:00:03. > :00:09.Dominic Heale and me, Kylie Pentelow. Our top story tonight:
:00:09. > :00:18.Schools on alert over the online grooming of children. A man, posing
:00:18. > :00:22.as a youngster, has been befriended by hundreds of pupils on Facebook.
:00:22. > :00:26.I accepted thinking that he was coming to this school. He started
:00:26. > :00:29.posting things on my wall. Also tonight: the protestors who's
:00:29. > :00:35.plotted to shut down a power station have their convictions
:00:35. > :00:40.quashed. This is a small success in the context of a much bigger
:00:40. > :00:44.picture to do with police and CPS responsibility and accountability,
:00:44. > :00:47.peaceful process and the use of undercover policing.
:00:47. > :00:51.Plus - the army's coming to Cottesmore - and there's a big
:00:51. > :00:55.welcome waiting. Beekeeping is we know there is a future and we did
:00:55. > :00:58.not know that yesterday. -- the key thing.
:00:59. > :01:08.And longer blades mean twice the power - an exclusive report on a
:01:09. > :01:21.
:01:21. > :01:24.new type of turbine. This is East Good evening and welcome to the
:01:24. > :01:27.programme. First tonight, police are trying to trace a man tried to
:01:27. > :01:29.befriended more than a 100 schoolchildren on the internet. He
:01:29. > :01:32.posted indecent comments on the social network site Facebook, tried
:01:32. > :01:35.to get addresses for some children and arrange meetings with them. The
:01:35. > :01:37.head teacher at the school targeted says it's vital he's caught. Rob
:01:37. > :01:40.Sissons reports. These children have learnt an
:01:40. > :01:42.important lesson - be careful about who you accept as a friend on a
:01:42. > :01:45.social network site. The head teacher at Nottinghamshire's
:01:45. > :01:48.Selston Arts and community college says someone posing under the name
:01:48. > :01:58.Hi Heart was made contact befriended more than 100 children
:01:58. > :01:58.
:01:58. > :02:02.at her school on Facebook. It is very much a shock. When I looked at
:02:02. > :02:07.the scripts the students read, I felt sick. I would not like to
:02:07. > :02:12.repeat the kind of comments that this person made on Facebook. It
:02:12. > :02:17.was absolutely disgusting. I met one of the children who fund it --
:02:17. > :02:22.unwittingly accepted him as a friend. It made me realise that I
:02:22. > :02:28.should look at people's profile before I go on Facebook and protect
:02:28. > :02:31.my own profile. It seems everyone's a lot wiser. It has been a wake-up
:02:31. > :02:38.call for me. It is almost good that it has happened because people are
:02:38. > :02:42.more aware. This latest attempt of internet grooming shows a sinister
:02:42. > :02:45.side of the internet which has been a real wake-up call for the school.
:02:46. > :02:55.It also shows the peer-group pressure that people can be under
:02:56. > :02:57.
:02:57. > :02:59.to get more friends on Facebook. The child exploitation and online
:02:59. > :03:02.protection centre's received 1,536) of all reports of online grooming
:03:02. > :03:05.in 2009-10. 135 cases involved making arrangements to meet a child
:03:05. > :03:06.offline. There's now a warning on the Selston school's website and
:03:06. > :03:11.neighbouring schools in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire
:03:12. > :03:17.alerted. So Rob's here now. Rob, you have
:03:17. > :03:23.some more information about the police investigation.
