:00:15. > :00:17.secure Jersey's food supply has not been adopted by the States

:00:29. > :00:33.This community garden at Le Marais has been up and running

:00:34. > :00:38.The fruit and veg that's grown here is given to local residents

:00:39. > :00:43.Back in 2012, a draft food security strategy recommended

:00:44. > :00:47.that the environment department develop plans for more community

:00:48. > :00:51.But it's founder Nigel James doesn't think that's happened

:00:52. > :00:55.and says the island has become less self-sufficient.

:00:56. > :00:59.Since 2012 - we've pretty much lost our on island

:01:00. > :01:05.organic growing community - they've collapsed due to various

:01:06. > :01:08.reasons and this has meant that even since they started writing this -

:01:09. > :01:11.we've become much more dependent on importated

:01:12. > :01:17.The draft food security strategy was created in December 2012.

:01:18. > :01:20.It made 13 different recommendations.

:01:21. > :01:23.Such as establishing a Food Security Board.

:01:24. > :01:26.Five years on and that board has never been created.

:01:27. > :01:31.The Co-op has also closed the last remaining warehouse that stocked

:01:32. > :01:37.But the Environment Minister insists they have been addressing the key

:01:38. > :01:42.What we have done is that we have looked at the Condor situation,

:01:43. > :01:44.we have looked at the freight situation, we have looked at

:01:45. > :01:48.the situation with local produce - more recently we've invested

:01:49. > :01:53.government money into a local packhouse that allows local produce

:01:54. > :02:00.Deputy Luce says the 2012 report will now be updated and he's hopeful

:02:01. > :02:09.that it will be officially adopted in the near future.

:02:10. > :02:11.The number of race hate incidents reported to Jersey Police

:02:12. > :02:16.There were 23 reports of hate crime last year -

:02:17. > :02:22.The figures have been increasing year on year since 2012.

:02:23. > :02:24.Guernsey's most senior politician has called for an overhaul

:02:25. > :02:27.of the island's code of conduct system.

:02:28. > :02:30.It's after a recent complaint against these three deputies

:04:12. > :04:14.Now, being shrouded in fog might not be the best way to start

:04:15. > :04:17.a milestone birthday, but nevertheless today

:04:25. > :04:27.80 years ago today, visitors to Jersey became

:04:28. > :04:30.airborne for the first time, and although the airport has

:04:31. > :04:35.changed since those days, it hasn't looked back.

:04:36. > :04:39.Despite a thick blanket of fog delaying flights,

:04:40. > :04:44.We are making the most of the foggy weather and enjoying the cupcakes

:04:45. > :04:47.that the airport has laid on for us today.

:04:48. > :04:50.Even though I'm sitting on a chair, having a nice cake and drinking,

:04:51. > :04:53.It's a lovely day, actually, to be stranded in Jersey.

:04:54. > :04:56.Even though it's really foggy, we're here for the 80th

:04:57. > :04:58.birthday party and we've had a wonderful time in Jersey

:04:59. > :05:03.and could quite happily stay for a little bit longer.

:05:04. > :05:07.But for those that have worked here, its more than just a party.

:05:08. > :05:11.79-year-old Fred started working at the airport back in 1957.

:05:12. > :05:16.He met his wife here but he also holds a fond memory of another lady

:05:17. > :05:23.One that comes to mind especially is Dame Vera Lynn.

:05:24. > :05:27.To have a conversation with her is just like you and I talking now.

:05:28. > :05:30.She was so natural. No airs or graces.

:05:31. > :05:37.She was a lovely lady and I was fortunate to be involved

:05:38. > :05:40.And for the airport's longest serving staff member Stephen,

:05:41. > :05:44.There's been an enormous change, I mean, we're done a lot of work

:05:45. > :05:47.here over the last forty odd years, lots of rebuilding work,

:05:48. > :05:49.lots of infrastructure work, lots of investment in our assets.

:05:50. > :05:52.The past 80 years have flown past for Jersey Airport and thanks

:05:53. > :05:54.to the party atmosphere, it's a celebration staff

:05:55. > :06:17.Good evening. After that visibility problems of the last couple of days,

:06:18. > :06:23.it is better this weekend. It does turn cooler and there is the risk of

:06:24. > :06:27.showers on Sunday. Hype -- are beginning to move away from us, more

:06:28. > :06:33.of a breeze developing. This were the front will change things as it

:06:34. > :06:39.sweeps through during the course of Sunday, rain with heavy showers and

:06:40. > :06:45.bright and dry for the early part of next week. The breeze is not strong

:07:18. > :07:21.next week looks quite promising. High-pressure close by, northerly

:07:22. > :07:28.winds, top temperature of ten or 11 degrees but hopefully no plans with

:07:29. > :07:41.mist and also fog. In a second, a full UK forecast but from all

:07:42. > :07:46.Where the sunshine broke through to the North of Cornwall temperatures

:07:47. > :07:50.rose to 17 degrees under the blue skies. For many of us the cloud

:07:51. > :07:54.didn't break up through the day, keeping temperatures pegged at

:07:55. > :07:59.around about 13 degrees. That was the high today in the London region.

:08:00. > :08:04.Mild over night with the blanket of cloud around. Most places dry. Rain
