:01:40. > :01:43.What they need to do is there needs to be mediation,
:01:44. > :01:45.and what I'd ask is that Stuart Poppum, who's
:01:46. > :01:48.the chairman of the RNLI UK, comes on a plane and comes
:01:49. > :01:51.to Jersey, meets with our Chief Minister's Department,

:05:45. > :05:46.But they hope more will, as it can reduce the chance
:05:47. > :05:51.Bowel cancer doesn't develop from nothing.
:05:52. > :05:54.The first thing people develop are small lesions called polyps,
:05:55. > :05:57.and these are small growths within the bowel wall that
:05:58. > :06:04.Some of these polyps over a series of seven to ten years can go
:06:05. > :06:08.With the bowel cancer screening, we pick these polyps up,
:06:09. > :06:11.remove them and therefore prevent them from growing and
:06:12. > :06:16.Dr Duku also says diet and lifestyle changes can help,
:06:17. > :06:19.and islanders must see their doctor if they have any symptoms,
:06:20. > :06:28.He's now been given the all-clear, but is warning others.
:06:29. > :06:34.And especially men don't talk about it, so now I definitely talk
:06:35. > :06:38.about it and tell people if you've had the letter, go down and get seen
:06:39. > :06:43.If you suspect anything, just do it, because otherwise I don't know
:06:44. > :06:52.if I would be here today, that's for sure.
:06:53. > :06:55.They describe themselves as bonkers and are living up to their name.
:06:56. > :06:58.A group of volunteers is steadily transforming a neglected

:07:11. > :07:15.Mike Wilkins went to see how things were progressing.
:07:16. > :07:18.Low tide and an opportunity to drill.
:07:19. > :07:20.These men are putting right what they feel has
:07:21. > :07:38.The quality before has been very poor and everything holding the
:07:39. > :07:45.whole of the concrete together has been a very small, mild steel bar
:07:46. > :07:50.like this. We've now used this 30 millimetres stainless steel bar to
:07:51. > :07:58.actually anchor into the Guernsey granite, and then on top of that, a
:07:59. > :07:59.60 millimetres steel bar to hold the concrete together.
:08:00. > :08:01.It won't be long before this horseshoe pool
:08:02. > :08:05.And around the corner, the gents' pool is next in line
:08:06. > :08:10.The plan is to repair storm-damaged walls,
:08:11. > :08:13.install railings and reinstate the diving boards.
:08:14. > :08:16.One of those behind the project says he's not willing to put up
:08:17. > :08:20.with public areas being allowed to fall into disrepair.
:08:21. > :08:29.There's a pride in the place now and there's the broken window syndrome,
:08:30. > :08:33.that if you don't fix the door, another will get smashed. The policy
:08:34. > :08:36.of managing decline is not something we are willing to tolerate.
:08:37. > :08:39.This project is funded by generous donations and a lot of volunteers.
:08:40. > :08:41.The States says whilst it would like to help,
:08:42. > :08:54.We have a capital project of ?250,000 to do sea defences, as well
:08:55. > :08:57.as the obligation to maintain the breakwaters, so this is many
:08:58. > :09:02.hundreds of thousands of pounds we spend the business as usual. This is
:09:03. > :09:05.a luxury, really, for the community and the environment destruction.
