0:00:00 > 0:00:02had through the weekend, particularly into next week. More

0:00:02 > 0:00:05particularly into next week. More details in a national forecast with

0:00:05 > 0:00:11Louise Lear.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Good evening. We've seen some record-breaking cold this winter in

0:00:15 > 0:00:18North America but that changed on Wednesday, we had some

0:00:18 > 0:00:23record-breaking heat. The reason being a warm, moist air coming up

0:00:23 > 0:00:26through the Gulf of Mexico, right across the East Coast, so

0:00:26 > 0:00:30temperatures for New York City soared on Wednesday. Highs of 26

0:00:30 > 0:00:35degrees, the warmest late February day for over 88 years. To add insult

0:00:35 > 0:00:38to injury lets move closer to home across the pond and talk about how

0:00:38 > 0:00:43cold it is going to be for us over the next few days. Still under the

0:00:43 > 0:00:47influence of that high-pressure, winds and air coming from Siberia,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50bitterly cold across Europe. As we head into next week it's going to

0:00:50 > 0:00:55get colder still for us across the UK, bitterly cold winds, widespread

0:00:55 > 0:01:00hard frosts and yes, even the chance of some snow. Let's get closer to

0:01:00 > 0:01:05home to the here and now. Through tonight it looks as though it will

0:01:05 > 0:01:09be a quiet end to the day with clear skies. Temperatures are likely to

0:01:09 > 0:01:13fall away with the exception of cloud through Northern Ireland and

0:01:13 > 0:01:17western Scotland so here we keep the Greens, the blues denoting a

0:01:17 > 0:01:20widespread frost right across the country. A cold start for money.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24With a little more cloud just spilling in off the North Sea we

0:01:24 > 0:01:27could have one or two isolated showers here first thing. A little

0:01:27 > 0:01:31bit more cloud through central and eastern England. We keep the crowd

0:01:31 > 0:01:35in Northern Ireland. Sandwiched in between the two, it's a sandwich of

0:01:35 > 0:01:43sunshine. It will feel quite chilly, 5-7 at the very best. As we move out

0:01:43 > 0:01:47of Friday we still have the area of high pressure that's going to be

0:01:47 > 0:01:50influencing the story for quite some time. Sitting across Scandinavia, so

0:01:50 > 0:01:54the cold air starting to push around that high all the way across dry

0:01:54 > 0:01:57continental Europe, so it's not going to warm up, so that means on

0:01:57 > 0:02:03the exposed these sides it's going to feel chilly. Lots of sunshine to

0:02:03 > 0:02:06start the weekend after a frosty start, not a bad story. Quite

0:02:06 > 0:02:10acquired story. Providing you have a few extra layers on it should not be

0:02:10 > 0:02:16too bad with the sunshine coming through, 4-7 across the country. It

0:02:16 > 0:02:20will be a case of spot the difference on Sunday, really. Dry,

0:02:20 > 0:02:24settled, sunny but cold, colder still on Monday. Through the latter

0:02:24 > 0:02:27stages of Monday there's a potential for snow showers. The snow showers

0:02:27 > 0:02:31look likely to be more widespread as we go from Tuesday
