:00:10. > :00:14.Good evening. The new year may offer drier weather but until then

:00:14. > :00:16.it's more of the same. We could be on for breaking the record for the

:00:16. > :00:20.wettest year ever recorded because the next few days there is more

:00:20. > :00:25.rain in the forecast and strong winds, and the risk of flooding

:00:25. > :00:28.continues. A huge mass of cloud in the Atlantic and it's heading our

:00:28. > :00:32.way. The first signs of rain are already showing up in the south-

:00:32. > :00:35.west pushing into Northern Ireland and overnight we have this mild

:00:35. > :00:40.breeze pushing it along. Ahead of that it's cold and that rain will

:00:40. > :00:44.bump into the cold air across Scotland and it will turn that rain

:00:44. > :00:50.to snow. But those winds are mild and they will be raising

:00:50. > :00:54.temperatures overnight. Further north in Scotland, snow

:00:54. > :00:57.turns back to rain quite quickly through the morning and then we see

:00:57. > :01:00.significant snow melt so there is a risk of flooding and it's a wet and

:01:00. > :01:03.windy in the west of Scotland. Rather dull and damp across

:01:03. > :01:07.northern England through the morning. The rain's not too heavy

:01:07. > :01:11.here but it will be wetter for a time across the the south-east and

:01:11. > :01:13.East Anglia. It's more like light rain and drizzle through the

:01:13. > :01:17.southern counties of England. Towards the south-west here the

:01:17. > :01:23.rain will be more persistent through the morning. But it's you

:01:23. > :01:27.quite mild. -- but it's quite mild. Quite a wet start to the day across

:01:27. > :01:30.the bulk of Wales. Towards Northern Ireland, it's not so wet here.

:01:30. > :01:33.There will be some rain, most of that towards the west. The further

:01:33. > :01:38.east you are it's drier. Wherever you are it's going to be a windy

:01:38. > :01:41.day and cloudy day and the rain will be on and off for many places.

:01:41. > :01:47.Sunshine I suspect will be limited but there may be some towards the

:01:47. > :01:52.east of the Pennines. Temperatures in northern Scotland doing better

:01:52. > :01:56.than we saw today. Further south double figures, as

:01:56. > :02:04.well. But that's only on the face of it, factor in the winds winds

:02:05. > :02:07.which will be picking up all the while. We could see gusts up to

:02:07. > :02:13.75mph and we have this front working eastwards. It's there on

:02:13. > :02:16.Saturday, quite reluctant to clear from the the east of England but

:02:16. > :02:19.further west it should brighten up but there will be showers around,

:02:19. > :02:23.some of those turning wintry over the hills of Scotland. Another
