:00:00. > 3:59:59outlook for the weekend is cool, but it will become less breezy and there

:00:00. > :00:00.will be sunny spells. it will become less breezy and there

:00:00. > :00:12.will be sunny spells. If that brief glimpse of the weather

:00:13. > :00:18.for the week ahead has left you thinking summer has deserted us,

:00:19. > :00:21.don't give up hope yet. We turn our attention to the western Atlantic,

:00:22. > :00:26.particularly this blob of cloud. This is a developing tropical storm.

:00:27. > :00:31.Over the next few days, it stays out in open waters, but strengthens and

:00:32. > :00:38.becomes Hurricane Gert. That could have an impact on our jet stream and

:00:39. > :00:47.that could turn our weather on its head again, which will probably come

:00:48. > :00:54.as welcome news to some. Today, Kent had the warmest day of the month so

:00:55. > :00:58.far, pretty unusual for August. It is still going to be fairly cool,

:00:59. > :01:02.particularly later in the week. It will be hit and miss with the

:01:03. > :01:09.showers. The heaviest rain will be by night. We could see a few lively

:01:10. > :01:15.bursts of rain pushed across southern England and even the odd

:01:16. > :01:20.rumble of thunder in the south-east. Temperatures will not drop away too

:01:21. > :01:25.much. Rain for the early risers across the far south-east of

:01:26. > :01:30.England. The brain lingers in Shetland until lunchtime. Scotland

:01:31. > :01:38.and Northern Ireland are most likely to see a shower. The Midlands, Wales

:01:39. > :01:44.and Southern Ireland are more likely to see red. In the sunshine, it will

:01:45. > :01:48.feel pleasantly warm. The ridge of high pressure will build, and

:01:49. > :01:52.another area of low pressure is pushing into the West. If you are on

:01:53. > :01:58.holiday in the west of the country, make the most of the mornings. Rain

:01:59. > :02:06.in Northern Ireland will be with you in the morning rush-hour. Much of

:02:07. > :02:18.England, Wales and eastern Scotland will be dry. We will see the rain by

:02:19. > :02:23.night, not by date. By Thursday, it is back to sunshine and showers once

:02:24. > :02:27.more. In the sunshine, it will feel pleasant enough. But it feels colder

:02:28. > :02:30.on Friday. The winds Phone went,

:02:31. > :02:32.and it was my sister, Jane, and she said, "It's looking quite

:02:33. > :02:36.serious, really serious." A short while ago,

:02:37. > :02:37.Buckingham Palace confirmed the death of Diana,

:02:38. > :02:40.Princess of Wales. because of the tears that

:02:41. > :02:44.they'd just wiped away. My sister's dying has provoked

:02:45. > :02:46.this national, It was one of the hardest things

:02:47. > :02:51.I've ever done was that walk. I felt like she was almost

:02:52. > :02:53.walking along beside us, Cath! You're a tough woman to find.

:02:54. > :03:04.I don't want to talk to you. Daddy! I know I've screwed things up

:03:05. > :03:07.in the past. I heard she went to New Zealand,

:03:08. > :03:13.married some farmer type. I need this whole thing to be

:03:14. > :03:17.a new start for us.
