:01:09. > :01:12.And it's the sea off the west of the island where a local diver
:01:13. > :01:16.found remains of body parts that have now been confirmed by forensic
:01:17. > :01:22.The 61-year-old disappeared from his St Brelade home
:01:23. > :01:27.His yacht, Desiree, was towed to shore by Jersey Coastguard
:01:28. > :01:31.after being found empty a mile off Corbiere.
:01:32. > :01:34.Despite searches and appeals, Mr Deeming was never found.
:01:35. > :01:41.The news has been met with shock in St Aubin,
:01:42. > :01:42.where he was well-known and well-liked in the community.
:01:43. > :01:45.A keen sailor, he was often in and out of this
:01:46. > :01:53.He was a very easy-going sort of guy.
:01:54. > :01:56.He had done a bit of gardening, a bit of boat work, quite an
:01:57. > :02:02.He was a part of the fabric of the town over
:02:03. > :02:07.the years and we had all got very used to him.
:02:08. > :02:10.The police say they aren't treating the death as suspicious,
:02:11. > :02:12.and are continuing enquiries with the Deputy Viscount
:02:13. > :02:15.about the possibility of sending out divers for further searches at sea.
:02:16. > :02:19.They say officers are continuing to support Mr Deeming's family.
:02:20. > :02:22.Creche facilities at Guernsey's largest leisure centre are to close
:02:23. > :02:25.as part of moves to reduce costs and make way for
:02:26. > :02:30.The Beau Sejour creche escaped closure four years ago
:02:31. > :02:35.when a campaign by users forced a u-turn by the States.
:02:36. > :02:37.But politicians now say it's no longer value for money,
:02:38. > :02:43.It's a busy leisure centre with thousands of islanders making
:02:44. > :02:47.But it seems fewer and fewer are using the creche,
:02:48. > :02:50.with declining numbers making it costly to run, at a time
:02:51. > :02:55.It is significantly loss-making, and obviously it's subsidised
:02:56. > :03:00.To give you an indication, if we were to actually increase
:03:01. > :03:05.the price per hour would probably be in the region of ?12 per hour and
:03:06. > :03:07.when you look at the cost of childcare anyway,
:03:08. > :03:13.we wouldn't be able to raise our prices that much.
:03:14. > :03:19.Staff only found out yesterday and say they're
:03:20. > :03:23.But the committee responsible says the space is needed for services
:03:24. > :03:27.for people with medical conditions or recovering from other
:03:28. > :03:31.health issues, which are, in contrast, growing in demand.
:03:32. > :03:34.We have to try and balance what's best for the community.
:03:35. > :03:36.We have an ageing population and the LifeFit requirement
:03:37. > :03:39.and referrals from doctors and health and social services
:03:40. > :03:44.to Beau Sejour to help maintain healthy lifestyle and also recover
:03:45. > :03:46.from things like heart attacks grew 28% last year.
:03:47. > :03:55.As medical health services begin to overlap with physical and mental
:03:56. > :03:57.fitness and wellbeing, it's clear there's
:03:58. > :03:59.a need for facilities like these to be expanded.

:04:03. > :04:09.of where cuts in public spending are being felt by islanders.
:04:10. > :04:13.Guernsey's government has been told the States-owned airline Aurigny
:04:14. > :04:16.is on course to make a ?6.3 million loss if current trends continue.
:04:17. > :04:18.Declining passenger numbers, bad weather, crew costs,
:04:19. > :04:21.exchange rates, fuel prices, and fleet maintenance all contribute
:04:22. > :04:32.Members heard the airline's been granted a ?6 million overdraft.
:04:33. > :04:35.Proposals to run a passenger-only inter-island ferry service over
:04:36. > :04:40.Guernsey's Economic Development Committee says it's been in talks
:04:41. > :04:43.with Condor Ferries and the States of Jersey about a possible
:04:44. > :04:45.trial to help tackle declining passenger numbers.
:04:46. > :04:48.But the idea's now been withdrawn because it says
:04:49. > :04:57.it wasn't prepared to subsidise the service.

:05:04. > :05:10.But Condor came with good intentions and a good presentation.

:05:14. > :05:22.Condor Ferries says it's disappointed Guernsey has decided
