:01:41. > :01:43.newspaper, two former military men claim that tens of thousands
:01:44. > :01:45.of slave workers were And they go on to suggest that
:01:46. > :01:49.Alderney could've been a base We came to the conclusion with other
:01:50. > :01:57.factors that this was why they were cited in Alderney because you could
:01:58. > :02:05.construct and prepare V1s with nerve agent warheads on them
:02:06. > :02:08.which you could do in total secrecy given the unique
:02:09. > :02:12.circumstance of Alderney. There was no possibility
:02:13. > :02:14.of discovery. But those claims are being
:02:15. > :02:18.criticised by a local historian. It's like saying I have

:02:21. > :02:31.identifiable from the air. You could not have
:02:32. > :02:36.got V1s there and why But those claims have been
:02:37. > :02:41.criticised by the Channel Whether or not you agree
:02:42. > :02:43.with the claims in these articles, they've prompted an Alderney
:02:44. > :02:46.politician to ask for top secret When the people of Alderney returned
:02:47. > :03:02.home at the end of the war it was to write a new chapter,

:04:31. > :04:32.we were assuming responsibility for the repair and renovation
:04:33. > :04:35.and maintenance for the Steam Clock. That's why we've now given
:04:36. > :04:37.commitment that we will keep it secure and we will keep it safe
:04:38. > :04:40.and we will keep it tidy. As regard to what will happen
:04:41. > :04:44.to the Steam Clock in the longer term, we need to commission some
:04:45. > :04:46.expertise to find out James says advice so far suggests