:03:23. > :03:27.Disturbing case. Nottingham police are taking the lead in this and not
:03:27. > :03:31.trying to track down whoever made these postings on Facebook. In the
:03:31. > :03:34.meantime, their advice to parents is keep an eye on what your
:03:34. > :03:38.children are doing on social networks. Easier said than done
:03:38. > :03:42.sometimes, they get them to know about privacy settings and not let
:03:42. > :03:52.anyone as a friend who they do not know. There is advice to parents on
:03:52. > :03:56.a website. There are lots of tips there, it is given below. There are
:03:56. > :03:59.lots of tips for children as well. Next, vindication for the climate
:03:59. > :04:01.activists whose plot to close Ratcliffe Power Station was
:04:01. > :04:03.infiltrated by an undercover cop. Today the Appeal Court overturned
:04:03. > :04:08.their convictions because Mark Kennedy's secret recordings weren't
:04:08. > :04:13.revealed at their trial. Nottinghamshire Police say they're
:04:13. > :04:15."extremely disappointed" by the ruling. Our Social Affairs
:04:15. > :04:20.Correspondent, Jeremy Ball, reports from the Royal Courts of Justice in
:04:20. > :04:29.London. The protestors target was one of
:04:29. > :04:32.Britain's biggest coal-fired power plants. They were going to stop the
:04:32. > :04:34.coal conveyer belts and scale Ratcliffe's tallest chimney in what
:04:34. > :04:37.the prosecution described as a publicity stunt. But protestors
:04:37. > :04:39.claim it was legally justified because they were making a genuine
:04:39. > :04:41.attempt to cut dangerous carbon emissions. And today their
:04:41. > :04:47.convictions for conspiring to cause criminal damage and trespass were
:04:48. > :04:51.overturned. I don't think words will do it justice. We believed
:04:51. > :04:55.after 825 days, since the arrest. That is all we can say. We will
:04:55. > :04:59.wait for the outcome tomorrow, but the convictions have been quashed
:04:59. > :05:03.so we are relieved, and a bit of justice has been done. It's more
:05:03. > :05:05.than two years since the 20 were arrested in a raid at this school
:05:05. > :05:08.in Nottingham where their meetings to plan the protest were being
:05:08. > :05:11.bugged by a undercover detective. But Mark Kennedy's recordings were
:05:11. > :05:13.never disclosed and the activists claim his tapes could have proved
:05:13. > :05:20.their defence. Today the Lord Chief Justice agreed that their trial
:05:20. > :05:25.wasn't fair. The convictions have been quashed today, and that is
:05:25. > :05:30.welcome, but this is a small can -- success in the context of a much
:05:30. > :05:34.bigger picture in the -- what to do with police and accountability,
:05:34. > :05:37.peaceful protest and the use of undercover policing. Today's appeal
:05:37. > :05:39.was highly unusual because it was sparked by the Crown Prosecution
:05:39. > :05:42.Service, a decision that Nottinghamshire Police say still
:05:42. > :05:44.hasn't been explained to them despite repeated requests. And the
:05:45. > :05:52.force says it'll act on any relevant findings when the judges
:05:52. > :05:55.explain their rulings here tomorrow. Schools in Nottingham have been
:05:55. > :06:00.told that funding for their rebuilding programmes will not be
:06:00. > :06:04.restored. The Building Schools for the Future projects at Top Valley
:06:04. > :06:07.School and Trinity School in Aspley were cancelled in the first days of
:06:07. > :06:10.the coalition government. The City Council had forced a judicial
:06:10. > :06:16.review of the decision. Today the Education Secretary Michael Gove
:06:16. > :06:19.confirmed the 33 million cuts would not be reinstated.
:06:19. > :06:22.The Probation Service in Derbyshire has defended its actions after a
:06:22. > :06:28.convicted murderer, released on licence, went on to kill two of his
:06:28. > :06:31.neighbours in Derby. Yesterday Andrew Dawson was told that he
:06:31. > :06:35.would spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murders of Dave
:06:35. > :06:37.Matthews and Paul Hancock. Probation officers who were
:06:37. > :06:44.supervising Dawson's licence conditions say he was closely
:06:44. > :06:47.watched and had no way of knowing he would kill again.
:06:47. > :06:54.Still to come: Plans for a big shake-up in the way day care for
:06:54. > :07:04.the elderly is provided in Derby. Yes, we're live from a meeting that
:07:04. > :07:07.
