:00:00. > :00:10.Good evening, I'm Alison Moss. for the news where you are.

:00:11. > :00:12.It's been revealed this summer there won't be any opportunities

:00:13. > :00:17.for people in Guernsey to travel by ferry and spend

:00:18. > :00:22.Condor's timetables only allows Guernsey customers to travel

:00:23. > :00:25.to their sister island for the afternoon.

:00:26. > :00:29.The States say they want other providers to come

:00:30. > :00:31.forward and offer to run a dedicated inter-island service.

:00:32. > :00:37.To appreciate the beauty of the Channel Islands,

:00:38. > :00:41.It's advice many of us have given - like Condor Ferries who offer

:00:42. > :00:45.day trips with a difference on their website.

:00:46. > :00:48.But this summer, for Guernsey locals and tourists alike,

:00:49. > :00:51.it might not be so easy to experience other islands,

:00:52. > :00:54.as you can't spend more than an afternoon on Jersey.

:00:55. > :00:56.The Committee of Economic Development did not

:00:57. > :01:02.It is debatable what a day trip compromises of.

:01:03. > :01:05.Condor would argue that going out on the Liberation,

:01:06. > :01:08.spending three to four hours on our sister island and returning

:01:09. > :01:13.Personally, I do not feel that's a day trip.

:01:14. > :01:16.From the beginning of June to the end of August,

:01:17. > :01:20.there are just 12 days when you can spend over five hours on Jersey -

:01:21. > :01:24.with the longest amount of time being five hours and 50 minutes.

:01:25. > :01:27.On those days all crossings leave after midday.

:01:28. > :01:30.And for a family of four taking their car over -

:01:31. > :01:33.it'll still set you back almost ?200.

:01:34. > :01:37.If you are going to pay that kind of money you want the full day,

:01:38. > :01:39.everything included and you're not getting that you're not

:01:40. > :01:44.It is not enough time to do what you would want to do,

:01:45. > :01:51.It needs a more user-friendly timetable.

:01:52. > :01:56.People would go for leisure purposes.

:01:57. > :01:58.But Condor say their timetable just isn't designed

:01:59. > :02:04.And a feaseability study last year found that a dedicated inter-island

:02:05. > :02:08.service wouldn't be financially viable for them as there

:02:09. > :02:12.Yet the states believe there is a market for a smaller

:02:13. > :02:16.passenger only ferry service and are urging companies who may be

:02:17. > :02:18.interested in running one to come forward.

:02:19. > :02:23.Jessica Banham, BBC Channel Islands News, Guernsey.

:02:24. > :02:26.Guernsey's new Population Law will come into effect on Monday.

:02:27. > :02:29.The island's politicians passed the last of the new

:02:30. > :02:35.This included capping the number of open market properties

:02:36. > :02:39.that could be used for multi-occupancy use at 205.

:02:40. > :02:42.All aspects of the new law and its effects will be subject

:02:43. > :02:45.to a review by the States, with a report due back

:02:46. > :02:51.Meanwhile, States-owned company Andium Homes has today purchased

:02:52. > :02:55.the Robin Hood site in Jersey to build affordable housing.

:02:56. > :02:59.The site at the corner of Trinity Hill and Springfield Road

:03:00. > :03:03.has been undeveloped for a number of years since the former Robin Hood

:03:04. > :03:17.Are you transported back to the 1980s and the days of Bergerac?

:03:18. > :03:21.Well, tonight, Jersey museum has launched a major exhibition looking

:03:22. > :03:24.back at the decade of shoulder pads and big hair.

:03:25. > :03:27.Our reporter Julie Flanagan has been to meet the star of Bergerac,

:03:28. > :03:40.You can't explore that decade here without mentioning

:03:41. > :03:52.John Nettles, what memories does this beautiful Triumph bring back?

