:00:10. > :00:15.Good evening. It is a quiet start for many across the UK with a

:00:15. > :00:19.starry sky, perhaps. But it is a different story across the Atlantic.

:00:19. > :00:24.This is the beast that is Hurricane Sandy, currently making landfall

:00:24. > :00:27.across the New Jersey coastline. As most hurricanes make landfall, they

:00:27. > :00:31.tend to lose their intensity. Hurricane Sandy could be a

:00:31. > :00:35.different story as it hits this cold air spilling down from Canada.

:00:35. > :00:39.It is mixing with warm, moist air and that is reinvigorating it. It

:00:39. > :00:44.could be a significant storm for quite some time as it continues to

:00:44. > :00:49.attract further inland. It is a quieter story closer to bomb.

:00:49. > :00:59.Through the night tonight, it is going to be clear with -- clear and

:00:59. > :01:04.Chile. Showers fading away in that south-eastern corner. But mistiness

:01:04. > :01:12.falling upon most of England. Temperatures falling away quite

:01:12. > :01:15.rapidly in response. Close to freezing in some areas. Some icy

:01:15. > :01:18.stretch as possible in the north- east. More significant rain in the

:01:19. > :01:23.far north-west, but despite that fog first thing, it will be a

:01:23. > :01:28.pleasant start for many. Showers developing in the north-west of

:01:28. > :01:31.England and Northern Ireland. For western Scotland, for much of the

:01:31. > :01:34.afternoon, it will be a disappointing one. The wind will be

:01:34. > :01:40.strengthening and the rain was a persistent. The temperatures will

:01:40. > :01:43.struggle. We will keep a few showers across the north coast of

:01:43. > :01:48.Northern Ireland and maybe through the Lake District as well with

:01:48. > :01:51.highs of nine degrees. To the east of the Pennines, East Anglia, and

:01:52. > :01:55.into the south, more sunshine and eyes of 10 or 11. But that will be

:01:55. > :01:59.a little disappointing for this time of year. As we continue into

:01:59. > :02:03.Wednesday, our area of low pressure is going to push south and east.

:02:03. > :02:07.The wind will become more significant, particularly ahead of

:02:07. > :02:13.the front. Gale-force gusts are likely with significant rainfall

:02:13. > :02:17.potentially. The south-east corner may well stay dry during daylight

:02:17. > :02:21.hours, and our weather front continues to track further south

:02:21. > :02:24.and east, easing away during Thursday. The low pressure as never