:07:07. > :07:14.could see one of the city's two-day After months of uncertainty the
:07:14. > :07:16.future of RAF Cottesmore in Rutland has finally been decided. It's been
:07:16. > :07:21.chosen as the headquarters for a new multi-role brigade,
:07:21. > :07:24.incorporating thousands of troops. So, what does that involve, and
:07:24. > :07:32.what do local people think of the army taking over from the RAF?
:07:32. > :07:35.Here's our Chief News reporter For decades the skies around
:07:35. > :07:44.Cottesmore roared to the sound of the RAF, soon you're more likely to
:07:44. > :07:47.hear the roar of a Sergeant Major. From 2014 the army will move in. As
:07:47. > :07:52.troops return from Germany Cottesmore will be the HQ for one
:07:52. > :07:55.of five multi-role brigades around the country. Thousands of troops
:07:55. > :08:01.will be split between four sites in the East of England, including
:08:01. > :08:04.North Luffenham also in Rutland. So what is a multi-role brigade?
:08:04. > :08:06.Well, it's made up of between 5- 6,000 troops and could include a
:08:06. > :08:14.regiment of Challenger 2 tanks, four infantry battalions and one
:08:14. > :08:20.reconnaissance regiment. The base brings in more than 30
:08:20. > :08:25.million to the local economy, so the army is warmly welcomed.
:08:25. > :08:32.Absolutely brilliant, better than some of the autumn its that were
:08:32. > :08:36.suggested. -- alternatives. It will give jobs to people. Rutland has
:08:36. > :08:41.lost a lot of income and hopefully they will regain some when the army
:08:41. > :08:44.comes back again. There will be a lot of passing by trade hopefully.
:08:44. > :08:51.With the army coming in, there will be more traffic and more people
:08:51. > :08:54.stopping off. RAF closed, Ashford present closed as well, the army
:08:54. > :08:58.coming is good. Political leaders say Rutland has nothing to fear
:08:58. > :09:03.from so many troops in the county. I don't think it will be flooded by
:09:03. > :09:06.thousands of troops. Have they noticed any significant difference
:09:06. > :09:09.with the Army in North Luffenham? I believe that with the army
:09:09. > :09:12.personnel I have dealt with, they will work with the community and
:09:12. > :09:16.they will be very, very good tenants. The base itself is still
:09:16. > :09:24.in the dark about many of the details but at least the main
:09:24. > :09:26.uncertainty is over. Leicestershire Police have thanked the public for
:09:26. > :09:29.their help in tracing a missing man. 63-year-old Michael Brookes was
:09:29. > :09:39.reported missing on Saturday afternoon, having last been seen in
:09:39. > :09:52.
:09:52. > :10:02.Shepshed. He's now been found safe Next, it's a fledgling industry,
:10:02. > :10:06.
:10:06. > :10:12.I have secured over 50,000 signatures for a petition, calling
:10:12. > :10:16.on the government to look again at the proposals to all the contract
:10:16. > :10:19.to Siemens in Germany, not least because the Prime Minister visited
:10:19. > :10:29.Derby almost four months ago and said he was committed to
:10:29. > :10:39.
:10:39. > :10:42.rebalancing the economy in favour Next tonight, the cost of looking
:10:42. > :10:45.after the elderly. Our population may be ageing but one council is
:10:45. > :10:48.tonight considering closing one of its last two remaining day-care
:10:48. > :10:51.centres for old people. To tell us more, Simon Hare joins us live from
:10:51. > :10:54.Derby. Good evening, Simon. Yes, the cabinet which effectively runs
:10:54. > :10:57.Derby City Council is meeting here tonight. On the agenda, plans to
:10:57. > :11:00.close the Whitaker Centre and merge it with another one elsewhere in
:11:00. > :11:06.the city. Unsurprisingly, it's an idea that's not gone down well with
:11:06. > :11:12.many who use the service. I did 15 years on the buses.
