:00:00. > :00:00.it stays dry I will be surprised. Here is Nick with the national

:00:00. > :00:18.headlines. For large parts of Wales and England

:00:19. > :00:24.there was blue sky and warmth. Warmest day of the year, a clumsy

:00:25. > :00:34.way of saying the UK had the highest temperature of the year so far.

:00:35. > :00:37.There have been big contrasts. Some of that misty, murky weather to the

:00:38. > :00:41.south-west is advancing across other parts of England and Wales through

:00:42. > :00:45.the night. Ahead of that, where we have clear spells, central and

:00:46. > :00:49.eastern England there could be fog patches developing, outbreaks of

:00:50. > :00:54.rain to north-west Scotland feeding into Northern Ireland later in the

:00:55. > :00:57.night. The high pressure that kept us fine for a few days is being

:00:58. > :01:01.squeezed southwards on Thursday. That will for Scotland and Northern

:01:02. > :01:04.Ireland bring outbreaks of rain southwards during the day. Clearing

:01:05. > :01:09.into the afternoon to sunshine and showers. Some rain feeding into

:01:10. > :01:12.parts of north-west England, Cumbria and north and west of Wales.

:01:13. > :01:16.Increasing cloud to Wales, western England and the south of England

:01:17. > :01:19.too. A few breaks for the Midlands and eastern England to begin the

:01:20. > :01:23.day. Watch out for early fog patches. Any sunshine down the

:01:24. > :01:27.eastern side of England may not last too long as cloud increases and it

:01:28. > :01:30.will be cooler compared with today. Some heavier rain for a time in

:01:31. > :01:34.Scotland and Northern Ireland, but clearing to sunshine and showers as

:01:35. > :01:41.the afternoon goes on. Those most frequent in northern Scotland on a

:01:42. > :01:45.strengthening wind. Rain will lift in northern England and Wales. There

:01:46. > :01:49.will be spits and spots heading south-east, not into the far

:01:50. > :01:53.south-east until after dark as the weather front moves through,

:01:54. > :01:56.weakening as it does so. Thursday night into Friday morning there will

:01:57. > :02:01.be cooler air. Lower rural temperatures, a touch of frost

:02:02. > :02:07.around especially to Scotland. Sleet and snow showers to low levels

:02:08. > :02:12.especially to the north. Northern Scotland not fairing badly on

:02:13. > :02:16.Friday. Elsewhere, cloud and rain will push south-eastwards leading to

:02:17. > :02:19.an unsettled weekend. Windier on Sunday, it will feel cooler in the

:02:20. > :02:22.wind. There will be rain at times, not all the time. More about the

:02:23. > :02:26.weekend over the next couple of nights. What is for sure this

:02:27. > :02:42.weekend, after the weather contrast of today

:02:43. > :02:47.Hunger on a massive scale is looming across East Africa.
