0:00:21 > 0:00:24A 26 year old local man is being questioned on suspicion of murder.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32It was just before two o'clock yesterday morning

0:00:32 > 0:00:33when officers were called

0:00:33 > 0:00:36following reports that a man was unconscious outside

0:00:36 > 0:00:41the Peep nightclub close to the centre of Bangor.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43North Wales Police say he was injured following an assault and

0:00:43 > 0:00:46their officers, along with paramedics, carried out

0:00:46 > 0:00:49CPR before he was taken by ambulance to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52He was later taken to hospital in Stoke, where he died.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55He was 27 and from Llangefni and has been described tonight

0:00:55 > 0:01:05as a young family man.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16The man originally arrested on suspicion of assault

0:01:16 > 0:01:18is now being held at Caernarfon police station

0:01:18 > 0:01:20after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

0:01:22 > 0:01:29and a team of detectives are working to establish exactly what happened.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37on Dean Street with photos, video or dash cam footage from

0:01:37 > 0:01:43between 1:30 and 2:15 on Saturday morning to contact them.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Universities should pay the voluntary living wage as part

0:01:45 > 0:01:46of a "civic mission".

0:01:46 > 0:01:50That's according to the Education Secretary, Kirsty Williams.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52The minister told the Sunday Politics Wales programme she's also

0:01:52 > 0:01:53calling for "much greater constraint" in setting

0:01:53 > 0:01:55the pay packets of universities' highest earners.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15The Living Wage Foundation thinks people should earn

0:02:15 > 0:02:18at least ?8.45 an hour to meet the cost of living,

0:02:18 > 0:02:22that is higher than the UK Government's national living

0:02:22 > 0:02:28wage which rose to ?7.50 this month for people aged 25 and over.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30I had two jobs before to make ends meet

0:02:30 > 0:02:33and it meant a lot of rushing around, you know,

0:02:33 > 0:02:36working till three o'clock, going home to pick my daughter up

0:02:36 > 0:02:39and then rush back to work, which was a nightmare.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42I didn't have much time for anything else.

0:02:42 > 0:02:48So when I came up here, it was great.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Paying the living wage cost Cardiff University ?600,000 a year.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53The Welsh government headquarters is just over the road

0:02:53 > 0:02:59from Cardiff University, The only Welsh university

0:02:59 > 0:03:01We need those universities to recognise the power

0:03:01 > 0:03:03that they have within our nation of Wales to do good.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06Yes, to educate people, but to use their powers and

0:03:06 > 0:03:09their resources, their facilities to contribute to the nation as a whole

0:03:09 > 0:03:11and paying the living wage to all staff is an important part

0:03:11 > 0:03:12of doing that.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Mrs Williams also called for a much greater constraint in the salaries

0:03:16 > 0:03:17of senior staff.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19In 2015, the vice chancellors of all Welsh

0:03:19 > 0:03:23universities earned more than ?200,000, but senior salaries

0:03:23 > 0:03:29were said to be broadly comparable with universities across the UK.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32The umbrella group for higher education,

0:03:32 > 0:03:34Universities Wales, said many institutions already have pay rates

0:03:34 > 0:03:37that matched the voluntary living wage, even if they weren't

0:03:37 > 0:03:42accredited living wage employers.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Last week, threats to jobs emerged

0:03:44 > 0:03:48at University of Wales Trinity St David

0:03:48 > 0:03:51and at the University of South Wales, a sign that universities

0:03:51 > 0:03:55aren't feeling flush.