:09:06. > :09:06.It's something with very much like to do but we simply don't have the
:09:07. > :09:08.funding to do. This area of St Peter Port is coming
:09:09. > :09:11.alive with new restaurants and apartments, and soon the pools
:09:12. > :09:14.will be another reason to venture Sport, and in football,
:09:15. > :09:21.Guernsey FC haven't done enough They were beaten 3-2
:09:22. > :09:26.by mid-table Horsham A win by Chatham Town means
:09:27. > :09:31.the Green Lions must wait at least another week to guarantee safety
:09:32. > :09:38.in Ryman League Division One South. And in rugby, Guernsey Raiders lost
:09:39. > :09:42.27-17 away to Guildford, while Jersey Reds can no longer make
:09:43. > :09:46.it into the Championship play-offs. They suffered a 24-20 defeat
:09:47. > :09:50.against Doncaster Knights at the weekend, their first loss
:09:51. > :09:55.since New Year's Day. Plenty of sunshine, the smell
:09:56. > :10:00.of barbecues in the air and lots of lily-white legs
:10:01. > :10:03.making an appearance. Summer is on the way but March
:10:04. > :10:07.wasn't too bad either. Holly Green has the facts
:10:08. > :10:19.and figures, as well It was a really good March. The
:10:20. > :10:23.third warmest on record and the warmest since 1957. A decent weekend
:10:24. > :10:29.and a decent picture through today as well. Not as warm as through the
:10:30. > :10:34.weekend. We had 21.5 degrees on Jersey on Saturday. Today, more like
:10:35. > :10:40.15, but plenty of sunshine around and nothing to complain about. We
:10:41. > :10:43.hang onto cooler field this week. Some sunshine around at times and
:10:44. > :10:49.there will be a bit of rain but not too much, with a decent amount of
:10:50. > :10:54.dry weather. High pressure sitting just the Wester Ross. It's there at
:10:55. > :11:00.the moment and stays with us through tomorrow. -- the of us. A weak
:11:01. > :11:05.weather front moving towards us, which could bring some rain for a
:11:06. > :11:10.time, perhaps. Mostly dry and cloudy with a few showers but not too many
:11:11. > :11:14.of those. Into Good Friday, a weak weather front heads our way in the
:11:15. > :11:21.evening but it is a pretty weak affair. Through the night tonight,
:11:22. > :11:25.clear spells around with fairly light winds. A fairly dry night and
:11:26. > :11:30.turning rather chilly. Temperatures not looking that low but we could
:11:31. > :11:34.see a touch of ground frost here and there as we push into tomorrow
:11:35. > :11:38.morning with those clear skies. Light winds and sunshine around with
:11:39. > :11:42.some fairweather cloud coming and going. But it should stay dry with
:11:43. > :11:46.temperatures creeping into the low teens. But not comparing to the
:11:47. > :11:54.values we saw at the weekend. A different feel to things. These are
:11:55. > :11:58.the high water times. The waves are not very big for the surfers.
:11:59. > :12:04.Generally clean but becoming choppy if the wind picks up. Out at sea,
:12:05. > :12:10.the winds are north to north-easterly and back to north to
:12:11. > :12:15.north-westerly. Good visibility. This is how is shaping up over the
:12:16. > :12:19.coming days. Not looking too bad. Tomorrow, some of the best of the
:12:20. > :12:23.sunshine. The bulk of Wednesday looking dry. We could see a touch of
:12:24. > :12:28.rain towards the tail end of the day. Mostly dry on Thursday and then
:12:29. > :12:33.on Friday, again, the bulk of the day is dry but we could see a bit of
:12:34. > :12:38.rain later in the day as a weather front heads our way. For the
:12:39. > :12:41.all-important Easter weekend, we will hang onto this cooler field,
:12:42. > :12:44.with a few showers, but hopefully not too many, but a reasonable
:12:45. > :12:55.weekend. Before we go, a reminder of our top
:12:56. > :13:01.story. Lives could be at risk around St Helier if the local lifeboat crew
:13:02. > :13:03.isn't reinstated, according to members of the RNLI. I will be back
:13:04. > :13:11.later at 8pm and then 10:25pm. Still to come in tonight's
:13:12. > :13:25.programme, all the sport with Natalie, including Gareth Bale,
:13:26. > :13:27.Delli Alli and now Exeter's Ollie Watkins - the new
:13:28. > :13:29.young Footballer of the Year. And temperatures exceeded 20 degrees
:13:30. > :13:33.for some of us over the weekend. A bit of a drop in those
:13:34. > :13:35.values for today though, but find out how it's looking
:13:36. > :13:38.as we head towards the Easter weekend a bit later
:13:39. > :13:46.on in the programme. Mention the Freemasons and you might
:13:47. > :13:49.be forgiven for thinking of rituals, But in their 300th anniversary year,
:13:50. > :13:58.they want to dispel that myth. Well, The Grand Masters
:13:59. > :14:03.of Freemasonry in Torbay were keen to show us why they're a force
:14:04. > :14:06.for good, and as John Ayres reports, the secrecy and suspicion
