0:00:12 > 0:00:13Good evening.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16Voters here would turn down devolution if a referendum

0:00:16 > 0:00:18on the existence of the Welsh Assembly was held now -

0:00:18 > 0:00:21that's according to the leader of the Welsh Conservatives.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24Andrew RT Davies insists he supports devolution but claims

0:00:24 > 0:00:27the Assembly and the Welsh Government have failed

0:00:27 > 0:00:29to convince the public.

0:00:29 > 0:00:35Here's our Political Correspondent, Arwyn Jones.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38The end of the road for these runners this morning in the shadow

0:00:38 > 0:00:43of the Assembly building in Cardiff Bay.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46It is fair to say devolution is a marathon, not a sprint.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Since it was created in 1999, there's been another referendum to

0:00:48 > 0:00:50give this place more powers and opinion polls

0:00:50 > 0:00:53suggest support is growing.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56Some of the runners here who support devolution said more work

0:00:56 > 0:00:59was still needed to convince the voters.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01There's a lack of understanding and communication as

0:01:01 > 0:01:04to the relevance of the Welsh Assembly government in

0:01:04 > 0:01:06people's lives.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09And people have a general mistrust of politicians and the

0:01:09 > 0:01:13establishment at the moment sadly.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15With politics it is well, sort of, they'll do it.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17We will just carry on and someone else will decide.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19I think if they let people know enough

0:01:19 > 0:01:21about politics... because it affects everybody.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Andrew RT Davies was the only party leader in Wales to

0:01:24 > 0:01:25campaign to leave the EU.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28He says that vote gives the political

0:01:28 > 0:01:31establishment here such a kicking that support for the Assembly and

0:01:31 > 0:01:34the Welsh government can no longer be taken for granted and that

0:01:34 > 0:01:37a referendum to create an Assembly would not be won.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39We've seen with the EU referendum that there is a strong

0:01:39 > 0:01:42antiestablishment vein running through the voters'

0:01:42 > 0:01:44minds at the moment.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47The further away from Cardiff you go the less

0:01:47 > 0:01:49warm the embrace given to the National Assembly.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53Particularly in North Wales and in West Wales for example.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55It is for politicians to raise their game

0:01:55 > 0:01:57and promote the virtues of what

0:01:57 > 0:02:00the National Assembly does for the people of Wales and indeed

0:02:00 > 0:02:02actually redefine how decision-making is

0:02:02 > 0:02:04taken here in Wales.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07Good morning.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10The Assembly was created by the tiniest of margins nearly 20

0:02:10 > 0:02:11years ago.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14The Welsh government says the public will judge its success on how

0:02:14 > 0:02:16policies help their lives but that it won't take

0:02:16 > 0:02:18anything for granted.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21The last BHS store in Wales has closed today, in Swansea.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24The company had six stores here and hundreds of jobs have been lost.

0:02:24 > 0:02:31But the staff in Swansea decided to go out on a high -

0:02:31 > 0:02:32as Nicola Smith reports.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34CHEERING.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37You'd be forgiven for thinking it's Christmas but staff

0:02:37 > 0:02:41here are trying to bring some cheer to the store on its final day of

0:02:41 > 0:02:43trading.

0:02:43 > 0:02:5055 people work in Swansea including single mum, Dawn.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52I've been here ten years and I'm absolutely

0:02:52 > 0:02:54gutted that the shop is closing.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55I'm likely to cry.

0:02:55 > 0:02:56Genuinely.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57I've loved every minute here.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Absolutely loved every minute of working here.

0:03:00 > 0:03:01Today, she is saying goodbye along with the

0:03:01 > 0:03:04hundreds of shoppers who came to a pick up a bargain and make one

0:03:04 > 0:03:07last visit to a store that's been here for generations.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09The other Welsh shops in Carmarthen, Cardiff Bay, Newport,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11Wrexham and Llandudno have already closed after the retailer was put

0:03:11 > 0:03:13into administration.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15I will miss it dreadfully.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17I know.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20For our age group we don't get many choices.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22It's sad really, isn't it?

0:03:22 > 0:03:24Woolworths and everything.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26All the old stores are going.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28Yeah, another one gone.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31There will be more going to go, isn't there?

0:03:31 > 0:03:33It's all down to outlets outside the city, that's

0:03:33 > 0:03:34what it's all down to.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36But despite the uncertainty over the future of

0:03:36 > 0:03:40their pensions, the store manager told me 80% of his staff have found

0:03:40 > 0:03:42new jobs.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45Lots of the retailers on the high Street have been very

0:03:45 > 0:03:46helpful to us.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48They've managed to secure vacancies for our staff and

0:03:48 > 0:03:51the staff that work here, you know, yes, of course I'm biased but my

0:03:51 > 0:03:53staff have been fabulous.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55They are fabulous and they're going to be a credit

0:03:55 > 0:03:57to other people where they go to work.

0:03:57 > 0:03:58Just really good.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01A couple of weeks ago I had my first interview in ten years

0:04:01 > 0:04:02and thankfully I got the job.

0:04:02 > 0:04:03So, yeah.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05I was breathing a sigh of relief.

0:04:05 > 0:04:09Tonight when the doors are closed and the stock cleared the

0:04:09 > 0:04:11staff are holding their Christmas party.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15It marks the end of an era for them, for the city and for

0:04:15 > 0:04:22generations of BHS customers.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Cardiff Met have missed out on a place in the UEFA Women's

0:04:25 > 0:04:27Champions-League knock-out stages.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30They lost eight goals to nil to the Icelandic group

0:04:30 > 0:04:35winners Bray-the-Blick.

0:04:35 > 0:04:37Let's take a look at tomorrow's forecast -

0:04:37 > 0:04:39and it'll feel fresher overnight with lows of 12C.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42In the morning any mist or fogwill soon clear to leave a fine day,

0:04:42 > 0:04:44with good spells of sunshine and light winds.
