:00:07. > :00:16.Our top story tonight: three Muslim men are convicted of stirring up
:00:16. > :00:21.hatred against the gay community. They distributed leaflets saying
:00:21. > :00:25.his lamb called for the death penalty for homosexuals. I feel
:00:25. > :00:29.quite angry that it was felt appropriate to distribute stuff
:00:29. > :00:34.that was primarily intended to stir up hatred. I cannot see how it was

:01:12. > :01:18.landmark case in Derby as three Muslim men are found guilty of
:01:18. > :01:24.inciting hatred against homosexuals. They distributed leaflets called,
:01:24. > :01:27.Death Penalty, which were hostile and threatening. Tonight the police
:01:27. > :01:37.said the those views were not representative of the wider Muslim

:01:39. > :01:46.the three Muslim men found guilty of inciting hatred against
:01:46. > :01:50.homosexuals. Any comment? Another of them than the, in the middle

:01:53. > :02:03.three men were found guilty in the first case of its kind in the
:02:03. > :02:08.country. The leaflet this was handed out said -- was called death
:02:08. > :02:11.penalty? It showed a mannequin hamming from a nurse, containing
:02:11. > :02:16.texts that said Campsall punishment was the only way to raise what it
:02:16. > :02:23.called an immoral crime. I was really upset at the time and I've
:02:23. > :02:31.become more angry about it. That it was felt it was right to deliver
:02:31. > :02:35.that and put it through people's letterboxes, I feel angry. It was
:02:35. > :02:40.primarily intended to stir up hatred. I cannot see how it was

:03:04. > :03:07.within these leaflets is not something that is representative of
:03:07. > :03:17.the wider community. It is certainly not representative of the

:07:44. > :07:49.said no suitable qualified professional had given her advice

:09:21. > :09:27.Mark Spencer says his answer is to convert empty shops into homes.
:09:27. > :09:31.Here's our Political Editor. These boarded-up shops are a tell-
:09:31. > :09:35.tale sign of a high street in decline. It could be a long while
:09:35. > :09:43.yet until new retailers moving. So, should these buildings have another
:09:43. > :09:49.use? Empty, to let. They are window-shopping and there is not so
:09:49. > :09:54.much to catch the eye. How do we regenerated? We need to encourage
:09:54. > :09:58.people. Peacocks is the next high street name that could disappear.
:09:58. > :10:02.This Nottinghamshire town has its fair share of empty shops. We need
:10:02. > :10:05.to shrink the High Street physically. Someone needs an
:10:05. > :10:10.overarching view and conferred some of those shots into residential
:10:10. > :10:13.properties. This area of Mansfield Road north of Nottingham city
:10:13. > :10:20.centre helps to illustrate what the MP is trying to achieve. They used

:10:24. > :10:28.but when they were dead, shot became derelict. Now they have been

:10:34. > :10:41.like Uncle? It will put more pressure on parking. There is
:10:41. > :10:47.already a lot of trouble at weekends. The raw lot of these

:12:32. > :12:39.docks for vehicles outside. And chilling and refrigeration plants
:12:39. > :12:44.inside. It is a clear message to everyone we are still investing in
:12:44. > :12:48.the business. This is our 49th year in business and we are still
:12:48. > :12:52.investing in it, improved efficiency is, but above all else
:12:52. > :12:57.we have liberated capacity and increased our ability to improve

:13:00. > :13:05.open. Any opening always needs an official plaque unveiling, and this
:13:05. > :13:09.one, of course, was no different. The times are difficult and a

:14:51. > :14:54.A self-styled bedroom musician. All his tracks are produced right here

:15:00. > :15:05.David was selected for the Musicians' Masterclass. It is
:15:05. > :15:10.amazing. It feels great. A few weeks ago, I never thought I would
:15:10. > :15:13.ever set foot here and here I am. Also invited down to London was
:15:13. > :15:23.Derbyshire's Lucy Spraggan. She is going from the radio studio of The

:15:25. > :15:30.Beat, to the stage of Abbey Road. They asked if anyone would like to
:15:30. > :15:38.play and I shot my hand up. It is all opportunity, so I thought I
:15:38. > :15:44.would have to do it. Whether you are playing in a garage with your

:15:49. > :15:55.whatever, it has to start from a place of joy, enjoyment and truth,
:15:55. > :16:00.because that will carry you all the way. He is a great singer, a down-