:14:07. > :14:14.is actually more about discretion. Behind closed doors,
:14:15. > :14:16.this ceremony is derived from the biblical story
:14:17. > :14:20.of King Solomon's Temple, but the secrecy didn't begin
:14:21. > :14:22.until the Second World War. It came about because Masons
:14:23. > :14:26.were persecuted by the Nazis. These days, the Masons are much more
:14:27. > :14:30.open about what they do. Celebrating 300 years, today
:14:31. > :14:33.they unveiled their banner which will pass through their eight
:14:34. > :14:35.provinces in the south-west The general public are curious,
:14:36. > :14:40.sometimes suspicious, so the Masons are forever having
:14:41. > :14:44.to answer questions. It's difficult to
:14:45. > :14:50.explain, but it's about the principles of helping others
:14:51. > :14:54.and looking after people discreetly. We've got a circle of
:14:55. > :14:57.friends within my lodge. When we meet, the ladies then
:14:58. > :15:00.go out for a meal as well, so there's that side of it as well,
:15:01. > :15:04.so the ladies have got know each other as well and we've got some
:15:05. > :15:07.friendships which have gone back, you know, 20 and 25 years that
:15:08. > :15:10.have been in and around There are female Masons but they're
:15:11. > :15:15.a separate organisation. The handshake is never to be
:15:16. > :15:18.used outside the lodge. Today, they're announcing
:15:19. > :15:24.first aid kits for village halls around Devon, but
:15:25. > :15:26.what are these weird The whole point of this initiation
:15:27. > :15:32.where you roll up one trouser leg is to prove that I'm male,
:15:33. > :15:36.that I'm not shackled by chains, ie I'm not a slave,
:15:37. > :15:40.and that I come poor and penniless - But for all the pomp
:15:41. > :15:45.and charity work, there's one thing that people
:15:46. > :15:47.always feel about Masons. They're worried that many
:15:48. > :15:50.are senior people in public life and they might use their contacts
:15:51. > :15:54.in an inappropriate way. We do not like it when we hear this,
:15:55. > :15:57.the thought of people If they do, they will be
:15:58. > :16:03.severely disciplined. If we get to hear of it,
:16:04. > :16:06.they will be disciplined and possibly have to leave our order
:16:07. > :16:09.if that was the case. Freemasons, we are told, come
:16:10. > :16:12.from all walks of life, so long as they meet the criteria
:16:13. > :16:20.of being a good person. A family from Devon
:16:21. > :16:23.is offering a ?500 reward He's called Jeremy and he's brought
:16:24. > :16:28.joy and comfort to the Rayer family as the father's
:16:29. > :16:30.been battling cancer. Jeremy, a 14-year-old Exmoor
:16:31. > :16:33.cross, hasn't been seen And it's not the first
:16:34. > :16:37.time he's gone missing, the 14-year-old Exmoor cross
:16:38. > :16:48.has been seen. To not have any information or any
:16:49. > :16:54.sightings for two weeks is a really long period of time and we're
:16:55. > :16:58.worried that he has been taken and he may have been moved
:16:59. > :17:01.quite a considerable way and he may have been sold on as
:17:02. > :17:06.well, so we're asking for people all over the south-west
:17:07. > :17:08.to keep an eye out and let us know if they think
:17:09. > :17:11.they've seen Jeremy. He's been with the people4ponies
:17:12. > :17:15.charity since he was a foal. They lend him out to
:17:16. > :17:17.families and he's been He such a big part of the family
:17:18. > :17:23.and to have no idea where he is, what happened to him,
:17:24. > :17:26.we don't know if he's hurt We just don't know where
:17:27. > :17:30.he is and we're all just gutted. His disappearance couldn't have
:17:31. > :17:33.come at a worse time. Over a year ago, my husband
:17:34. > :17:37.was diagnosed with cancer myeloma, which is a bone marrow cancer
:17:38. > :17:40.and a tumour snapped a bone in his spine so he now
:17:41. > :17:43.uses crutches. And having Jeremy has just given me
:17:44. > :17:48.real comfort that I can go out and spend time with him
:17:49. > :17:52.and have a little bit of normality in what's been a really,
:17:53. > :17:54.really stressful time I don't know, I don't know how
:17:55. > :18:04.we're copying, really. The Rayers describe Jeremy
:18:05. > :18:07.as a real character, cheeky and lovable, but the charity says
:18:08. > :18:10.he'll be very anxious. He does have separation
:18:11. > :18:12.anxiety, he doesn't like We don't know if he
:18:13. > :18:18.could turn up at a market, he could be sold on,
:18:19. > :18:21.we don't know if he's being looked We just really want to
:18:22. > :18:24.know where Jeremy is. Jeremy disappeared from
:18:25. > :18:28.the Morwenstow welcome area on the He's 12 hands, brown
:18:29. > :18:34.with a black mane and tail. A ?500 reward has been offered
:18:35. > :18:44.to help bring Jeremy home. It's time for the sport now
:18:45. > :18:47.and Natalie's here with some is following in some
