:00:13. > :00:16.And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Carol Hinds. From

:00:16. > :00:20.today, rail passengers are facing fare increases of nearly 6% on some

:00:20. > :00:23.services in our region. One company, East Midlands Trains, says it'll

:00:23. > :00:32.help pay for improvements to the network as the government cuts the

:00:32. > :00:37.amount taxpayers contribute to the 72p, that is what East Midlands

:00:37. > :00:39.Trains says is the increase on the average fare per journey. Some

:00:39. > :00:46.passengers here at Nottingham railway station are unhappy about

:00:46. > :00:51.the cost of rail travel. I'm paying 155 a month to travel to Leicester.

:00:51. > :00:57.That will go up to 170. It is a small increase per month but it

:00:57. > :01:01.eats away. I'm going to Devon to see my mum. It's cheaper to get a

:01:01. > :01:04.train to Manchester and get down on the coach than it is to get the

:01:04. > :01:08.train from here. The fares are going up by an

:01:08. > :01:13.average of 5.7%. Cross Country says a seven-day return ticket from

:01:13. > :01:22.Nottingham to Birmingham is going up by nearly 6%. East Coast is

:01:22. > :01:26.putting up fares by an average of Two security guards are still

:01:26. > :01:28.critically ill after an explosion at a disused coal mine. The blast

:01:28. > :01:32.happened at an electrical substation at the old Welbeck

:01:32. > :01:36.Colliery in Nottinghamshire. Investigations are being carried

:01:36. > :01:41.out by the police and the Health and Safety Executive. The injured

:01:41. > :01:44.men are both being treated for severe burns to their faces.

:01:44. > :01:48.A pensioner says she's devastated after learning that a new relief

:01:48. > :01:51.road will cut straight through her garden. 16.5 million is to be

:01:51. > :01:54.spent moving traffic away from the centre of Loughborough so that it's

:01:54. > :01:58.for pedestrians only. The local council says it will improve safety

:01:58. > :02:01.and increase shopping in the town. But for Mavis Bexon, the project

:02:01. > :02:07.will destroy the garden she's created for her husband who has

:02:07. > :02:12.Parkinson's disease. I detest it, of course. I don't

:02:12. > :02:15.want it and I don't think anybody wants that.

:02:15. > :02:19.The thought of sitting in that house while the bulldozer does it

:02:19. > :02:25.is beyond what I can live with. It just crumples me. I don't cope with

:02:25. > :02:28.it very well, I'm afraid. On to sport and a special day for

:02:28. > :02:32.Notts County. They are famous as the world's oldest Football League

:02:32. > :02:42.club and today they begin celebrating their 150th anniversary.

:02:42. > :02:43.

:02:43. > :02:45.It may not be the fullest trophy cabinet and it may not be the

:02:45. > :02:49.biggest club but the heritage Notts County have is special and

:02:49. > :02:53.something they want to hang on to. They had a beer brewed for the year.

:02:53. > :02:56.It is nice on just about every level.

:02:56. > :03:00.All the fans here are long-term fans. They haven't just turned up

:03:00. > :03:04.for the glory today. We are a small club and we don't

:03:04. > :03:07.have much to boast about but what we've got we are proud of.

:03:07. > :03:10.It is not hard to persuade the old players to come back and enjoy the

:03:10. > :03:14.atmosphere of Meadow Lane all over again.

:03:14. > :03:17.Many of people that have played for Notts County are living in the area

:03:17. > :03:20.and would break a leg to get back down here to celebrate.

:03:20. > :03:24.As the balloons rose into the sky, they started thinking about the

:03:25. > :03:28.next 150 years and that meant starting with this afternoon's game.

:03:28. > :03:32.Well, there was a game in the middle of all the celebrations and

:03:32. > :03:34.it finished with Notts drawing against Huddersfield 2 - 2. In the

:03:34. > :03:43.Championship, all our teams travelled away for their games and

:03:43. > :03:52.won. Leicester beat Crystal Palace. Derby County won at Hull and

:03:52. > :03:59.Nottingham Forest put three past Ipswich.

:03:59. > :04:02.If you are heading back to work tomorrow morning after the

:04:02. > :04:05.Christmas break, be warned because it could be a tricky commute

:04:05. > :04:09.because during tonight, things will turn increasingly wet and windy as

:04:09. > :04:12.well. You will notice the breeze increasing as we go through this

:04:12. > :04:16.evening and during the second half of the night, the wet weather piles

:04:16. > :04:20.in from the west. The dark blue colours show we will have some

:04:20. > :04:25.heavy downpours over the Peak District. Lows of three Celsius

:04:25. > :04:29.overnight. This is tomorrow morning's rush hour. Wet and windy

:04:29. > :04:33.with winds reaching 60 mph in places. Things will steadily

:04:33. > :04:37.improve through the day. The rain clears to the south and a couple of

:04:37. > :04:40.wintry showers in the Peak District later on. Highs of 10 Celsius.