:16:33. > :16:37.Then there may well be some pretty snow in the South Pole, but back
:16:37. > :16:47.here it is dreary rain. Will it improve for the weekend? I will
:16:47. > :16:53.tell you later. Time for the sport. The Olympics
:16:53. > :16:58.are coming this year which is why Colin has been down to East London.
:16:58. > :17:02.I am at the Olympic Park, looking pretty fabulous now. I am preparing

:17:12. > :17:16.Plenty of other sport today. A big we can do football. In the
:17:16. > :17:20.Championship, the tension -- attention is focused on Nottingham
:17:20. > :17:26.Forest. They could be about to lose West more -- Wes Morgan to
:17:26. > :17:30.Leicester. For more than eight years, Wes
:17:30. > :17:36.Morgan has been a firm favourite of Nottingham Forest with his solid
:17:36. > :17:40.displays at the back and some great goals, too. Leicester have now been
:17:40. > :17:45.trying to prise him away. They have made one bit, rejected today by
:17:45. > :17:50.Nottingham Forest, but there is nothing to stop Mr coming back with
:17:50. > :17:55.a better offer, for a man out of contract in the summer. We don't
:17:55. > :18:00.want him to leave, but I need to know where he is with it. The club
:18:00. > :18:07.cannot be used like it was used before, where a player has walked
:18:07. > :18:12.out of the door on a free transfer only three or four months later.
:18:12. > :18:17.This is a dilemma. If they reject any bids, they run the risk of
:18:18. > :18:23.losing him anyway, getting nothing for him, so the question is do they
:18:23. > :18:27.cash in now, while they can? In fact, the club have issued a
:18:27. > :18:34.statement today, reiterating they can only sign new players if they
:18:34. > :18:38.sell current ones. It means Cotterell and first-team coach Sean
:18:38. > :18:44.O'Driscoll have a huge task ahead of them, starting with tomorrow's
:18:44. > :18:48.trip to West Ham. At Leicester, they have finalised some business
:18:48. > :18:55.today, signing Manchester United midfielder. They don't play until
:18:55. > :19:03.Monday. Derby County are in action tomorrow. They go to Burnley
:19:03. > :19:09.looking to make it an amazing six wins in a row. The work-rate and
:19:09. > :19:13.honesty of the players has to doubt incredibly. We are making it much
:19:13. > :19:16.more difficult for the opposition to create a chance never mind score
:19:16. > :19:22.against us. An contrast, Notts County are
:19:22. > :19:31.looking to put an end to their slide down the Guam as they take on

:19:46. > :19:50.Sir, that is the sport today and looking ahead to the weekend, but
:19:50. > :19:55.in an Olympic year, so many eyes are focused at the Olympic Park in
:19:55. > :19:58.East London, especially true for us in the East Midlands because we are

:20:42. > :20:47.Join us at home with the Adlingtons. How are you feeling about it?
:20:47. > :20:51.Excited. Nervous. A bit apprehensive.
:20:51. > :20:58.You can feel the impact of Paralympic training.
:20:58. > :21:04.Times when I was struggling in certain areas may be, it makes me
:21:04. > :21:10.the most motivated person that I am. And come behind the scenes at the
:21:10. > :21:15.world's leading sports institute. Do you think we have become world
:21:15. > :21:21.leaders? If not, we are as good as. That has improved a hell of a lot
:21:21. > :21:23.in the last few years. It is quite a story. That's this

