:00:00. > :00:13.gone wrong with Wales? But now on BBC One, it's time

:00:14. > :00:19.And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Anne Davies. Good

:00:20. > :00:23.evening. There's growing anger after potentially life changing operations

:00:24. > :00:25.for children were cancelled. The surgery was designed to help

:00:26. > :00:29.children with cerebral palsy walk again. The NHS has apologised for

:00:30. > :00:36.the distress and uncertainty the decision has caused. Now families

:00:37. > :00:39.face an agonising wait to see if their children can get the surgery

:00:40. > :00:47.they need. Our Health Correspondent, Rob Sissons reports.

:00:48. > :00:52.Forward, that's it. Keep those feet nice and far apart. This boy's

:00:53. > :00:57.family thought he was well on the way to his surgery to help him walk.

:00:58. > :01:00.But Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre say the spinal operation is

:01:01. > :01:05.no longer routinely funded on the NHS. We're not expecting him to jump

:01:06. > :01:12.off the bed but there is hope there that he could walk without the

:01:13. > :01:18.surgery. In today's post, the News Mum was dreading. And 29 other

:01:19. > :01:24.families who are in the same boat. His operation will not be going

:01:25. > :01:30.ahead on the NHS. The procedure involves cutting nerves around the

:01:31. > :01:32.spine to reduce spasticity. Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre

:01:33. > :01:40.should've stopped doing the operations months ago. In a

:01:41. > :01:41.statement, NHS England told us they were trying to achieve nationally

:01:42. > :01:58.consistent approach. In Nottingham, Shannon's family feel

:01:59. > :02:03.lucky. She got her operation four days ago, and the Queen's Medical

:02:04. > :02:07.Centre is honouring other operations because they have firm dates booked

:02:08. > :02:15.in. But to begin with they had said no. I thought it was really bad and

:02:16. > :02:20.that other people could not get help, it was really bad for them as

:02:21. > :02:23.well. I think it is awful and I want to do anything I can to help the

:02:24. > :02:30.other children who are not getting the surgery. Days on, they are

:02:31. > :02:37.already noticing improvements. She can now raise her hands. Can you

:02:38. > :02:42.show us now? Can you open your hand for me please? That's brilliant. It

:02:43. > :02:45.is not fantastic for this boy's family who say they feel forced to

:02:46. > :02:51.raise thousands of pounds to go private. It is a big mountain to

:02:52. > :02:57.climb, who knows how long that will take? Families across the East

:02:58. > :03:01.Midlands have had their hopes raised and dashed. We asked for interviews

:03:02. > :03:05.from Queen's Medical Centre and NHS England and were told no one was

:03:06. > :03:09.available. Tonight there is talk of NHS England funding some cases,

:03:10. > :03:13.possibly around 100 to be evaluated, but there is no word yet on who

:03:14. > :03:16.might qualify. Police have arrested 26 men in

:03:17. > :03:19.connection with suspected violent disorder that broke out after a

:03:20. > :03:22.football match last year. It happened on the day Nottingham

:03:23. > :03:28.Forest played Derby County in September. This morning, raids took

:03:29. > :03:35.place across three counties. Tom Brown reports.

:03:36. > :03:44.It was barely donned this morning, at huge police operation was already

:03:45. > :03:46.underway. Around 100 officers arrived at homes in Nottingham,

:03:47. > :03:51.Derbyshire and Boston in Lincolnshire. They were aiming to

:03:52. > :03:55.arrest 26 men in a series of co`ordinated raids. It was all in

:03:56. > :03:59.relation to suspected football related violence. The operation is

:04:00. > :04:05.the culmination of investigation that place with regards to a violent

:04:06. > :04:09.disorder incident after the Nottingham Forest and Derby County

:04:10. > :04:13.game in September last year. Since that date, a number of people have

:04:14. > :04:17.already been arrested and are currently on bail. A lengthy enquiry

:04:18. > :04:20.and investigation piecing together lots of different strands of

:04:21. > :04:25.intelligence has taken place, identifying 26 further people we

:04:26. > :04:31.need to speak to in relation to that disorder. It happened near this in

:04:32. > :04:41.right on the Nottinghamshire Derbyshire border. The men arrested

:04:42. > :04:44.today were aged between 16 and 50. The majority were detained at

:04:45. > :04:49.Nottingham, where evidence and statements were taken. This five

:04:50. > :04:54.months police operation was so big, it was partly funded by the Home

:04:55. > :04:58.Office. It's unprecedented. I have been a police officer for 22 years,

:04:59. > :05:03.I have not seen on many occasions the amount of intelligence gathering

:05:04. > :05:11.and preparation which took place in relation to preparing for today's

:05:12. > :05:14.arrests. Police say anyone convicted of football related violence gives

:05:15. > :05:17.the real fans a bad name. More arrests could follow, this operation

:05:18. > :05:20.is not over. Almost 600 affordable homes are to

:05:21. > :05:24.be built in Leicester over the next two years ` as figures confirm today

:05:25. > :05:30.the average price of a house in the region is ?176,000. The average cost

:05:31. > :05:34.has been unchanged for three months up to December last year ` but

:05:35. > :05:44.there's been a near two per cent annual increase. The UK average is

:05:45. > :05:47.?50,000. `` ?250,000. In Leicester ?60 million is to be spent by the

:05:48. > :05:51.council and others on providing affordable homes. But one estate

:05:52. > :05:54.agent in the city is suggesting a boom could be on the way in the

:05:55. > :06:01.private market. We have seen in markets before that at the beginning

:06:02. > :06:06.of the market you get that gradual, steady growth, and as that bubble

:06:07. > :06:08.builds the increase becomes more rapid.

:06:09. > :06:12.This year the Rainbows Hospice will have been caring for thousands of

:06:13. > :06:15.children and their families for two decades. It was officially opened by

:06:16. > :06:19.the Prince of Wales and since then, has gone on to provide respite,

:06:20. > :06:24.palliative and end of life care for children from across the East

:06:25. > :06:27.Midlands. Sport now and one important result

:06:28. > :06:30.in the Championship tonight. Derby County have gone up to third in the

:06:31. > :06:43.table after winning away at Sheffield Wednesday. They won 1`0.

:06:44. > :06:46.Time for the weather forecast. Thank you. It has been a quiet day

:06:47. > :06:50.today and we got to see lovely scenes like this today. It is

:06:51. > :06:53.looking decent for tomorrow as well. It may start off gloomy but we will

:06:54. > :06:58.get brightness and sunshine towards the end of the day. We have had

:06:59. > :07:01.showers around, they are fading away now so it is a dry night. Clear

:07:02. > :07:08.spells tonight as well, turning cooler with light winds tonight.

:07:09. > :07:13.Tomorrow morning, we will see cloud rolling in, a bit of hill fog and a

:07:14. > :07:16.spot of rain here and there as well. Later on, the cloud should break

:07:17. > :07:22.up, we should get some brightness and sunshine. Temperatures up at

:07:23. > :07:28.around nine or 10 degrees. Feeling quite springlike, dare I say. Taking

:07:29. > :07:29.a look at the outlook, it looks as though is all turn more unsettled on

:07:30. > :07:34.Thursday, but that's all from us. heavy. More international weather

:07:35. > :07:37.next.
