:00:08. > :00:13.Good evening. Much like the local forecast, the national picture is a

:00:14. > :00:16.stormy one in the next 24 hours. The Met Office have issued an amber

:00:17. > :00:20.weather warning for strong winds across southern counties. Wilts up

:00:21. > :00:25.to Surrey in particular. There will be some transport disruption, no

:00:26. > :00:29.doubt, and it could go beyond that, so if you're travelling across the

:00:30. > :00:31.country there could be transport and power disruption and with more rain

:00:32. > :00:38.in the forecast, further flooding where areas have flooded and some

:00:39. > :00:44.very strong winds and high seas. Southern coastal counties of England

:00:45. > :00:49.and Wales have been troubled, but Dorset sees three severe flood

:00:50. > :00:53.warnings, and more details on them on our own website. Still some very

:00:54. > :00:57.strong winds and heavy rain although it is set to ease off in the next

:00:58. > :01:01.hour. The strongest winds will be on the back edge of this band of more

:01:02. > :01:05.persistent rain which extends across much of England, Northern Ireland

:01:06. > :01:10.and increasingly so into Scotland, producing heavy snow across the

:01:11. > :01:13.Grampians. Gales inland, 50 or 60 mph, easing as the first batch of

:01:14. > :01:17.rain pushes through, but then the next major batch works through into

:01:18. > :01:23.tomorrow morning and this will start to pep up the rain and also bring

:01:24. > :01:29.strong winds. It is all linked into the stormy low-pressure. Strongest

:01:30. > :01:34.winds around the Channel coast. Heavy rain to start your morning

:01:35. > :01:37.rush hour in Wales, the south-west, and after early brightness.

:01:38. > :01:42.Widespread gales across the country, the winds around the coast may be up

:01:43. > :01:45.to 80 mph and they will strengthen in the west later. Temperatures

:01:46. > :01:50.fairly academic. One or two bright spells, but plenty of rain through

:01:51. > :01:53.the day, and the driest spot will be the north-west of Scotland. It stays

:01:54. > :01:58.windy tomorrow evening, so problems as we ended the day tomorrow. The

:01:59. > :02:01.winds eased down as we go through Wednesday into Thursday. Persistent

:02:02. > :02:08.rain in Orkney and Shetland but the rain turning less showery. Drier and

:02:09. > :02:11.brighter weather, lighter winds, but there is more rain in the south

:02:12. > :02:17.coast by the end of the day, and that is on top of already saturated

:02:18. > :02:20.ground, as much as an inch, Thursday night into brightly as the

:02:21. > :02:24.low-pressure pushes through and will only enhance the flooding risk

:02:25. > :02:28.further. It does clear with bright conditions when the day, but more

:02:29. > :02:40.stormy weather in the weekend. More details on the website.

:02:41. > :02:47.Aren't police meant to keep us safe? Isn't that what they do?!