:21:44. > :21:46.From the Olympic Park, from London, getting ready for the Olympic year,
:21:47. > :21:49.that is your sport. And, as well as that programme,
:21:49. > :21:54.your BBC local radio station will be featuring Olympic stars and
:21:54. > :21:57.their families on their breakfast programmes through next week.
:21:57. > :22:02.So, from those with dreams of Olympic gold to a young woman who
:22:02. > :22:05.had a dream of reaching the South Pole. Well, now she can tick it off
:22:05. > :22:10.her to-do list because her dream has come true. After a slog through
:22:10. > :22:16.the freezing wasteland, Bryony Balen's done it! And she's broken a
:22:16. > :22:24.record, too. Geeta Pendse's with Bryony's delighted family now.
:22:24. > :22:28.They must be delighted. Celebrations are well and truly
:22:28. > :22:34.under way at these -- at this house. We have got mum and dad, friends
:22:35. > :22:39.and family, supporting Bryony Balen for a long time. She came up with
:22:39. > :22:43.the idea three years ago. We will talk to them about what it has
:22:43. > :22:47.meant to her, but now let's have a look at the epic journey.
:22:47. > :22:52.It was a gruelling training process but she was determined to become
:22:52. > :22:56.the youngest Briton to speak to the South Pole. She has Guido the 700
:22:56. > :23:02.miles from the coast to the poll, navigating challenging terrain and
:23:03. > :23:07.temperatures as low as minus 30. The 21-year-old completed her
:23:07. > :23:13.challenge and describe how she felt. Absolutely exhausted, but ecstatic
:23:13. > :23:20.at the same time. To have achieved this so young, everyone seems to be
:23:20. > :23:25.in shock, but I think for me it is the start. I will not have a boring
:23:25. > :23:30.lie. She celebrated her 21st birthday on the ice and said the
:23:30. > :23:37.track had played a huge part in her life. The three-and-a-half-year us,
:23:37. > :23:42.and I turned 21 on this trip, that is a third of my lifetime. There
:23:43. > :23:48.was two years of physical training, and the 3.5 stone of a week I had
:23:48. > :23:53.to put on which was epic. And we skied 1,200 kilometres. The trip
:23:53. > :23:59.began in early December and Bryony Balen is looking forward to a well
:23:59. > :24:06.earned rest this we can. What an incredible journey. We are
:24:06. > :24:10.here with the family and friends. First of all, proud dad Paul. What
:24:10. > :24:16.was your reaction, initially, when she said she wanted to ski to the
:24:16. > :24:21.South Pole? We sort of grinned and said that sounds like a great idea.
:24:21. > :24:27.We left it because very often she has mad ideas, but this one stuck
:24:27. > :24:31.and she was serious about it. And off she went, training, finding out
:24:31. > :24:35.information about who would lead the expedition, and the cost and
:24:35. > :24:42.every thing. And we get the sense of the training she was under, but
:24:42. > :24:48.what was it like for her to be out there? Minus 45, 47 degrees, and
:24:48. > :24:54.the food was pretty ghastly, she says. But it is both a physical and
:24:54. > :24:58.mental bath -- but it is both physical and mental attributes that
:24:58. > :25:03.she needed. What did you say to her? She said, I don't know what I
:25:04. > :25:08.will do next. What happens now? That makes sense. Granny and
:25:08. > :25:13.grandad, you must be proud. Definitely. Couldn't wish for more.
:25:13. > :25:17.And what do you think? A great achievement. It has been coming for
:25:17. > :25:24.a long time, but she has got the guts to do this job. Berry
:25:24. > :25:30.Proudfoot stop well, Bryony Balen, she will leave the South Pole this
:25:30. > :25:40.evening and something tells me we might hear about her again. Now, is
:25:40. > :25:44.
:25:44. > :25:54.it a post to her? Yes. Cheers. -- Hopefully, she is not skiing back.
:25:54. > :25:55.
:25:55. > :26:02.Maybe catching a bus? Minus 45? Goodness me. A mild
:26:02. > :26:07.weekend in store over the next couple of days. It will be windy.
:26:07. > :26:15.Do you remember yesterday I showed you 14-year-old putts Molly's
:26:15. > :26:20.photo? 13-year-old George is getting in on the act with this. I
:26:20. > :26:25.thought I would share just shrug's attempt with his. Thank you for
:26:25. > :26:31.your sunset over Ashby de la Zouch. Whatever your age, send me your
:26:31. > :26:35.photos. Let's take a look at the weather. We have had this pesky
:26:36. > :26:40.warm front sitting over asked for remarks of the day, bringing a
:26:40. > :26:44.dreary and dank conditions, outbreaks of rain as well, now
:26:44. > :26:52.starting to clear a way eastwards and we will start to see some
:26:52. > :27:02.drizzle. Durie, most places should turn a dry. -- generally, most
:27:02. > :27:06.places. Winds increase. We expect mild temperatures. Tomorrow morning,
:27:06. > :27:09.mild, cloud with some drizzle through the morning but then
:27:09. > :27:14.gradually through the afternoon we should see things drying and
:27:14. > :27:19.brightening. You might see some sunshine before the date is out.
:27:20. > :27:29.Temperature-wise, mild. The key thing are those gusting winds but
:27:29. > :27:37.particularly in the morning. 40, or 50, mph. Sunday, cloudy, but more
