0:00:02 > 0:00:03cold as we head into the new weekend. Plenty of sunshine around,

0:00:03 > 0:00:04light wind and a return

0:00:05 > 0:00:10light wind and a return to frost.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14Good evening. A pretty miserable start to Monday with a blanket of

0:00:14 > 0:00:17cloud and rain sweeping steadily east. A brief lull behind for a

0:00:17 > 0:00:22time, but then take a look at the showers piling in and turning

0:00:22 > 0:00:25increasingly wintry as the day went on. That is because of the cold air

0:00:25 > 0:00:30that is descending right across the country as we speak. So, it looks

0:00:30 > 0:00:34likely to stay with us for the next few days and will continue to see

0:00:34 > 0:00:36some showers. Through the night across England and Wales, chiefly

0:00:36 > 0:00:41rain. Further north and west, a mixture of rain, sleet and snow,

0:00:41 > 0:00:45with temperatures here falling below freezing we could see icy surfaces

0:00:45 > 0:00:54around first

0:00:54 > 0:00:56around first thing in the morning. Tricky driving conditions, I

0:00:56 > 0:00:58suspect, first thing across Scotland in particular, with temperatures

0:00:58 > 0:01:01really struggling. Yes, we will see frequent snow showers even at lower

0:01:01 > 0:01:03levels as well. Same for Northern Ireland and north-west England, with

0:01:03 > 0:01:05a scattering of showers into North West Wales as well. Some showers of

0:01:05 > 0:01:08wet snow for the Midlands, for Lincolnshire and the south-west

0:01:08 > 0:01:11corner it will be largely dry with some sunshine. Through the Bristol

0:01:11 > 0:01:15Channel and to the south-west, the showers will be of rain. As you go

0:01:15 > 0:01:18through the day, a pretty stiff north-westerly wind will drive the

0:01:18 > 0:01:23showers further inland. We will start to see them turning to wet

0:01:23 > 0:01:27snow, even to higher ground across the Downs and the Chilterns. The

0:01:27 > 0:01:31snow showers are frequent and factor in the strength of the wind and it

0:01:31 > 0:01:35will feel better on those exposed west facing coasts. As we go into

0:01:35 > 0:01:39Wednesday it will be similar style to the day. Showers will become

0:01:39 > 0:01:42lighter and fewer in nature as we go through the afternoon. Still wintry

0:01:42 > 0:01:45showers to the north-west and a greater chance of seeing some

0:01:45 > 0:01:55sunshine on Wednesday. Still not particularly. Then we see a change

0:01:55 > 0:01:58through Wednesday night, into the early hours of Thursday morning. A

0:01:58 > 0:02:00vigorous area of low pressure will move in. To the southern flank we

0:02:00 > 0:02:03will see gales, if not severe gales. On the northern edge we could see

0:02:03 > 0:02:06some significant snow across southern and central areas of

0:02:06 > 0:02:10Scotland. Certainly want to keep a close eye on. First thing on

0:02:10 > 0:02:14Thursday we are likely to see severe gales. There will be some snow,

0:02:14 > 0:02:20which could cause some disruption, particularly in Scotland. The good

0:02:20 > 0:02:24thing is that this is rattling through at quite a pace. Generally,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27it will be an improving picture with some sunny spells coming through.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Still windy, with a few