:18:48. > :18:54.very illustrious footsteps. He's been named as the EFL's
:18:55. > :18:57.Young Player of the Year - a title Gareth Bale and Delli Ali
:18:58. > :19:00.have held in the past. The 21-year-old forward has helped
:19:01. > :19:03.Exeter into the play off zone You know, like I said,
:19:04. > :19:14.quite a few players have won this award,
:19:15. > :19:16.you know, so hopefully I can
:19:17. > :19:21.follow in their footsteps. But even the new Young Player
:19:22. > :19:24.of the Year couldn't stop Exeter slipping to a surprise defeat
:19:25. > :19:26.at St James Park. who could be just one win
:19:27. > :19:31.away from promotion. This was supposed to
:19:32. > :19:37.be straightforward. Crawley had nothing to play
:19:38. > :19:40.for and Argyle had the best Crawley took the lead,
:19:41. > :19:48.and wasn't he happy about it? The home side stayed happy
:19:49. > :19:50.into the second half Ryan Taylor linked
:19:51. > :19:54.with Antoni Sarcevic The penalty decision
:19:55. > :19:59.quickly changed the mood. Graham Carey has been in top
:20:00. > :20:02.form of late and the Irishman put Argyle
:20:03. > :20:06.level from the spot. The pilgrims had only won twice
:20:07. > :20:08.this season after conceding the first goal and when
:20:09. > :20:11.James Collins was sent off with ten minutes left,
:20:12. > :20:14.they seized their chance. Well into stoppage

:20:18. > :20:20.lashed home the winner to send the 1600 travelling
:20:21. > :20:24.supporters into a frenzy. Another big step
:20:25. > :20:27.closer to League One. Back in Devon, traffic congestion
:20:28. > :20:30.may have delayed the start of Exeter City's match with Newport,
:20:31. > :20:34.but Tom Owen-Evans soon found himself in acres of space before
:20:35. > :20:38.unleashing an unstoppable shot Then, as City went in search
:20:39. > :20:42.of a reply, the congestion returned, this time,
:20:43. > :20:46.in Newport's penalty area. Nine players, including
:20:47. > :20:49.the goalkeeper, held firm They tried to go through
:20:50. > :20:55.and then go over, However, with many of the teams
:20:56. > :21:00.around them also losing, this hasn't been too damaging
:21:01. > :21:05.to their play-off hopes. It does mean Yeovil
:21:06. > :21:08.are now only seven points Francois Zoko's eighth
:21:09. > :21:11.goal of the season, the only highlight for
:21:12. > :21:12.the Glovers in their 3-1
:21:13. > :21:20.defeat against Portsmouth. Here's how things stand
:21:21. > :21:21.for our rugby teams. Exeter Chiefs have guaranteed
:21:22. > :21:24.themselves a place in the Premiership play off
:21:25. > :21:27.semifinals after another win. Sadly the Cornish Pirates and Jersey
:21:28. > :21:32.won't be in the Championship play-offs after they both
:21:33. > :21:34.lost at the weekend. Exeter are still in second
:21:35. > :21:37.after a nail-biting encounter in a game in which the lead
:21:38. > :21:41.changed hands five times. Five tries did the job and it
:21:42. > :21:45.finished 38-34 ensuring It was a tough old game and Bristol
:21:46. > :21:50.almost came away with the win. The Chiefs next game
:21:51. > :21:54.is against Harlequins, Their destiny is now firmly
:21:55. > :21:57.in their own hands with just three rounds
:21:58. > :22:01.of battle remaining. Plymouth Leander are celebrating
:22:02. > :22:04.after finishing second in the National Arena League Cup
:22:05. > :22:08.Final yesterday. They were ranked fourth
:22:09. > :22:10.going into the competition There were some fine performances
:22:11. > :22:15.in this team event with several individual victories,
:22:16. > :22:16.including Laura Stephens, Leander used the competition
:22:17. > :22:22.as race practice for the British Swimming Championships
:22:23. > :22:24.which are being held A charity rugby match is taking
:22:25. > :22:38.place at the end of April in St Ives It's been organised
:22:39. > :22:42.by Anthony Stevens - with a V - and will raise money for Parkinsons
:22:43. > :22:46.in memory of his father He's not too worried about how
:22:47. > :22:50.good a player you are, We want to arrange a side
:22:51. > :22:56.like we did years ago where every member of the side is a Stevens,
:22:57. > :22:59.spelt the right way. We need 18, 20 minimum
:23:00. > :23:02.because nobody's going We're all a little bit older
:23:03. > :23:07.in the tooth these days, so ten minutes on, ten minutes off,
:23:08. > :23:12.swap and chop, different positions. Somebody come on with the oranges
:23:13. > :23:15.and the water, oxygen! So, what we're trying
:23:16. > :23:18.to do is do that for a full 80 against a team called
:23:19. > :23:29.the Carbis Bay all-stars. Should be a dream for the
:23:30. > :23:30.commentators, shouldn't it! Stevens passing to Stevens passing to
:23:31. > :23:32.Stevens. What a great try by Stevens! Thank
:23:33. > :23:41.you. Time for the weather now and what a
:23:42. > :23:46.fantastic weekend it was. Holly is here. More good news?