:03:53. > :04:00.Mostly bad ones, I have to say. This car looks beautiful but it is very

:04:01. > :04:06.far from easy to dry. Jersey is full of little lanes, lots of T junctions

:04:07. > :04:13.and cross roads and very high edges so when you come to T-junction ora

:04:14. > :04:18.corner, you have to look round and see if it is safe to go out but look

:04:19. > :04:24.at the length of this bonnet. What do you do? You go and hang that out

:04:25. > :04:29.in Cannonball Alley and hope to god that nothing is coming your way. You

:04:30. > :04:34.were in Jersey when it was buzzing with nightclubs and tourism was

:04:35. > :04:42.booming. What are your memories of the 1980s? I do remember much. I do!

:04:43. > :04:47.It was a wonderful time. The place was packed. You couldn't move along

:04:48. > :04:55.the Esplanade, the beaches were packed everywhere. Even the five

:04:56. > :04:58.mile beaches but packed. The nightclubs, you couldn't go 500

:04:59. > :05:03.yards without finding and nightclub and light entertainment. Are you as

:05:04. > :05:10.fond of the character Bergerac as we are? I love him. He pays my

:05:11. > :05:16.mortgage. He is a rather silly character. He is to become ID NATS

:05:17. > :05:23.character, as Dario typical maverick cop and so on but I liked him. And

:05:24. > :05:27.so do I. That exhibition opens tomorrow to the public.

:05:28. > :05:29.Sport now, and last weekend, Jersey Reds pulled off one

:05:30. > :05:31.of their greatest wins - beating this season's undefeated

:05:32. > :05:35.This Sunday, both teams will be squaring up once more for semifinal

:05:36. > :05:38.tie in the British and Irish Cup at Reading's Madejski Stadium.

:05:39. > :05:40.BBC Radio Jersey will have coverage on Sportscene this Sunday.

:05:41. > :05:42.It's a massive weekend for Jersey netball with

:05:43. > :05:46.And on Sunday is that crucial last National Premiership 2 League

:05:47. > :05:50.match when Team Jets play Premier Romans in Bristol.

:05:51. > :05:53.A win for Jersey is necessary if they're to be sure of avoiding

:05:54. > :06:01.Here's David Braine and the weekend forecast.

:06:02. > :06:10.Good evening. April showers is the order of the day. As we move into

:06:11. > :06:16.Sunday, we should get some fine, dry weather. It will be a bit cooler.

:06:17. > :06:21.Low pressure moving in, that means scattered showers, some of them

:06:22. > :06:26.heavy at times. This is Saturday. By Sunday, more settled weather and

:06:27. > :06:29.some sunshine as well. Spots of rain overnight tonight, some of it

:06:30. > :06:36.turning out to be moderate in places. Showers and the chilly start

:06:37. > :06:40.the day tomorrow, 8 degrees the minimum temperature. Tomorrow,

:06:41. > :06:46.showers and sunshine in between the showers, winds drudgery changing

:06:47. > :06:52.direction, becoming westerly and then northwesterly to end the day

:06:53. > :06:57.and just 12 degrees the maximum temperature, a fresher, cooler feel

:06:58. > :07:00.to the airport wall of us. Into Sunday, we've got fine weather

:07:01. > :07:05.around. There might be a shower first thing but it will be fine and

:07:06. > :07:11.dry. That stays with us into next week. The only fly in the ordnance

:07:12. > :07:18.could be a bit of rain, patchy, for some of us it is needed. Most of us

:07:19. > :07:23.getting away with dry weather. In a second, a full UK forecast. From all

:07:24. > :07:28.of us, good night. That is it from us. Have a lovely

:07:29. > :07:37.weekend. We're back with the news on Monday at 6:30pm.

:07:38. > :07:43.Hello. There the weekend is here and Sunday looks like being the better

:07:44. > :07:46.day of the two. We're going to start the weekend, a new month, with

:07:47. > :07:51.sunshine and April showers. Those fade away overnight. Saturday night

:07:52. > :07:53.could be chilly. It points to a fine day on Sunday. This picture was

:07:54. > :07:54.taken by a weather
