:01:21. > :01:26.Gascoyne, who worked at the prison, had been sharing indecent images
:01:27. > :01:34.Jersey Police found Post-it notes with evidence of online user names
:01:35. > :01:39.Today the court heard Gascoyne had used a mobile phone app to share
:01:40. > :01:42.at least twelve images with seven different groups.
:01:43. > :01:45.Some of the images were in the most severe category.
:01:46. > :01:47.He was caught after US authorities sent Jersey Police
:01:48. > :01:50.a disk of evidence showing his online activity.
:01:51. > :01:54.And a later investigation showed he'd accessed pornography -
:01:55. > :01:59.albeit legal - while at his desk at La Moye.
:02:00. > :02:01.The court heard Gascoyne claimed he didn't know why he'd done it,
:02:02. > :02:04.he didn't find the images of children sexually appealing,
:02:05. > :02:08.and that he was only interested in trading images.
:02:09. > :02:10.He described his own behaviour as disturbing, and said sharing
:02:11. > :02:21.Solicitor General Mark Temple, acting for the prosecution,
:02:22. > :02:23.said the former IT worker recognised he'd ruined his life.
:02:24. > :02:26.His Advocate Pierre Landick said Gascoyne knew his behaviour had been
:02:27. > :02:29.repugnant and abhorrent and asked for a sentence of community service.
:02:30. > :02:34.The court heard he was fearful of prison having worked there.
:02:35. > :02:37.But the judge William Bailhache said the community would expect a jail
:02:38. > :02:44.term, although he recognised the defendant needed help.
:02:45. > :02:49.Gascoyne is now back at La Moye, but on the other side of the bars.
:02:50. > :02:51.Well the BBC asked the prison for an interview but instead
:02:52. > :03:05."There was no evidence of illegal activity performed on States

:05:30. > :05:33.Since then, it has absolutely grown to what it is
:05:34. > :05:37.Food, toys, toiletries and treats donated by islanders
:05:38. > :05:42.They go to three Jersey charities, including The Grace Trust,
:05:43. > :05:50.We assist them by providing food parcels for them.
:05:51. > :05:53.They appeared with a truck to pick up the food and I
:05:54. > :05:55.had to send them away to get a bigger lorry.
:05:56. > :06:00.I think they were amazed by how much we had collected.
:06:01. > :06:02.This Christmas, the team of volunteers have already wrapped
:06:03. > :06:08.For us, it is about being able to just have the satisfaction that they
:06:09. > :06:21.are getting something on Christmas Day.
:06:22. > :06:24.A lot of us take for granted being able to walk down the stairs
:06:25. > :06:28.on Christmas Day and have a pile of presents under the Christmas tree.
:06:29. > :06:32.And the project has become so popular, they hope to spread even
:06:33. > :06:35.The team's been been chosen to organise the 2021
:06:36. > :06:38.When Jersey hosted last year, thousands
:06:39. > :06:42.Julia Bowditch, who was a venue manager at the London Olympics,
:06:43. > :06:45.has been named as the Games Director and will work with the chairperson
:06:46. > :06:48.and Specsavers co-founder Dame Mary Perkins.

:07:07. > :07:11.His widow's been to Uttar Pradesh to see the difference it's making,

:07:18. > :07:22.But his partner of more than 40 years says it was what he saw
:07:23. > :07:34.when the cameras stopped that made the biggest impression.
:07:35. > :07:38.The thing about India is that it grabs by the throat
:07:39. > :07:44.Everything is exaggerated and extreme.
:07:45. > :07:45.The colours, noises, wealth and poverty.
:07:46. > :07:48.Because under that clipped moustache, there was
:07:49. > :07:52.He did not like the idea of climbing over huddled bodies to drink
:07:53. > :07:54.champagne on a moonlit terrace with a film star.
:07:55. > :08:01.Going to school and learning is a way out of poverty for children
:08:02. > :08:03.here, but sometimes something incredibly simple gets in the way.
:08:04. > :08:08.Children with bad eyesight aren't able to follow lessons at school,
:08:09. > :08:11.and they can't afford to get glasses or the help they need.
:08:12. > :08:14.That's where the Vision Van comes in, paid for by
:08:15. > :08:17.the Whickers World Foundation, it's a mobile one-stop shop to help
:08:18. > :08:26.They've been doing the first ever eye tests at schools in the region.
:08:27. > :08:28.It is amazing to see all the schoolchildren.
:08:29. > :08:32.Over 600 children here and at least 90 have been on the Vision Van.
:08:33. > :08:34.Many have had treatments allowing them to get
:08:35. > :08:44.If you can identified things early, they have a much
:08:45. > :08:47.better chance of getting out of poverty.
:08:48. > :08:50.The foundation's also paid for a children's ward in one
:08:51. > :08:53.of the few eye hospitals in Uttar Predesh.
:08:54. > :08:56.So the Channel Islander famous for seeing the world,
:08:57. > :09:02.has been helping some of the world's poorest children see it too.
:09:03. > :09:05.I am so glad that Alan has enabled us to do something,
:09:06. > :09:16.even however small, to make a difference.