:23:47. > :23:51.Not quite the return to temperatures we had this weekend which exceeded
:23:52. > :23:54.20 degrees in places but some sunshine over coming days, C can't
:23:55. > :23:59.complain about that in April, can you? Hello, good evening. We had
:24:00. > :24:03.very nice weather through the weekend. I think on Saturday, the
:24:04. > :24:07.best of the temperatures was along the north coast. 20 degrees in
:24:08. > :24:11.places. On Sunday, it's all switched around. Cooler conditions coming to
:24:12. > :24:16.the north coast and more clout here. The south coast, again 20 degrees or
:24:17. > :24:22.so but just 30 degrees there in Bude. We have had a bit of a drop in
:24:23. > :24:25.our temperatures. Style sunshine around, our cameraman, Tristan, took
:24:26. > :24:29.a trip out earlier today whether were decent spells of sunshine. Just
:24:30. > :24:32.some cloud bubbling up there. The Cumbrae monuments they looking
:24:33. > :24:37.lovely in the sunshine. You can see the cloud is quite... Very deep,
:24:38. > :24:42.quite squeezed flat and that's because we have high pressure in
:24:43. > :24:48.charge. It tends to squash and reasonably flat. It will do that at
:24:49. > :24:51.times as we head to this week. Many others, the sunshine extending
:24:52. > :24:55.across the region. It has been a decent picture and we continue with
:24:56. > :24:58.that whether overcoming days but we hang onto this cooler feel. Not a
:24:59. > :25:02.return to the kind of temperatures we saw this weekend, but some bright
:25:03. > :25:05.spells to be had and a little bit of rain in general not too much. That
:25:06. > :25:09.is thanks to the high pressure sitting just to the rest of us. At
:25:10. > :25:12.the time being, that is keeping weather fronts at bay. Into Tuesday,
:25:13. > :25:16.the best of the sunshine will come tomorrow. For Wednesday, a week
:25:17. > :25:20.weather front pushes towards is in the afternoon which could bring some
:25:21. > :25:23.rain for a time. Thursday, a couple of showers but mostly dry and
:25:24. > :25:28.another weather front head towards us for Good Friday and come the
:25:29. > :25:32.afternoon, a few spits and spots of rain but a decent amount of usable
:25:33. > :25:35.weather. This is the picture so far. We've had somehow whether cloud
:25:36. > :25:39.bubbling up but is in race conditions out there. For many of
:25:40. > :25:43.us, that cloud has died away now. Clear skies overhead, bree is
:25:44. > :25:48.becoming increasingly light which may allow mist and fog patches to
:25:49. > :25:51.form. Quite chilly, locally down to full single figures so there could
:25:52. > :25:55.be ground or grass frost here or there is we head into tomorrow
:25:56. > :25:59.morning. Any Mr Fogg should literally readily and it should be a
:26:00. > :26:03.decent day. Good spells of sunshine, a light breeze then today just a
:26:04. > :26:06.little bare whether cloud bubbling up again but staying dry tomorrow
:26:07. > :26:11.and temperatures could sneak a little and higher. Maybe 14 degrees
:26:12. > :26:15.tomorrow but again, a bit lower than it was over the weekend. A nice day
:26:16. > :26:18.to convert the Isles of Scilly, sunny spells staying dry and again,
:26:19. > :26:28.light winds. These are the hat times of high water. Fairly small waves
:26:29. > :26:31.across the surface, just one or two feet with generally clean
:26:32. > :26:37.conditions. This is the pick out at sea, variable winds, Mimi Norton of
:26:38. > :26:40.Westerly, three or four, good visibility and conditions there's a
:26:41. > :26:44.bad picture. This is how it looks over the coming days. Tomorrow
:26:45. > :26:49.bringing the best of the sunshine. Maybe a little rain on Wednesday and
:26:50. > :26:52.on Friday afternoon. Showers on Thursday. It looks quite cloudy
:26:53. > :26:56.there but there will be Britain at times. But the all-important Easter
:26:57. > :26:59.weekend, we hang on to be cooler feel with the north-westerly.
:27:00. > :27:05.Sunshine, some showers but hopefully not too many.
:27:06. > :27:12.I'm pleased with more clout as I got burned over the weekend! That's it
:27:13. > :27:18.from us but the late news will be at 10:30pm. Good night.
