:00:31. > :00:40.runway isn't extended. My own view is if we don't have a

:00:49. > :00:52.to missing pensioner Valerie Jehan has been found at Devil's Hole

:02:47. > :02:52.He also said Guernsey could become an economic backwater

:02:59. > :03:04.A parliamentary meeting in a public place.

:03:05. > :03:06.And beyond the usual confines of the States building,

:03:07. > :03:12.there was nowhere to hide from the cameras today.

:03:13. > :03:14.And top of the agenda was to check how much

:03:15. > :03:17.progress has been made in improving Guernsey's air and sea links.

:03:18. > :03:19.And the answer was, "some but not enough."

:03:20. > :03:22.The man responsible says Guernsey needs a longer runway.

:03:23. > :03:26.I would think we would be crazy not to have the runway extension.

:03:27. > :03:32.Because we are otherwise going to be an economic backwater.

:03:33. > :03:35.Deputy Ferbrache says he has reason to believe Condor Ferries

:03:36. > :03:46.They have not told me that they are looking to sell but

:03:47. > :03:49.I read the financial newspapers, I'm not completely without some

:03:50. > :03:53.I believe they want to sell because they are an equity business

:04:13. > :04:18.Bearing in mind that it was such a hot topic at the election

:04:19. > :04:22.and bearing in mind there was a lot of noise made by a lot of people

:04:23. > :04:24.about Aircon activity and sealinks, there has been a lack of pretext

:04:25. > :04:28.and I think that is what we have underlined this morning.

:04:29. > :04:31.about Aircon activity and sealinks, there has been a lack of progress

:04:32. > :04:33.and I think that is what we have underlined this morning.

:04:34. > :04:36.It's too early to say, but based on today's hearing,

:05:24. > :05:28.Guernsey's Community Foundation say the sole motive was to ensure

:05:29. > :05:32.there was no discrimination in public office.

:05:33. > :05:37.There are no winners in this process.

:05:38. > :05:39.We would fully understand that, as we have said.

:05:40. > :05:41.For our part, we continue to feel it was right,

:05:42. > :05:46.with the information we had, to try to resolve this personally,

:05:47. > :05:53.discreetly and privately and secondly, not having been able to do

:05:54. > :06:01.that, on behalf of the Guernsey Disability Alliance and particularly

:06:20. > :06:22.For us, it is really the start of our spring time, really,

:06:23. > :06:25.and after the winter months, we do not really need this to happen

:06:26. > :06:29.but it is going to take a few days to get it sorted out.

:06:30. > :06:32.There is going to be some cost because we have lost trade,

:07:21. > :07:26.He's visited these residents every week for the past four years.

:07:27. > :07:29.He seems to know what you are saying to him.

:07:30. > :07:36.It gives you something to talk about when you're having tea.

:07:37. > :07:42.Funny, we haven't got sausage on the menu today.

:07:43. > :07:44.Sausage is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier,

:07:45. > :07:47.which might not be the first breed you'd think of for a therapy dog.

:07:48. > :07:51.But his owner Angie believes they're misunderstood and says

:07:52. > :07:56.He chooses how long he stays with each person so I've had

:07:57. > :07:59.incidences where people haven't been that well before and he's stayed

:08:00. > :08:03.as if to say, "Yeah, you need picking up a bit,"

:08:04. > :08:06.he wants them to smile before he leaves.

:08:24. > :08:26.of what used to happen in their lives.

:08:27. > :08:33.They love the sort of contact and the one-to-one and their eyes

:08:41. > :08:42.alive, his wife said, for those Wednesdays and those

:08:43. > :08:46.It was St Ewolds who nominated Sausage to be Pat's Dog of the Year.

:08:47. > :08:49.He's up against five other finalists and will appear

:08:52. > :08:53.Angie reckons he may even pull out his signature

:08:54. > :09:01.move for the judges - the Sausage roll.

:09:02. > :09:04.Let's take a look at the weather now, with David Braine.

:09:05. > :09:15.We are into some milder air now but it's not without its problems

:09:16. > :09:18.because the mist and fog return at the same time.

:09:19. > :09:20.Some hill fog around overnight tonight and tomorrow,

:09:21. > :09:24.the risk of either mist or sea fog too, very murky conditions,

:09:25. > :09:28.quite a lot of cloud as well capable of producing a few spots of drizzle

:09:29. > :09:31.but generally for all of us, it will feel quite a bit milder.

:09:32. > :09:35.The reason for that is where the air is coming from, coming from a long

:09:36. > :09:37.way down across the south-west, trickling weather fronts towards us

:09:38. > :09:40.at the same time which means we continue with a lot of cloud

:09:41. > :09:45.Thursday, perhaps a brief bit of brightness before we see further

:09:46. > :09:46.spots of drizzle before he head into Friday.

:09:47. > :09:48.All the while, though, with southerly winds,

:09:49. > :09:51.we are going to see higher temperatures so finally, we are

:09:52. > :09:55.The rain that we saw earlier today will gradually move away

:09:56. > :09:58.Brisk south-westerly winds will continue to feed in a fair

:09:59. > :10:02.amount of cloud and produce some hill fog through the night to come

:10:03. > :10:04.and a relatively mild night, really, with overnight temperatures probably

:10:05. > :10:08.hanging around nine or 10 degrees, so staying in double figures,

:10:09. > :10:10.maybe a few places getting lower than that, most of us

:10:11. > :10:15.And then tomorrow, we're going to have lots of drizzle in the wind,

:10:16. > :10:17.brisk south-west winds and temperatures getting back up

:10:18. > :10:21.to ten, 11, possibly even 12 degrees as a maximum.

:10:22. > :10:25.But it will be quite a blustery day and there is the risk of some mist

:10:26. > :10:30.The warmth across Spain and Portugal will gradually drift northwards

:10:31. > :10:34.through Thursday and into Friday, hopefully beginning to lift

:10:35. > :10:38.the temperatures up so we will find temperatures will rise as we head

:10:39. > :10:40.through the rest of this week, possibly by Friday up

:10:41. > :10:45.to 13 or 14 degrees, with the wind still from the south,

:10:46. > :10:48.brighter but fresher as we head into the weekend.

:10:49. > :10:58.You are up-to-date with the news from the Channel Islands. We will be

:10:59. > :11:02.back at 6:30am tomorrow. Have a good night.

:11:03. > :11:09.rain on Saturday. The national picture now from Nick Miller.

:11:10. > :11:14.It looks like next week high pressure will become a player again

:11:15. > :11:18.in our weather, settling things down for some of us for a time but until

:11:19. > :11:23.then it is low-pressure, rain moving across the UK overnight but not wet

:11:24. > :11:27.all the time. Many of us at a fine day today, this was at you from West

:11:28. > :11:30.Yorkshire and Yorkshire and northern England and Northern Ireland will

:11:31. > :11:36.farewell tomorrow, after this frontal system has pushed on through

:11:37. > :11:37.the UK with rain. But as it does, it introduces milder air so for the

:11:38. > :11:38.rest