:11:12. > :11:19.and Brian say their day-care centre is a godsend. When I get on the bus
:11:19. > :11:24.in the morning, I say, OK, girls, get on the number two. I love being
:11:24. > :11:27.with people and I love talking. can tell! This place, they have
:11:27. > :11:30.worked wonders for me. Under council plans it would remain, but
:11:30. > :11:34.also have to accommodate everyone that currently uses this centre at
:11:34. > :11:38.Littleover. In this time of economic austerity, we are looking
:11:38. > :11:43.to make the best use of our resources and therefore it seems to
:11:43. > :11:46.make more sense to close one of the centres and have a full and vibrant
:11:46. > :11:51.remaining centre. Dennis has been coming to the Whitaker Centre for
:11:52. > :11:56.three years and doesn't feel it's promoted properly.
:11:57. > :12:05.We have been a reduced number, not because we are unpopular, nobody is
:12:05. > :12:15.tapping and going around saying, day centre for the old people.
:12:15. > :12:18.bring out your elderly! Among the alternatives to day-care
:12:18. > :12:25.centres being considered is a plan to recruit volunteers who are
:12:25. > :12:28.willing to invite older people into their homes. No, this is best. We
:12:28. > :12:37.are all together. It is great. It is just a mingling of people
:12:37. > :12:41.together and we are happy. I have just been told from my
:12:41. > :12:44.colleague that the recommendations have been approved. Labour says it
:12:44. > :12:54.is flawed thinking, but there will now have to be a period of public
:12:54. > :13:21.
:13:21. > :13:23.The growth in the number of wind turbines being installed across the
:13:23. > :13:33.country shows how determined the industry is to meet the
:13:33. > :13:44.
:13:45. > :13:49.Inventors have come up with a new design. Weeping it is absolutely
:13:49. > :13:53.critical. It is not a panacea for war, but when you go offshore into
:13:53. > :13:57.deep waters where there are a lot of Tower Bines installed, it is
:13:57. > :14:02.very important that you do not have too many to maintain and you
:14:02. > :14:06.minimise your risk of things going wrong. Having 89 that is twice as
:14:06. > :14:10.big, and we are going for more robust and health and safety
:14:10. > :14:13.benefits, fundamentally if we can make something twice as big, you
:14:13. > :14:18.will reduce your operational costs and the costs are for electricity
:14:18. > :14:22.for everyone. This small-scale model demonstrates the concept, but
:14:22. > :14:25.its testing and see what a place in the next few years. The
:14:25. > :14:29.Loughborough team will need a big industrial partner to make the idea
:14:29. > :14:36.a reality. They hope the parts can be made in the East Midlands.
:14:36. > :14:39.a case of show me now. It is a case of funding going forward. We need
:14:39. > :14:44.to build a demonstrator to validate the numbers we have created through
:14:44. > :14:49.the modelling process. We believe there is a massive market to fill
:14:49. > :14:52.and if we could fill just 10 % of it, we would be run off our feet.
:14:52. > :14:58.We are very excited about this technology and believe it has its
:14:58. > :15:02.place in the market. We are looking to drive it there. If the designers
:15:02. > :15:12.in Loughborough are successful, their invention could mean a global
:15:12. > :15:18.
:15:18. > :15:20.The growth in the number of wind turbines being installed across the
:15:20. > :15:23.country shows how determined the industry is to meet the
:15:23. > :15:26.government's ambitious targets. They want to generate 15% of the
:15:26. > :15:29.UK's energy needs from renewable sources by 2015. At the moment we
:15:29. > :15:33.get our electricity from a range of sources. In the 1st Quarter of 2011,
:15:33. > :15:40.38% came from gas, 34% from coal, 17.9% from nuclear power and 8.1%
:15:40. > :15:43.from renewable sources. Once seen as a fringe industry, the renewable
:15:43. > :15:49.sector has seen something of a boom in recent years, encouraged by
:15:49. > :15:52.government subsidies. The types of renewable schemes vary greatly -
:15:52. > :15:54.for example beneath the waters of a reservoir at Kings Mill hospital in
:15:54. > :15:57.Nottinghamshire is a massive geothermal heat exchange system
:15:57. > :16:07.which produces up to 7kW of energy for every 1kW it uses,
:16:07. > :16:08.
