0:19:06 > 0:19:08Here's their story in their own words.
0:19:08 > 0:19:10I'm Katie Clarke from Halifax, West Yorkshire.
0:19:10 > 0:19:11Good morning!
0:19:11 > 0:19:12We have had people leaving donations.
0:19:12 > 0:19:15Thanks very much, that's great, and they are clearly marked.
0:19:15 > 0:19:18So we've filled our van up with mats, sleeping bags,
0:19:18 > 0:19:19blankets, hats, socks, gloves.
0:19:19 > 0:19:22Bye, everyone!
0:19:22 > 0:19:23My name's Andy Clarke.
0:19:23 > 0:19:26There are some people who say that they should stay
0:19:26 > 0:19:30where they are and try to manage it within their countries.
0:19:30 > 0:19:33I mean, my own personal view is that you don't move
0:19:33 > 0:19:36away from your family of origin, your friends of origin,
0:19:36 > 0:19:45your culture, your religion, your home, everything,
0:19:45 > 0:19:47and put yourself into the most precarious positions,
0:19:47 > 0:19:59if there is not an extremely good, valid reason for doing that.
0:19:59 > 0:20:00Nice to meet you.
0:20:00 > 0:20:02A lot of the individuals that we speak to are
0:20:02 > 0:20:03professional people.
0:20:03 > 0:20:06Unfortunately, they have felt that their lives are in danger,
0:20:06 > 0:20:10and that's why they've had to move.
0:20:10 > 0:20:11I'm Nikki.
0:20:11 > 0:20:14I think they are probably just trying to keep themselves busy,
0:20:14 > 0:20:15aren't they, playing football.
0:20:15 > 0:20:18We met some guys who really kindly took us to show
0:20:18 > 0:20:19where they had been living.
0:20:19 > 0:20:22So we followed them down this little path that started to get
0:20:22 > 0:20:27muddier and muddier.
0:20:27 > 0:20:29It looks like chaos, doesn't it?
0:20:29 > 0:20:32It's just really, really shocking, and it's really sad that anybody
0:20:32 > 0:20:34has to live like that.
0:20:34 > 0:20:35We can't go back.
0:20:35 > 0:20:38In my country, there is a very dangerous guy.
0:20:38 > 0:20:39That is why we live here.
0:20:39 > 0:20:40Here is safe.
0:20:40 > 0:20:46I know it is not a good life, but we are safe.
0:20:46 > 0:20:48Seeing the living conditions and the desperation,
0:20:48 > 0:20:51yeah, things were shocking, but it was also really quite,
0:20:51 > 0:21:02quite nice to have that opportunity to talk to them.
0:21:02 > 0:21:04Queen Elizabeth has been attending the traditional Christmas Day
0:21:04 > 0:21:07service along with other members of the royal family,
0:21:07 > 0:21:09including Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle.
0:21:09 > 0:21:12In her Christmas Day broadcast the Queen paid tribute to the cities
0:21:12 > 0:21:15of Manchester and London, for the way in which they dealt
0:21:15 > 0:21:16with this year's terrorist attacks.
0:21:16 > 0:21:22Our royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell has more.
0:21:22 > 0:21:25It's a day for family, with its own established pattern.
0:21:25 > 0:21:27For the Royal Family, that means a visit to church,
0:21:27 > 0:21:28led by the Queen.
0:21:28 > 0:21:31And there, very much at home already, the Royal Family's
0:21:31 > 0:21:32soon-to-be newest member, Meghan Markle.
0:21:32 > 0:21:34Alert to everything that was going on,
0:21:34 > 0:21:40and waiting for her cue in terms of royal protocol.
0:21:40 > 0:21:42A neat curtsey, as the Queen left by car.
0:21:42 > 0:21:46And then walking across to speak to members of the crowd who had
0:21:46 > 0:21:48been hoping to meet her, before lunch, and then
0:21:48 > 0:21:51the Queen's Christmas broadcast.
0:21:51 > 0:21:52# God save the Queen...#
0:21:52 > 0:21:54The central message of this year's
0:21:54 > 0:21:58broadcast was one of solidarity with two British cities.
0:21:58 > 0:22:00This Christmas, I think of London and Manchester,
0:22:00 > 0:22:03whose powerful identities shone through over the past 12 months
0:22:03 > 0:22:10in the face of appalling attacks.
0:22:10 > 0:22:13The Queen said it had been a privilege to witness
0:22:13 > 0:22:15the extraordinary bravery of young people injured
0:22:15 > 0:22:17in the Manchester attack.
