:00:50. > :00:52.Ana Maria Pereira De Sousa Rebelo. They want to hear from anyone

:00:53. > :00:59.who spoke to her after last Friday, and today a suspect

:01:09. > :01:11.was found at this home on Victoria Street in St Helier

:01:12. > :01:14.two days ago. A member of the public called 999,

:01:15. > :01:17.but she was already dead Now, a post mortem exam has found

:01:18. > :01:24.that she died as a result of compression to the neck

:01:25. > :01:25.by a third party - A 58-year-old man arrested

:01:26. > :01:32.on Tuesday on suspicion of her murder has been released

:01:33. > :01:34.on bail, while officers The police aren't giving

:01:35. > :01:39.any interviews today, but told me earlier they aren't

:02:12. > :02:12.since the Groves family received a horrific call

:02:13. > :02:15.saying their daughter, The trial of the man accused

:03:19. > :03:22.appalled by the quest for justice in Kashmir.

:03:23. > :03:25.This man's accused of her murder but the trial is taking years

:03:26. > :03:33.Persistent delays, including witnesses not appearing in court,

:03:34. > :03:35.the defendant dismissing a number of his lawyers and civil

:03:36. > :03:38.unrest in the region, are all issues the family are having

:03:39. > :03:44.But her father says they're hopeful the new public prosecutor will be

:03:45. > :03:58.I just keep harking back to the futility of the whole thing. How it

:03:59. > :04:04.can ever come about this kind of situation happens, her any one human

:04:05. > :04:12.being can do this to any other human being. I suppose, best we can ever

:04:13. > :04:17.hope for is to be categorical, beyond all doubt who did it, and

:04:18. > :04:18.then if we are really lucky, to find out why.

:04:19. > :04:21.A prolific paedophile's been sentenced to eight and a half years

:04:22. > :04:28.42-year old Karn Damien Laffoley from Jersey,

:04:29. > :04:31.groomed a woman to take indecent images of her child and then

:04:32. > :04:35.Police describe him as a predator, whose behaviour was "nothing

:04:36. > :04:44.Back in court for another sex offence.

:04:45. > :04:47.Karn Laffoley has been in and out of jail in the UK and Jersey over

:04:48. > :04:50.the past 8 years for making and distributing indecent

:04:51. > :04:55.His latest offence involves 434 images.

:04:56. > :05:01.19 of the level 4 category, which is the second most severe.

:05:02. > :05:03.They feature various unknown children -

:05:04. > :05:08.and also a nine year old girl referred to as Miss A -

:05:09. > :05:13.On the first of January 2015 Laffoley contacted Miss A's mother -

:05:14. > :05:16.known as Ms X, via the Plenty of Fish dating site.

:05:17. > :05:20.Her profile picture featured her with her 9 year old daughter.

:05:21. > :05:23.This is while he was completing a Sex Offender Treatment Programme

:05:24. > :05:31.By March, Ms X - who lives in the UK -

:05:32. > :05:33.was sending indecent images and movies of her

:05:34. > :05:37.He also visited them - breaching his restrictions.

:05:38. > :05:39.Those pictures among many others have been

:05:40. > :05:43.uncovered on the 'dark web' - where they'll remain indefinitely.

:05:44. > :05:45.Today the Royal Court sentenced Laffoley to 8

:05:46. > :05:50.And banned for 15 years from contacting or being

:05:51. > :05:53.in the presence of young people as well as using

:05:54. > :06:17.Jersey's Bailiff William Bailhache said in court that the

:06:18. > :06:19.Laffoley will receive more treatment for his addiction

:06:20. > :06:27.Women in Jersey will be automatically invited for cervical

:06:28. > :06:29.screening when they turn 25 - rather than waiting for them

:06:30. > :06:33.Cervical cancer's the most common cancer among younger women,

:06:34. > :06:38.but if caught early enough it's one of the most treatable.

:06:39. > :06:40.Charlie McArdle's been to meet one woman in Jersey whose family knows

:06:41. > :06:47.Jade De Abreu's stepmother, Lisa, has been diagnosed

:06:48. > :06:51.with stage 4 terminal cancer at the age of 35.

:06:52. > :06:55.Lisa - who lives in the UK - failed to have a smear test for 9

:06:56. > :06:58.years, believing she was too young to get cervical cancer,

:06:59. > :07:12.We were totally shocked because of her age. And then a little bit angry

:07:13. > :07:18.because you think, nine years, why would you not have a smear for nine

:07:19. > :07:23.years? And then if one had been done earlier, it could've been a outcome.

:07:24. > :07:24.That's one of the worst part of it, it could have been preventable.

:07:25. > :07:27.Although numbers are small, Cervical cancer is the most common

:07:28. > :07:31.And if caught early enough, it's very treatable -

:07:32. > :07:33.with nine out of ten women surviving.

:07:34. > :07:36.In Jersey, women are offered screening every three years

:07:37. > :07:38.from the age of 25 but unlike the UK, are not

:07:39. > :07:42.automatically invited for their first test.

:07:43. > :07:47.That could change though, as there are plans to write

:07:48. > :07:50.to all women, inviting them to be screened as soon as

:07:51. > :08:02.What we're trying to develop is a system where from our names and

:08:03. > :08:05.addresses registered, we can then set up a call system, we hope to

:08:06. > :08:07.have that in place by the end of this year.

:08:08. > :08:08.Until that happens, you're being urged to make

:08:09. > :08:12.that first appointment, and keep up with the regular checks.

:08:13. > :08:22.Do you speak to Lisa on regular basis? Do she have a message for

:08:23. > :08:24.young women? Absolutely, just go and do it. It could have been prevented,