:16:08. > :16:11.significantly reducing the hospitals energy bills. And this
:16:11. > :16:17.crop growing on a restored landfill site at Fiskerton is actually bio
:16:17. > :16:21.fuel. It's a plant known as elephant grass and is part of a
:16:21. > :16:30.pilot scheme. The first crop, which is similar in appearance to bamboo,
:16:30. > :16:38.will be harvested in the spring of 2013.
:16:38. > :16:43.The leaves fall off after the first frost. You are then left with this
:16:43. > :16:47.would be Cape which has got a high lignin content, making it ideal for
:16:47. > :16:49.burning, which is worthy of growing this crop. It's not certain that
:16:49. > :16:53.all these innovations will help the government reach its renewable
:16:53. > :16:55.target, but one thing is clear - however our energy is generated our
:16:55. > :17:02.bills will continue to rise. British Gas recently put their
:17:02. > :17:05.prices up and others are expected to follow suit. A short time ago, I
:17:05. > :17:08.spoke to Dr John Andresen an energy expert from the University of
:17:08. > :17:18.Nottingham and began by asking him if we could really end our
:17:18. > :17:25.dependence on fossil fuel. Very much so, yes, I believe so.
:17:25. > :17:31.Not only win, but you need to have a package of alternatives,
:17:31. > :17:36.including wind. There is also biomass, different types,
:17:36. > :17:41.geothermal, wave power. If that all comes together, I think you should
:17:41. > :17:48.get an alternative package to replace the decline of fossil fuel.
:17:48. > :17:54.I suppose people are concerned at all levels, but to provide a viable
:17:54. > :17:58.alternative, wouldn't you have to coat the entire country in the
:17:58. > :18:03.Tower Vines was mad yes. Another problem is that when you have taken
:18:03. > :18:08.the best spot, the ones that are left over are not in production.
:18:08. > :18:17.For example, last year we had an increase of 20 % in capacity, but
:18:17. > :18:21.actually that effect can be less. You can't have a system that is
:18:21. > :18:28.dependent on wind if the wind drops for months on end as appears to be
:18:28. > :18:32.the case. When we need electricity the most, typically in winter, wind
:18:32. > :18:37.is low so for example last December when we had a snowstorm, there was
:18:37. > :18:41.virtually no wind at put their tour and electricity demand was highest.
:18:41. > :18:47.The other concern is cost. Inevitably, renewable energy is
:18:47. > :18:53.going to be more costly than fossil fuel. Unnecessarily. Initially,
:18:53. > :19:01.most renewables will be very expensive, but as more capacity is
:19:01. > :19:06.being snore -- being stored, those costs will go down. A certain part
:19:06. > :19:12.of wind and solar, and certainly some biomass energy, is cost
:19:12. > :19:21.competitor with fossil fuel today. Thank you very much indeed.
:19:21. > :19:24.Let's see if Colin can fuel our interest in sport!
:19:24. > :19:27.First, Leicester City manager Sven- Goran Eriksson says there's been no
:19:27. > :19:31.approach from Derby County for the club captain Matt Oakley despite
:19:31. > :19:35.reports this morning. Sven was speaking from Sweden last night. He
:19:35. > :19:37.and his team have been in his homeland for a pre-season tour and
:19:37. > :19:40.Natalie has been with them. Well, Leicester City ended their
:19:40. > :19:42.10-day tour of Sweden in Stockholm, the country's capital city. They
:19:42. > :19:45.won the Stockholm Trophy comprehensively and Sven has had so
:19:45. > :19:53.many players at his disposal because of his clubs glittering
:19:53. > :20:03.spending spree. He's been able to field to two separate teams.