0:22:17 > 0:22:18Very wicked.
0:22:19 > 0:22:20Mmm.
0:22:20 > 0:22:22To target that sort of thing.
0:22:22 > 0:22:23Yeah.
0:22:23 > 0:22:25Yeah, it's...
0:22:25 > 0:22:27She spoke, too, about what she called the "sheer
0:22:27 > 0:22:32awfulness" of the Grenfell Tower fire.
0:22:32 > 0:22:35Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who died,
0:22:35 > 0:22:36and those who lost so much.
0:22:36 > 0:22:39And we are indebted to members of the emergency services,
0:22:39 > 0:22:42who risked their own lives this past year saving others.
0:22:42 > 0:22:45Television has made it possible for many of you to see me
0:22:45 > 0:22:56in your homes on Christmas Day...
0:22:56 > 0:22:58And there were personal touches.
0:22:58 > 0:23:02The Queen recalled that it's 60 years since she delivered the first
0:23:02 > 0:23:03live Christmas Day TV broadcast.
0:23:03 > 0:23:05And that is how I imagine you now...
0:23:05 > 0:23:08Six decades on, the presenter has evolved somewhat.
0:23:08 > 0:23:11And it's 70 years since she and the Duke of Edinburgh were married.
0:23:11 > 0:23:13He retired from solo duties this year, but...
0:23:13 > 0:23:17I know his support and unique sense of humour will remain as strong
0:23:17 > 0:23:20as ever, as we enjoy spending time this Christmas with our family,
0:23:20 > 0:23:31and look forward to welcoming new members into it next year.
0:23:31 > 0:23:33A Christmas message which acknowledges the passage
0:23:33 > 0:23:35of time, but which reminds us that more
0:23:35 > 0:23:38than six decades now after she came to the throne,
0:23:38 > 0:23:41the Queen remains strongly committed to her role as head of state.
0:23:41 > 0:23:50Nicholas Witchell, BBC News, at Buckingham Palace.
0:23:50 > 0:23:52If you've enjoyed a day of festive excess -
0:23:52 > 0:23:54eating and drinking a little too much -
0:23:55 > 0:23:58perhaps the most you want to do to exert yourself is to try
0:23:58 > 0:24:00and reach for the remote control.
0:24:00 > 0:24:02So spare a thought for the competitors
0:24:02 > 0:24:03of the Wingsuit Flying World Cup.
0:24:03 > 0:24:06They spent most of their Christmas jumping out of planes or balloons.
0:24:06 > 0:24:09The event took place in Jinngu in Yunnan province,
0:24:09 > 0:24:12as the BBC's Tim Allman explains.
0:24:15 > 0:24:23You know what they say. What goes up must come down. A principal they
0:24:23 > 0:24:28understand all too well that the Wingsuit Flying World Cup. --
0:24:28 > 0:24:32principle. Teams from around the globe competing in this extreme and
0:24:32 > 0:24:37hair raising sport. TRANSLATION:I travelled more than 400 kilometres
0:24:37 > 0:24:42to see this. We arrived here early in the morning, just to watch the
0:24:42 > 0:24:47wing suit flying show. It is spectacular! You can say that again.
0:24:47 > 0:24:55A couple of skydivers perform a 360 degrees rotating nosedive. While
0:24:55 > 0:25:00others piggybacked from their teammates. Not everybody was happy
0:25:00 > 0:25:06with how things turned out. TRANSLATION:I think our performance
0:25:06 > 0:25:09this time didn't reflect our real strength. We will get to our best
0:25:09 > 0:25:13through regular competition. I have we perform better next time.The
0:25:13 > 0:25:17Chinese team finished third overall, behind the winds France and the
0:25:17 > 0:25:22United States, who came second. It is a non-profit event, and the local
0:25:22 > 0:25:27school received a cheque worth more than $30,000. So some charitable
0:25:27 > 0:25:32spirit, combined with a little heart stopping terror. How can you get
0:25:32 > 0:25:38more festive than that?
0:25:38 > 0:25:41A more sedate sport, cricket, and the Boxing Day test between
0:25:41 > 0:25:45Australia and England is under way in England. England are just paying
0:25:45 > 0:25:49-- playing for pride, having already lost the Ashes. Australia have
0:25:49 > 0:25:53elected to bat on what is proving a flat wicket. Approaching lunch they
0:25:53 > 0:25:58are and 92. -- they are on.
0:25:58 > 0:26:02Don't forget you can get in touch with me and some of the team
