.for the party, and an unnecessary expense for the taxpayer.

:01:31. > :01:33.The party's ruling body had threatened to expel him,

:01:34. > :01:37.and this morning, speaking to me on BBC Radio Wales'

:01:38. > :01:40.Sunday Supplement programme, a senior member of the party

:01:41. > :01:43.in Wales said Mr Gill has been kicked out.

:01:44. > :01:46.But as I understand it, his expulsion from the party will be

:01:47. > :01:51.automatically taking effect today because I had a communication last

:01:52. > :01:55.night from the National Executive who said that it would be automatic.

:01:56. > :01:59.On the 31st of July, the NEC result to expel

:02:00. > :02:02.Nathan Gill of the party membership effective Sunday the 7th

:02:03. > :02:07.of August unless he either resigns as an AM or as an MEP.

:02:08. > :02:10.UKIP have failed to respond to our requests of

:02:11. > :02:15.Aides of Mr Gill insist the issue will be discussed at a meeting

:02:16. > :02:18.tomorrow and, in the meantime, he's still a member.

:02:19. > :02:20.But they also say he was asked to remain as an MEP

:02:21. > :02:37.He would stand as an independent which would be a great shame to see

:02:38. > :02:41.the reader of Ukip in Wales kicked out the party by doing what has been

:02:42. > :02:45.asked of him by Nigel Farage, the party chairman and party director to

:02:46. > :02:47.stay on until this post could then be filled.

:02:48. > :02:50.Mr Gill was appointed leader of UKIP in Wales in December 2014.

:02:51. > :02:53.If he's thrown out, it will be the latest in a series of damaging

:02:54. > :02:58.splits which have plagued the party over the past year.

:02:59. > :03:01.A factory unit and cars have been severely damaged in a blaze

:03:02. > :03:04.Firefighters were called to Hirwaun Industrial Estate shortly

:03:05. > :03:08.They took around 90 minutes to bring the fire under control and damp down

:03:09. > :03:10.neighbouring buildings, to protect them from the flames.

:03:11. > :03:18.The cause is still being investigated.