:20:03. > :20:08.But is everybody on board with such a large squad? We have got a strong
:20:08. > :20:13.Swat and hopefully good competition for places. They have all got to
:20:13. > :20:17.compete and to pull in the same direction. You only to spend a bit
:20:17. > :20:21.of time with the team to see how well organised Sven is and well
:20:21. > :20:24.liked. Strong arms! Last night's game was against Swedish third
:20:24. > :20:27.division side Vasalunds. And while the players crammed into the tiny
:20:27. > :20:34.dressing room Sven discussed more transfer targets with his football
:20:34. > :20:40.director. It is a major investment that they are making, not just on
:20:41. > :20:44.players, we are looking at training ground improvements, video screens,
:20:44. > :20:49.a new playing surface as well. There is an awful lot that the
:20:49. > :20:52.owners are doing. Last night a number of the club's seven new
:20:52. > :21:00.signings got a run out, but it was an established favourite who
:21:00. > :21:07.impressed the manager. Steve Howard scored all the goals, the with so
:21:07. > :21:17.many new players it is easy to mix all the names up. No. 9, Steve
:21:17. > :21:17.
:21:17. > :21:21.Oakley! Sven-Goran Eriksson it still wants more editions. As a
:21:21. > :21:27.manager, you are never happy because you always want more. But
:21:27. > :21:37.so far, they have been fantastic for us.
:21:37. > :21:40.We will have more with Sven-Goran Eriksson in Sweden tomorrow.
:21:40. > :21:50.Now, over the last couple of weeks, we've been looking around our

:21:50. > :21:53.counties through the eyes of our After a fallow and frustrating
:21:53. > :21:55.fortnight, things are starting to happen at Nottingham Forest. Last
:21:55. > :21:58.night we brought you news of Jonathan Greening's signing. This
:21:58. > :22:01.afternoon Forest confirmed they'd managed to seal a deal to keep
:22:01. > :22:04.French midfielder Guy Moussi at the City Ground for the next three
:22:04. > :22:10.years. I have an attachment in Nottingham so when I spoke with
:22:10. > :22:14.Steve McLaren, that made the difference.
:22:14. > :22:17.Boxer Carl Froch will be returning to Atlantic City in America for the
:22:17. > :22:19.final of the Super Six tournament. Froch will fight in the main
:22:19. > :22:22.Boardwalk Hall arena against unbeaten American Olympic champion
:22:22. > :22:23.Andrew Ward at the end of October. The pair are the world champions
:22:23. > :22:26.from the two leading boxing organisations.
:22:26. > :22:28.Derby weightlifter Chris Freebury is another step nearer the Olympics
:22:28. > :22:36.after claiming the British title. The 22-year-old took the 69-kilo
:22:36. > :22:41.crown showing he's bang on course to make the team for London.
:22:41. > :22:44.Great to have so many athletes heading towards those 2012 games.
:22:44. > :22:47.That looked very heavy! Now, over the last couple of weeks,
:22:47. > :22:49.we've been looking around our counties through the eyes of our
:22:49. > :22:52.local radio presenters in our series Pride of the County.
:22:52. > :22:58.In the final part, tonight BBC Radio Leicester's Jim Davis takes a
:22:58. > :23:02.slightly different look at Leicestershire.
:23:02. > :23:07.Welcome to castle gardens in the heart of Leicester. This is really
:23:07. > :23:13.the home of Leicester's historical development where the Normans and
:23:13. > :23:17.Romans first settled on the town grew up around here. King Richard
:23:18. > :23:22.Bird welcomes you to the park with this stature and the lead and is
:23:22. > :23:27.that his body was thrown into the River Soar after he died in 1485.
