:00:10. > :00:13.Good evening. The last day of the month did very little to change the
:00:13. > :00:16.overall statistics that we brought you last night, that August has
:00:16. > :00:19.been a fairly dull month, lacking in sunshine. As we head into
:00:19. > :00:23.September, I can offer you something a bit brighter. We should
:00:23. > :00:28.see more sunshine, particularly in the south, and where the sun shines
:00:28. > :00:32.it will turn quite a bit warmer. That said it's chilly overnight. We
:00:32. > :00:35.have a fairly extensive blanket of cloud. Most of us having a dry
:00:35. > :00:39.night. Where we get breaks in the cloud, temperatures drop down,
:00:39. > :00:42.certainly to single figures in a few places. A coolish start to
:00:42. > :00:45.Thursday. Again, it is going to be a mostly cloudy day, but
:00:45. > :00:49.particularly in parts of the south- west we should have some sunshine.
:00:49. > :00:53.There was some here today. I'm optimistic there will be more blue
:00:53. > :00:56.sky here tomorrow. Most of Wales also started the day dry and bright
:00:56. > :01:00.with sunshine. It's as we head further north that we've got again
:01:00. > :01:04.a lot of cloud covering Northern Ireland. Here and there, a hint of
:01:04. > :01:08.brightness, but mostly it will be rather grey. Same goes for Scotland.
:01:08. > :01:12.Begun a lot of cloud sitting around, most places will be dry, but just
:01:12. > :01:15.rather drab start to Thursday. Perhaps one or two breaks in the
:01:15. > :01:19.cloud across parts of the east. Most of northern England, much of
:01:19. > :01:24.the Midlands and East Anglia starting dry but grey. Further
:01:24. > :01:27.south, we're most likely to see a bit of sunshine. As we go through
:01:27. > :01:31.the day there won't be a great deal of change. Southern counties of
:01:31. > :01:34.England, Wales, maybe the Midlands seeing good spells of sunshine.
:01:34. > :01:37.Elsewhere sunshine in short supply. Parts of north-east England and
:01:37. > :01:40.Scotland may tend to brighten up. But that sunshine really makes all
:01:41. > :01:47.the difference to the temperatures. Where it stays grey, we'll be stuck
:01:47. > :01:51.in the mid-teens. In the sunshine, though, easily 21 in the south. The
:01:51. > :01:55.vast majority have a dry day on Thursday, thanks to the area of
:01:55. > :01:58.high pressure. However, it is being ousted over the next few days by
:01:58. > :02:02.this weather front, tied into an interesting area of low pressure.
:02:02. > :02:05.This contains the remnants of Irene. Now that storm isn't heading
:02:05. > :02:08.anywhere near us, but this weather front will dangle down and bring
:02:08. > :02:11.rain, particularly on Thursday night across Scotland, a bit of
:02:11. > :02:15.light rain over northern England and North Wales for a time on
:02:15. > :02:18.Friday. Then more rain may return to the North West later on. For
:02:18. > :02:22.most of England and Wales it's a sunny and warmer day. 25 is
