0:00:05 > 0:00:10Hello. If you've written off this week's weather as mild, not worth

0:00:10 > 0:00:13watching too closely, then think again. This swirl of cloud in the

0:00:13 > 0:00:17Atlantic is going to be a game changer. The Met Office name this

0:00:17 > 0:00:20storm Caroline today, to raise awareness of the impact the wind

0:00:20 > 0:00:23will have particularly on Scotland on Thursday. Behind it, it turns

0:00:23 > 0:00:26colder for all of us with snow showers around, icy conditions too.

0:00:26 > 0:00:31That's all to come. We'll get to that. Right now for the rest of the

0:00:31 > 0:00:36night, the breeds is picking up. -- breeze is picking up. Plenty of

0:00:36 > 0:00:41cloud, damp and drizzly, coasts and hills of Wales and western England.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44More substantial rain into north-west Scotland. 10 degrees in

0:00:44 > 0:00:48Stornoway. This mild flow tomorrow. The wind is continuing to pick up. A

0:00:48 > 0:00:53lot of cloud around. Brighter breaks in the east. Outbreaks of rain into

0:00:53 > 0:00:56north-west England, North Wales in the afternoon. From the word go in

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Northern Ireland, western Scotland, it turns wetter. Some spots in

0:00:59 > 0:01:03Eastern Scotland staying dry. Double figure temperatures almost across

0:01:03 > 0:01:08the board. The wind continuing to strengthen. Wednesday evening, gales

0:01:08 > 0:01:10develop around Irish Sea coasts, part of Northern Ireland and

0:01:10 > 0:01:14Scotland. Worse to come as we go into Thursday. Storm Caroline passes

0:01:14 > 0:01:18just to the north of Scotland. But it is Scotland closest to it. It's

0:01:18 > 0:01:25here we could see gusts of 80mph. Maybe high with disruptive winds

0:01:25 > 0:01:27across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England during

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Thursday. Windy across the board though. Rain clearing south-east

0:01:30 > 0:01:35England. Sunshine follows. Some showers to the north-west.

0:01:35 > 0:01:40Progressively colder air sinking south. In the winds we could see

0:01:40 > 0:01:44blizzards developing across parts of northern Scotland. Storm Caroline

0:01:44 > 0:01:47heads into Scandinavia on Friday. Look at the flow of air from the

0:01:47 > 0:01:51Arctic on strong to gale-force winds. It's going to feel quite

0:01:51 > 0:01:54bitter into Friday. There will be wintry weather around to start the

0:01:54 > 0:01:57day with snow showers, affecting parts of northern and western

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Scotland. Northern Ireland, Wales and western England. Away from here

0:02:00 > 0:02:05though, a lot of dry and sunnier weather to come. But sunshine or

0:02:05 > 0:02:08wintry showers, it will feel bitter, particularly if you factor in the

0:02:08 > 0:02:13wind. It will feel colder than the thermometer suggests, at or below

0:02:13 > 0:02:17freezing and frosty and icy on Friday night. Significant changes in

0:02:17 > 0:02:21our weather ahead. First with storm Caroline. Then much colder for all

0:02:21 > 0:02:29of us. There are Met Office weather warnings in force
