:00:00. > :00:00.morning. But from everyone on the late team here in Glasgow and around

:00:00. > :00:10.the country, Good evening. What an incredible day

:00:11. > :00:16.of weather it has been. We saw gusts of wind up to 108 mph in the West of

:00:17. > :00:19.Wales. The wind is easing down a notch or two but we still have a

:00:20. > :00:23.high-level amber warning from the Met Office for the strength of the

:00:24. > :00:27.wind over the next few hours over quite a large swathe of the UK.

:00:28. > :00:30.Northern Ireland, northern England and down across Wales, there is

:00:31. > :00:35.still potential for damaging and disruptive gusts of wind. This huge

:00:36. > :00:39.curl of cloud is bringing wet and windy weather across much of the

:00:40. > :00:43.West of Europe. It curls back across the north of the UK and that's the

:00:44. > :00:47.centre of the area of low pressure with the strongest winds just to the

:00:48. > :00:51.south of that. Let's focus on the winds over the next few hours. The

:00:52. > :00:56.ease down by a notch or two but still blustery conditions over most

:00:57. > :01:03.of Wales. High seas around the coast and gusting up to 70 mph. Easily

:01:04. > :01:06.around the 80 mph mark across much of northern England. Across the

:01:07. > :01:12.Pennines this evening and overnight, travelling will be treacherous. Wind

:01:13. > :01:16.and rain at lower levels will produce a lot of spray. You don't

:01:17. > :01:20.have to go to high up the Pennines to see that turned to snow. One way

:01:21. > :01:25.or another, further disruption to travel is more than likely. BBC

:01:26. > :01:29.local radio will keep you up-to-date on where you are and where you are

:01:30. > :01:34.trying to get to. The centre of the low system moves northwards. Pretty

:01:35. > :01:38.heavy snow developing across the hills of Scotland with several

:01:39. > :01:41.centimetres by dawn. A bit of snow for Northern Ireland and wintry

:01:42. > :01:46.showers drifting across the southern counties. A risk of ice with most

:01:47. > :01:49.races are seeing the temperatures a degree or so either side of

:01:50. > :01:55.freezing. A cold, windy start Thursday but I think it be a better

:01:56. > :01:59.day. No persistent rain to be seen. There should be some spells of

:02:00. > :02:05.sunshine for many of us, as well. Does it last until the end of the

:02:06. > :02:09.week? I'm afraid not. It goes downhill on Friday. This low

:02:10. > :02:15.pressure will head our way. Lots of isobars on the chart later in the

:02:16. > :02:19.day. Gusts of 60, 70 or 80 mph, with rain spreading northwards.

:02:20. > :02:22.Significant snow for parts of Northern Ireland and southern

:02:23. > :02:26.Scotland. Windy into the start of the weekend. Saturday has outbreaks

:02:27. > :02:29.of rain. On Sunday, something of a respite. The winds will ease down