:23:27. > :23:33.It is largely to this rare and its connections to the River Trent that
:23:33. > :23:36.Leicester's industrial park land grew up around this spot. It is
:23:36. > :23:42.from the river where I think you can get a truly unique perspective
:23:42. > :23:48.on the city. Geoff lives on board his narrowboat and has offered to
:23:48. > :23:53.show me some of the sides. The canal was purpose built in 1890 to
:23:53. > :23:59.bypass the difficult to navigate section of beach saw Mark -- the
:23:59. > :24:05.River Soar. The tow path still forms a useful purpose and gives
:24:05. > :24:10.people a chance to escape the busy roads and get from A to B. Heading
:24:10. > :24:14.out alongside Leicester's famous abbey Park and north past the world
:24:14. > :24:17.renowned Space Centre and then on and beyond, linking the city to the
:24:17. > :24:22.fabulous Leicestershire countryside and some of the most rural
:24:22. > :24:26.landscapes you can find. But it is one Leicester's Belgrave
:24:26. > :24:30.Road that I really get a sense of why I love this city so much with
:24:30. > :24:34.its shops and incredible restaurants. I was born in South
:24:34. > :24:38.Africa to British parents and we travelled around the world before
:24:38. > :24:43.we chose to settle right here. I think that is why I feel a
:24:43. > :24:45.connection to this city so much. Continuing along Belgrave Road away
:24:45. > :24:51.from the City and towards Seisdon, there is something even more
:24:51. > :24:56.surprising going on. Minutes from the busy hobby horse
:24:56. > :25:05.roundabout, in Burnaston is this beautiful and tranquil lake. --
:25:05. > :25:09.Burnaston. This is Murphy's Lake, a format sandpit which is home to a
:25:09. > :25:17.water boarding card. Wait boarding is one of the fastest growing
:25:17. > :25:21.sports in Europe and you can have a go yourself. That is what I love
:25:21. > :25:25.about Leicestershire, whether it is a city-centre park, a walk along
:25:25. > :25:30.the towpath or something for the less faint-hearted, my cloudy of
:25:30. > :25:33.Leicestershire has got it all. Amazing!
:25:34. > :25:40.He was very good about. Very good indeed, and he must have
:25:40. > :25:42.been cold. We have had some very heavy showers
:25:42. > :25:47.across the eastern side of our across the eastern side of our
:25:47. > :25:52.region and we have some with us now. A rather wet picture was captured
:25:52. > :25:55.today By Philip, thank you for this. It was needed to Trent Lock with
:25:55. > :25:58.the power stations in the background. We will seek the
:25:58. > :26:03.weather improving towards the end of the week, but we have got a
:26:03. > :26:08.showery been for now, including this evening. Those at heavy
:26:08. > :26:11.showers sitting on the east. They will be thundery at times,
:26:11. > :26:15.producing a lot of rain in a short time. They will play throughout the
:26:15. > :26:18.evening and we will see clear spells come in tonight. A minimum
:26:18. > :26:23.temperature of 11 degrees. First thing tomorrow morning, the early
:26:23. > :26:27.part will be dry with a bit of sunshine. But again, it will turn
:26:27. > :26:31.Sharif towards tomorrow. These showers will develop in the
:26:31. > :26:35.afternoon, they will not be as heavy as the ones we have had today,
:26:35. > :26:41.but there will be a lot around. The temperatures will be similar to
:26:41. > :26:46.today: A maximum of 20 degrees. A very gentle breeze. On Thursday,
:26:46. > :26:50.there will be the return of those heady slow-moving showers again.
:26:50. > :26:54.Thursday will be wet again in the East Midlands, but by Friday, we
:26:54. > :26:58.will have a ridge of high pressure trying to build an. It will be a
:26:58. > :27:01.weak affair, so not overly successful, but it will be settled
:27:01. > :27:05.down enough on Friday to give us a reasonable day. The temperatures
:27:05. > :27:11.are not doing too badly for the time of year. We are hoping Friday
:27:11. > :27:18.will be tried if you want to get into the garden. The wins one macro
:27:18. > :27:22.-- the winds will be light. It will not hang around, that rich of high
:27:22. > :27:26.pressure, so Saturday and Sunday will see the showers returning. The
:27:26. > :27:32.winds will be light this weekend, and sunshine in between the showers
